Just came to the tiger boss in witch castle, I can remember now how damn hard of a boss he was! Like the hardest one in the game, it still a pain in the ass to beat him! (I didnt there though).

I picked this game up right away. It's basically a lazy port but i dont care. The game is a classic. Im just happy to have it on my iPhone along with FF 1&2 I can't wait for tactics & crono trigger and hopefully we
Will get FF6 & Evermore also.

He really is the hardest to beat, because he's the last boss you can't use magic on (I don't count the tadpole/lizard guy as a boss). All the others you can spam with magic, but that guy jumps around, knocks you out, often stays out of reach from most of your weapons (at least your good ones), and can breath fire on you. I hate that guy.

The controls are moderately annoying, which is about the best you could hope for.

Despite the nits, this is still easily more than ten times better than any $0.99 DoodleCrap game out there, and definitely worth the money.

I'm approaching this game without the fog of nostalgia (only played it in PC emulators), so I'm likely one of the few who actually prefers the iOS graphics. The new water effects are lovely, and even on an iPhone 4 the sprites look sharper and more vivid.

I generally agree with chickdigger that turn based JRPGs are a better fit for the platform than action JRPGs (Chrono Trigger would own). But as someone who didn't grow up using SNES controllers, the "sacrifice" on a touch screen is really not that great (I prefer these to the keyboard ones on the emulator). Anyone who's played through Zenonia should do well with this version of SoM.

You know, I wonder how sound effects would work in place of tactile response?

I mean, that's the major issue with v-pads, isn't it? I wonder if having little clicks sound at certain points in the movement of your thumb would help to replicate some of the effect of physical response?

Maybe have the pitch change depending on direction, and volume with degree, so once you learned it, you'd be able to respond to the control stick by audible clues and not have to worry about actually seeing where your thumb is?

No multiplayer? Ugh. What a waste. Would have gladly payed 49.99 for this game if I could play it with the lady. She's a "new" gamer so titles like these are fresh to her. Would have been a blast having her experience it for the first time but its really not the true experience without coop, imho.

Anyone know exactly what the "directional assistance" option does in the options menu? Tried it with it on and tried with it off but I can't really notice any difference in anything.

I've been looking at the sales records. This game isn't doing well - kind of a bearish market with 15 year old games for 10 quid. It's only a matter of time before the sales price drops like Moses' cudgel.

LOL you are hilarious man. It's been out two days and it's already on the top grossing at #11, and it's on sale right now - so if you're looking for a sale I would buy it now before it goes up to $12.

Plus knowing Square it won't go lower than $6 and that won't happen until they release something else huge, like Chrono Trigger or FF Tactics. So have fun waiting.

I really don't understand why this isn't getting more buzz — it's a very good port of a ridiculously awesome game, far better than most 'retro' RPGs thrown about the App Store. More people need to check this out.

If it's anything like the soundtrack included in the game here, it's great. :D

Really enjoying this port. I haven't seen any of the issues people have complained about, and those saying it's blurry on 4gen devices might need glasses, I'm about 3-4 hours into the game and it looks crisp on my iPhone 4.

The one issue you might run into is delegating actions to your party members. Currently I feel 'Keep at a distance from enemies' is the only bugged action in the game. It does keep your members far from the action but it randomly determines their location, which might be standing on top of another enemy not engaged with your main character, thus pulling more enemies.

If you want the best experience, I found that setting all members to assist, and also to level 1+ charge before attacking, worked great for me. It kept my party tight together and also maxed my members hits instead of them just spamming auto-attack.
