Is it possible (outside of the few rewards I am seeing at level 5) to earn pearls? I thought by selling clams I would but haven't had any luck there.
FAQ tips There's a Seabeard tips/tricks article on Gamezebo that I learned a few things from: http://www.gamezebo.com/2014/12/10/seabeard-tips-cheats-strategies/ Much of it is the same as what others have mentioned here, but if you're just starting out, everything is summarized in one relatively concise form. There were a few things I don't think I read here that might help others. One is that the sailing mini-games refresh after every time you travel - even if you do so by airship. So if you are looking for a particular game, don't pay pearls, just bop around by airship and check to see if you see the game you need. The other thing is that the games like Feeding Frenzy and Tentacle Terror do accept multi-touch. It's way easier to win them using more than one finger!
Still enjoying this. It's the type of game that I'll visit in short spurts throughout the day or the chores do get tedious. If I had one pet peeve it would be that once I finally save up the coins to buy - let's say - the trader house, then I'm told I need the building materials too. And suddenly the driftwood that was all over the place is gone. If I'm grinding to get the coins, I feel the reward should be a tad more attainable (the house). I'm holding back on buying the pet which I really want to see if the game gets tweaked a bit for better fair play. I play hay day for the last two years, played dragonvale since its inception, so I'm not a F2P hater at all. I'm just finding this one gets way to grindish way too soon. Timers don't bother me at all, but the coin earning and then the materials finding just to buid a house is a bit much. Basically, I'm saying I cannot play it for more than ten minutes or so at a time before I feel frustrated. Other than that cute game. Let's see if it gets a tiny tweak. On a side note I did support the dev allowing DD to buy her pet with a pearl pack. She possibly has more patience than me. ^.^
I found the game to be way too grind dependant as well. I played , trying to get a warrior to try combat, but, did not even get there. After a week or two of playing , I just gave up. For me, the bottom line was pretty simple. There were just too many other games waiting to be played that I enjoyed more. This felt like a waste of time.
So I've won quite a few Target practice and slalom races on medium but haven't won any explosives/dynamite/tree remover. Are they super rare? Also does anyone else find some of the other games on medium ridiculously difficult? Or am I just really uncoordinated?
Wow, my luck has been amazing today! I've found 3 blue apples, and the lighthouse guy on Seadog Cove just sold me an explosive barrel! Unfortunately, I'm too broke to buy my 3rd trader house, but at least I have a space for it now, lol. Money will come with time, but not being able to clear that space was stressing me out. Honestly, it is terrible game design to make your ability to progress dependent on a rare random event. Back to the bright side... I feel much happier about the game since getting the warehouse. I highly recommend getting it ASAP. Now I can store lots more so when I get strawberries, clams, etc, I keep them there. I learned a few recipes for these things that only get you 1 or 2 gold, so now I can make them into soup or whatever that sells for lots more. Before I was only happy finding fish, but now everything feels like a good find. I can see that each trader and its related recipes leads to less down time. It still may not be your cup of tea, but I'm kinda liking it right now.
I'm new to the game. Just started playing yesterday. I have a green campbed and a chef's hat clogging my inventory bag. Is there a reason I need these, or can I trash them to make room?
I'm getting lots of lag during the sailing challenges, which is seriously hampering my efforts to win stuff. Is it just me? Any workaround I can try now, or are there any plans by the dev to address this?
I'm at the point in the game where I can build the swap shop, but I also have a quest to buy the food stall. Which one should I get first?
Me too. It may be because I'm playing on an ageing ipad 2, but the slide to steer controls just don't seem responsive enough. Trying to change 2 lanes quickly in challenges like dangerous waters seems impossible. IMO a better control method might be tap left/right side of screen to move left/right a lane. Or maybe just tap the lane you want to move into. Sliding is just too slow.
Food stall doesn't make you much profit at the start as everything only sells for like 3-4h. Recipes sell for more but you have to buy them, waiting time plus ingredients will take up loads of inventory till you get a warehouse. Swap shop also worthless as its just for you to sell unwanted gear if friends come to visit your Island. Basically they're just there to further your story line. I'd probably go food stall just to get a few extra gold
I disagree on the swap shop being worthless. It's basically free storage since you can keep items there at high prices until you need them. Which is really helpful before you can get the warehouse, since the inventory system is completely insane.
I finally started playing this one, and I like it so far, but I'm not sure how long that will last. It seems getting the items you need can be a huge pain. I need a blue apple to make some grog for a quest. The blue apples are apparently rare. So I sail to all the islands I have access to, shake a few trees, but don't get any apples. No big deal, I guess I can try again tomorrow. So I move on to building my second trader's house, but I need a stonefish for it. So again, I go to every island and catch (or not catch, half the time) every fish to be found. Not a single stonefish was to be seen. Now there are nomfish anywhere, so I guess I have to wait until tomorrow to try this again, as well? So now what? Just turn the game off until tomorrow? I can't do anything else, as I've already done all the side quests I could find. I'm a patient guy. I don't mind waiting for things. I enjoy Epic Island, if that's any indication. But I'm not sure about this one. It just seems like there is way too much of a push to get the player to buy and use pearls in this game. From the horridly limited inventory space (of which you have to spend quite a few dollars just to upgrade even a little but) to the required items being hard to get but easy to buy, it just feels like the premium currency is being pushed a little to hard. I'm still new, though, so I'm holding out hope that as I learn the game a little better, I'll find the game (and its freemium model) a little more forgiving that it appears to be right now.
Yeah you're right on that point. I just tend to put my furniture down and only store the accessories there. To be honest I'd probably start destroying accessories if I got too many. Wish they made a feature where clothing doesn't count as an inventory space. Kind of discourages diversifying your look
Finally got the blue prints for the warehouse then realized I'll need a bomb for the large boulder. Any idea where else I can get that aside from the sailing challenges and outright buying it? The game kind of opened up after setting up the different stalls and buying numerous crafting recipes. Each play session can really last a while, checking in about 3 times a day, clocking about 20-40 minutes each session, more so when all the wild loots refreshed.
