The changes they made basically got rid of the energy system, except for boat rides (which are usually not necessary anyways). The timers are still there, but they usually are, even for premium games like this. The big hang up is gold, which takes a while and a lot of back-and-forth trips to procure, but is totally fair (just slow). My big hang up with the game, even after unlocking the fighting, is that there isn't enough to do. Collecting all the animals would be something neat, but I still have no clue where to get the camera. Each element you unlock adds another layer, but I find myself bored for days in-between and find it difficult to login just to fish, run a few generic quests, and make a few items to sell to get enough coins to progress. Adding the collecting aspect earlier would make a big difference...
Looking forward to downloading this when it comes out this week! One question though: I know how the time of day changes right along with your iPhone/iPad's clock, and different quests will open up depending on the time of day you play, however are there any special things for holidays? Some special Chrisrmas-themed quests you could only do on/around Christmas day would be pretty great. Maybe even have some exclusive items for these quests/holidays as well? Just a thought if they don't already have anything like this in it!
I know this game hasn't received a great soft launch reception but I can't wait to try it out when it gets released this week. On the top of my thursday list!
This game ruined my life! Since I started playing it I've been too distracted to enter any review contests on TA, I have not even played any new game that came out I even missed all the great Black Friday game deals it has consumed all of my spare time . All I want to do from the moment I wake up is fight golems and gnomes, play mini games and capture escaped fugitives. Granted it starts out slow but man does it grap ahold of you in time and since they lowered the cost of early buildings and fixed the difficulty of the mini games it's trul a joy to play. I would recommend this game to everyone. I'm the cheapest SOB there is and I shelled out money for a Canadian iTunes card to make purchases in the games. And the IAP did not help me advance they helped add more to my island. Play This Game!

I, too, would love to know if there is anything winter-y or Christmas-y in this. It would at least give me incentive to try it this month.
