Thx for the support, guys And no way am I abandoning this game. I've logged in a good 30-40 hours learning the in and outs of GameSalad, scouting the forum for answers, working on the graphics, getting the "code" to work, and daydreaming about playing my own game on my iPod This game will come alive I think I went overboard with the smileys. Jupiter... mass... gravity. Oh, gotcha. Yeah, the acceleration wasn't enough to get the ship off the ground. I fixed that with an update
So I guess with all the time you are putting into the game development, you are probably not putting much time into something that the PC users of the world can look at?? Where are your priorities???
he could, but currently, gamesalad only works on safari on mac, gendai games are not yet ready to put out the one for pc yet.
A few more screenshots for your viewing pleasure. Alright, some explanations as to what the things in the pic are. The little gun-like things in the first two screenies are indeed that, guns. But instead of shooting something that'll take away health (there isn't and won't be one, fyi), it shoots puffs of (bluish) compressed air that can really mess up you up and send you inadvertently to your doom. As you've probably deduced, the guns do rotate to your position. The little chomping thing there (yes, slightly inspired by the chain thing in the Mario games) act as a hazard whenever you land since they're really quick. And if they gain enough momentum they can go after you in the air. ... but they're easy to lose. Another fyi, they do close and open their mouths in a chompa chompa fashion And that's it... I've been a little lazy, lately.
Dont want to sound critical but the sprites could use a little more work. The smoke looks like ink to me and the sprites look kinda tattered around the edges. If your not already using gimp, try rendering the edges around the sides to make it look less like a block and adding a smoothing filter. The gameplay to me is top notch and looks like its really improving though.
Nothing to test yet. Yeah, you're right. Well, the smoke I'm kinda debating on whether to change or keep, since I do kinda like it. I'll probably experiment a little... But the rest definitely needs some polishing. After the game's done, I'll probably rework chunks of the graphics since I'm not all together satisfied with what I have right now.
Oh, I was just asking what the betas thought of this game Ill try the gamesalad. is it a gamefruitsalad?
Dodge enemies, pick up powerups. Different goals in addition to going from point A to point B, like saving some princess, and then getting to point B. But YOU gotta make it happen!
I need to keep better tabs on this thread. Have you restarted the browser? Quit it completely, then restart it. Should work then. The closest thing I can come to an estimation is between 2-3 months.
Questions Ok, I wanna ask you guys some questions and I want more than the skimpy suggestions you guys have given me so far. 1) Is 50 levels at release good for you guys? 2) What kind of game goals do you want (I already have "rescue the princess" on the list, may not be a princess, but I'll work it in there) Survival, maybe? Knock the Jonas Brothers of the pedestal? 3) How many different enemies (as in variety) per level? Take in mind that each is fairly unique and difficult in their own respects. 4) Do you prefer short levels that can be completed in a couple minutes or long levels that might take you between 10-15 minutes? 5) What music style should I go with for the soundtrack (I'm buying it, not making, lol, can't play an instrument yet). And once again, thx for the support guys. I am (moderately) hard at work on this title
1)yes. 2)Survival, defense?? 3)4-5 at most. 4)SHorter levels, more quantity and quality. 5)i dont know some mario type music( no the exact kind, just something in that type of music)
Ok, gonna try one more time. I've got game programmers block, and I kinda need inspiration Seriously, though, I have no idea what kind of character to make next.
1) Sounds like a very reasonable amount. 2) Anything that makes cool use of physics! 3) I'd stick with a just a few, unless it's a very simple enemy, maybe a level or two with lots! 4) Yes. Variety is the spice of life. 5) Techno! (Light or heavy, your choice )
I know some of you might think this project's dead, but here I am, to tell you it's still beating... with a very faint pulse, but it is beating. I haven't been able to do much lately because of school, sports, etc, but here're a few changes I've made graphics-wise. As always, suggestions, comments, whatever, are welcome. Also, biggest waste of time ever (just for kicks).
