Except that you have to read so much. I don't mind reading a good book that keeps my interest, but 9/10 books you're forced to read are boring. I might be wrong, but doesn't most of your grade come from reading assessments and such?
Yes and no. Our grades are based on those reading assessment,s but AP classes are mainly meant to prepare you for the AP test and since the main part of the English AP test are the essays we spend alot of time bettering our essay writing skills which is actually pretty difficult when you've been taught the wrong way. We also do this 20+ page portfolio ever quarter which is where we read a certain book and analyze and if anything its just time-consuming.
Looks good on your transcripts and I'd rather take it over AP US or Gov since I'm actually good at it.
heres the deal school sucks, and it always will. until you find beer and drugs. then school becomes awesome,..... till you start failing and it sucks again. it's a vicious cycle,
1st of all any pirate rules, and weren't the pirates in Africa. secondly I've only heard that school is easy in America. Mr friend that lived in the UK until year 6 (5th Grade) found school easy, and was repeating things until the end of the 7th grade my Uncle was a maths teacher in america and he found he taught them a lot less. I find work hard and play harder is the best way to get through it.
I wish I was taking AP English right now, the same teacher teaches honors and AP and we both have the same coursework, I'm at least going to see if I can take the AP exam at the end of the year since both the AP and Honors are taught the exact same.
I actually like the books. I dont know why. Everyone says they hate them and reading sucks balls but I actually liked reading. AP english is only hard when you have to read some deep book and get a timed quiz on it talking about all the moral conflicts and stuff
He mustve been teaching at a pretty crappy school because the united states has some of the best and hardest in the world.
Strangely enough the same doesn't seem to apply for the armed forces. My friend totally failed to get into the UK Navy but passed the US exams with flying colours.
Probably closer to lifeguards at a swimming pool I don't think I've actually seen evidence of our navy even existing.
I wish I could go back to school. What ever your beef is with school I can almost guarantee you it is better than working... I wish I had stayed in college for as long as my parents would have paid and pursued advanced degrees. Now I'll have to take night classes if I ever want to go back, and will still have to work, and pay the tuition myself (read: lame). I miss summer vacations. And girls on campus in the spring when the weather gets nice. This sucks, now I'm depressed. I'm getting the f*ck out of here early today..
That's correct. I wasn't going by name, I just meant "the UK's navy". Probably shouldn't have capitalized the word navy.
wtf? Both of you are wrong, first off, the US has the worst schooling, or at least, really bad when it comes to other first world countries. secondly, I don't know about you blokes, but I started doing homework in 2nd or 3rd grade, so this no homework till HS is bull if you ask me.
Are you serious? I started going homework in 9th grade. All previous grades I slept though. Yes the US has pretty shitty schools, it's an established fact.
