I'm tired of this stereo type. I learned far more about problem solving and time management in the service than i ever did from the education establishment. Have you served? What do you base your opinion on? As far as teachers go, I am not trying to paint all of them with one brush. However, I have also personally known more than a few teachers who are intellectually overawed by bricks.
That last line describes the lowest state of learning. If you really believe the Gov. can use that, might I suggest some sort of monkey training program to meet their needs.
Uh actually I'm in all AP and advanced classes with a GPA of 11.167 on a 12 point scale... Don't quit your day job for fortune telling.
Tell me how to find the area under any curve using those AP skills. But then again this IS the internet, anyone can be whoever they want to be. edit: It's been an hour and a half without a response. I rest my case.
school has a place for some. Some people, it works wonders. Some people, it is an utter waste of time. I am glad to be out of that system. It didn't really work for me. Self-education did. It hasn't prevented me from doing anything I've wanted to.
4th in the state. Every single class including English is honors or AP. Some classes don't even offer an honors option. At least 90 minutes of homework each night. Try doing this while having 2 hour swim practices each day. Sadly, the only creative writing class is senior year, half a semester. Not really any classes I'm interested in. So yeah, it's hard, and boring as hell. As for some people that say you learn stuff you don't really need, hey, you're not really losing anything in the process. And it helps you decide what field you wanna go into when you finally graduate by giving you a taste of each different class. And sure, maybe it doesn't matter whether we learn how photosynthesis works, but some find it interesting, and it keeps us from turning into lazy hillbillies that watch NASCAR all day. When someone makes a reference to the Crusades, or Holden Caulfield, you'll actually know what they're talking about.
Speaking of AP, I'm doing an outline right now. Thank god for histnotes.com (even though he skips like 30 percent of the text).
Agreed. I have found that the toughest aspect of this is staying focused. Have you found that to be the case?
Like this? Just take the integral of the absolute value of the equation on the given intervral. Done.
So not true, the druggiest, least virginitiest guy in my year is top 5 in a year of 140. Going out with girls, drinking and even smoking weed does not make you dumber even at the age of 15, but excessive amounts do hurt you, so you have to be careful. (actually, girls can distract you so much, that you do worse, so scrap that) People overreact (mainly parents) at teens not doing work. I have never once died from not doing homework, but I am still predicted 10 A* and 1 A in GCSEs
