All the episodes have stand alone stories, just like real Saturday morning cartoons. You can play episodes in any order, at any time. Enemies in the game scale (this is adjustable from the main menu) so difficulty is not dependent on the episode you are playing. All stats and inventory will transfer between episodes. Even the choices you make in certain episodes will transfer backwards and forwards between episodes. In the version that is out, if you complete the optional side quest called "Grueling" in Episode 2, one of the character's from the quest will appear in Episode 1.
Got a review from iFanzine - Saturday Morning RPG scored a 4.5 out of 5. http://ifanzine.com/saturday-morning-rpg-review/
I think all of us who were following the game had expectations, but when you've paid this much attention to detail (and believe me, if you guys set out to invoke as much feelings of nostalgia as possible, you hit the frickin' nail right on the head), I really don't think your target audience has much room to complain. As far as I'm concerned, I mean it when I say my expectations weren't even close to what's in the final product.
So it looks like this is a turn based RPG with some action elements, like Costume Quest, Paper Mario and the like? Is that correct? If so I will definitely be downloading this. Well, I will be regardless since the first episode is free!
Yeah that's how the battles work. It's turn based but with some tapping to charge up certain attacks and tap at the correct time to block slightly better than not tapping. On another note. I really can't believe how freaking awesome this game is. Seriously this is what I've been waiting months for? Your damn right it is! It's everything you could ever ask for in a nostalgia inducing rpg. I'm not even joking here when I say I really can't find any fault with it. So far it's never crashed, never been boring, and never been anything but pure awesome. If I were better at explaining stuff I'd write a huge review on how fantastic this game is, but unfortunately I'd end up just going on about how freaking sweet it is (like I'm doing now) Seriously the only slight and I stress slight thing I could ask for would be an option to fix the joystick in place asy finger goes wondering across the screen sometimes. But I imagine that's easy fixable. Final words. Wild stallions! *insert electric guitar riff here*
We're going to add an option for disabling the joystick follow in one of the next updates. Should be fixed within the month. We're also going to add a warning when you're about to overwrite episode progress. No idea why we forgot to add one of those before release.
This game is retardedly good. I love everything about it and will buy every episode and tell all my friends too. Holy crap.
Glad to hear you are enjoying it! We definitely will appreciate any help you can give in spreading the word about our game.
So pumped to play this! I have begun following you guys on twitter. I wish you guys the best and hope you have lots of success with this. I can't wait to see what kind of flashbacks this brings to my childhood
