I'm not getting too many posts about people playing and enjoying Episode 3 - is anyone able to actually play it and enjoy it? We tested it and played through it on pretty much every device but a 4G iPod and iPad 1. If you're encountering a crash, the first thing to try is completely restarting the game by closing it out of memory. Just double press the home button, hold down on the SMRPG icon, and then tap the red minus sign. Then re-open the game and it should work well (unless you're on a 4G iPod). If that fails, just do completely restart your device. I'm probably going to be purchasing a 4G iPod tomorrow - got a trick to amass a bunch of Best Buy credit to pick one up on the cheap. This should prevent this kind of issue with future updates. EDIT: Just got confirmation from a friend that the memory problem occurs on iPad 1 as well. This whole situation is a nightmare. I went in with the assumption that a 3rd Generation iPod would be less powerful than a 4th Gen or iPad 1. I sincerely apologize for these crashes, guys.
I feel kinda ripped off, I thought I bought the deluxe version back when I bought episode 2...but looking back in the thread I guess that wasn't possible and I'm confusing this with ash 2 or something. Still I thought I've been waiting all this time for something I already payed for, but actually I never did... Atleast it doesn't look that way... Guess I have to fork over somemore $
It's still on sale through the 22nd - so at least it won't make a major dent in your wallet. If you're still using your iPod 4th Gen, I'd suggest waiting for a fix to the memory crash. I'm going to try to get that done tomorrow and submit it to Apple.
I've been behind on RPGs so picked up the Saturday Morning RPG Deluxe edition today. In part I waited because I dislike episodic release strategy but not sure I can contain my interest. Once I finish Knights of Pen & Paper I'm diving in to SMRPG. Thanks for the sale.
Yes, it was the battle with just one solider. Restating the device didn't help, but I finally gave up and just restarted the save file and that seemed to solve my problem. I look forward to finally being able to play the game!
Awesome! That's great to hear! We're already diving head first into Episode 4 right now. It's scaled back from Episode 3 in size, but you should still enjoy it. Just so I can look into this tomorrow, did you have a save on device before you updated - or did you just get the game today with Episode 3 available from the start? In any case, I'm happy to hear it's working now. I hope you like the game!
I had the save started before I updated the game, but had only played around a minute. Thanks and I'm sure I will!
Ah, that would be the issue then since we did a big overhaul on the Episode 1 intro and tutorial. Hopefully this won't affect too many people.
Very happy to be playing through ep 3. This game is great. Constructive criticism: An RPG based on nostalgia is a huge win. Does a generic 80s school fit the bill? Yes! A cave? Not really A generic 80s park with hover board? Yes! A dam? Not very nostalgic. Great level design though. I was psyched when I saw the arcade complete with animatronic band, that's about as nostalgic as it gets. But I don't Expect to be able to go in yet, unless there's a wild arcade ep 3 finale waiting... Anyway I really like this game, and would recomend it to anyone who enjoyed saturday mornings in bygone decades, or wants a light unique and fun rpg. Its the only iOS game that has kept me hooked for updates. Your design is improving with each episode. Keep that up and stay true to original concept and you will have a legacy on your hands.
Oh I forgot about some new things being added to the previous episodes. Ill go back and play episode 1&2 that and endless will keep me busy until the episode 3 fix.
Not a personal dig here, Just pointing out that the cave was suitable because it fits with the Cobra command/Gi-joe theme and also the He-man references. And the Dam fits because in one if the first episodes of transformers G1 when they got to earth the decepticons to controls of a dam to make power (since they had no energon) there's nothing so far that I've seen that is out of place or doesn't fit in with the 80's/90's theme.
Not to mention the NAME, which is also a play on an 80s action star; Jean-Claude Van Damme @Josh I'm amazed the episode has come out two days early, I can't wait to play it! Well.. sadly I'll *have* to wait, since I'm way short on cash right now, but yeah, soon!
Problem with icloud cant sync between iphone 4s and ipad 3 i click send data and on iphone receive and nothing
Does this game have much of a storyline? Not wanting an intelligent and complex one, just something that is gripping no matter how silly it is.
Yes each episode has a seperate story line which takes anywhere from an hour upto a few hours to complete. There's also some missions and story elements that carry on through each episode. Think of it like a cartoon series where each episode has a story but there linked together overall. It's not a huge confusing story though its more of a light hearted parody of everything 80's and 90's.
Great to hear that you enjoyed it! As for the dam, like oooooomonkey was saying, we went for the dam because of the original G1 Transformers miniseries. That's also where the Powertron Axe comes from. The Decepticons were all about stealing power, so it was fitting to set it in a power plant. I also tried to inject more nostalgia with the Snoozers and their backstory. Did you make sure that iCloud was enabled on both devices and logged into the correct account? I had that issue when I was testing - only to realize I didn't have iCloud turned on on the other device. We're thinking about doing 3 more now with a new one coming really soon! I'll announce details as soon as I can - don't want to do what I did with Episode 3 and break my promised release date several times.
Just so you all know that I am on working on the crash fix - I bought an iPod 4th Generation this morning out of my own pocket so I could work this out. I've got it to where I can load into the dam - it crashed the first time I tried to go in, but worked when I reloaded. That was how it was working on the 3rd generation when we shipped - I'm going to try and completely fix the crash, though.
I've got one point to make about the "Garfunkel" item (whoever named that item is a genius) With it being a multi hit item I was expecting my multiplyier to be included in each hit, but its not. After the first hit your combo goes back to one and the rest of the hits are weak. Just thought I'd point it out.
