Wow, what a random unearthed game from my past. One of my first PC games after Myst. I remember this running slowly on my parents old computer.
To those with concerns about the controls: Default touch controls are great, the virtual stick's a little iffy. Don't know if that's due to the really odd animation. Still, it's a DotEmu joint, so expect updates to the controls if they need be updated. Other than that. The game is so ****ing worth it.
That's why I love iOS. I've always been a console gamer, so I've missed out on decades of good PC games.
Anyone know about how long this game is? And is it a one and done thing, no reason to replay it? I just ask because I've never gotten into the point and click or adventure genre but this looks pretty neat
There's no point playing again, unless you want to experience it again after you learn what is behind everything.
Same here... I'm about to fire this up for the first time, it's pretty exciting knowing a game has the seal of approval from so many yet I'd never heard of it before. I guess I'm/we're lucky in some ways but unlucky to never of had the original experience.
Has anyone else tried this on iOS 9.0.2 jailbreak? This is the first app I've had fail to load on me. I totally accept that these things happen on JB and I'm not moaning - just wondering if it's a specific tweak or across the board. I don't pirate apps, just in case anyone thinks that a dodgy version of the app might have caused the problem or something.
I appear to have run into a bug. I cannot use the filled gas can on the generator in chapter 2. I wonder if any others have experienced this problem? Oops, problem solved, and the game turns out to be very fussy where you tap on the generator.
Great Game I remember always wanting to play this. It's fantastically nostalgic to the times, looks, sounds and feels great. The controls are either that you drag the character to where your finger is or That you navigate from your fingers position, ex. Drag up and the character moves up. I prefer this second control as I want to see the character (who otherwise would be hiding under my finger), but it does feel clunky and awkward in its response. Also I have a crashing issue at the end of the last cutscene for the first part. I'm on iPhone 6s which may be incompatible? Or? iOS 9.1.(got past by restarting) Worth it! Get it! Now!
The game brings back old memories. I did experience a couple of crashes, after cut scenes, but those were remedied by restarting the game. My thought is that it is a memory issue. Also, the game can be a bit finicky about where you tap on an object when using inventory items. I felt a bit embarrassed to have missed an earlier puzzle due to tapping in the wrong place, when I had the correct inventory item all along. All in all, a blast from the past, not to be missed.
Later Inpressions iPhone 6S iOS 9.1: All bugs, flaws or glitches I'm describing have not taken away from the fantastic experience. They're just a bit irritating. The hand icon sometimes shows the wrong action chosen so your character responds as if you already have something equipped when you don't. Seems quite random. When this happens, the hint button and options button are inaccessable even though they appear onscreen. Text gets skipped from time to time for no apparent reason (I kept my fingers in check), also seems random. Difficult navigation with my preferred Pad controls and it can be very tough pointing at the intended target leaving you to assume you thought wrong (it's a bit hit or miss, mostly it hits right though). I'm Loving this game!
I'd agree after you get past the bad graphics and the annoying controls at times.. the story is just fantastic so far.
I have to say the same, there are a few rough edges that I first thought (I must admit) would hinder my playthrough, but once I got past that, the atmosphere and story are completely compelling and I know I'll see it to the end. Totally fantastic and totally worth your time. If Dotemu polish things up a little it would be a bonus, not a must.
