How is the Dojo/Survival Mode? Is it accessible right off the bat? Do I need to play through the main game to unlock moves or stages in Survival Mode? Since I really only played the Dojo Mode of the original Samurai games I'm seriously hoping I can still get the full Survival experience without having to spend much or any time in the main game.
So are the combo names messed up? I unlock a combo and do it and a totally different name pops up on the two of them.
You have to unlock combos in the main game first Btw, we are in the pub, celebrating Sam II. Everybody sending many greetings Cheers guys
It IS stunning on a retina Display! I might make a gameplay video later when I'm done with some homework!
My only complaint is that the controlls sometimes sort of get stuck (Espechially the dodge button.). Btw, gameplay video is being processed by youtube.
Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel Sorry for it not being available in 720p, I think I turned the filesize I wanted in Handbrake too far down.
Ya, the controls might take some getting use to for people who are trying to press the buttons really quickly. The controls are not exactly instantaneous like some people would like and do take a second for the next command, but I think it is a good thing. I makes it to where Samurai II is not some crazy button mashing game. You have to slow down and time your actions, especially with rolling.
Ok, the thing with the controlls, they seem to lag quite abit when there are alot of enemys on the screen.
To be fair, this isn't really cel-shading. They've created textures which give the impression of cel-shading, but the actual polygons are not using such tricks typically associated with the technique. That's fine, though, as it looks good regardless and runs super smooth. The trick to these games is to push the graphics in the areas that are the least demanding but produce attractive results. The mix of performance and quality is tough to reach, but when done properly, the results can be insane.
Still I kinda wish that it didn't cue up your moves. That screws up your rhythm when your guy does a move you didn't wish to do. Anyhow some other little glitches and stuff I noticed: - You can walk through barrels, not sure if it's intentional, but its still kinda goofy. - When your sword is sheathed, and you roll, your roll animation has your sword out so it looks kinda funky. I guess the dev's forgot about that =P So ya, this game is polished for a first release, but it's not 'super polished' =)
Crash bug in 2nd Level Is anyone else suffering from a crash bug in the 2nd level, after you drop down on the red platform, after you begin walking up the brown walkway? I tried a restart of my iPad, but no luck in fixing this.
Excellent game but where are the swipe controls?!? I really love the first game and still consider it one of the best games to play on a touchscreen. While there were a lot of complaints about the control scheme by people who did not get it and I understand the move to the virtual d-pad controls I miss being able to swipe the screen and play the game like that. The new game is fantastic but please add the swipe controls back in a future update, this would make it prefect. Having 2 control options should please everyone. Another thing I preferred on te first game was thathe enemies were standing in a place and here they just appear out of nowgere almost as if beamed there, it would be better for them to come running from somewhere instead of just appearing. Even with the d-pad controls this is a must have game and I can fully recommend everyone to get it, it has some of the best graphics on the iPhone. I hope there will be a 3rd part of this and haven't even finished this one yet. For the 3rd part I think Madfinger should look at 'Samurai Warrior' for the Commodore 64 ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n_a4Ap_Mw9Q) and maybe implement some of the interaction with peasants in the game to get karma points.
