I also remember it being a lot about timing and flow. If you time it right, you can tap to move and avoid attacks and then counter attack. It takes some practice for sure, and the game isn't easy by any means (a good thing in my opinion.) I know it took me more than one try to beat most of the later bosses as well.

I had an issue where, after beating level one, my screen went black for about a minute and finally crashed. I'm at work now so I haven't been able to play again to see if it keeps up, but I'm wondering if anyone else with my specs (iPod Touch 2G, 4.1) has had this happen.

This game is amazing! Quality just screams at you! The controls are slick, the auto-camera is very polished, the graphics are amazing! What more could you ask for?

Can someone explain to me how the scoring system works?
    What's 'critical hits'?

Is there any system that determines when 'slowmo' happens or is it simply random? If chaining a certain amount of hits or something leads to combo's, this game could be way deeper =)

    Your words are so true,
You can't really ask for more with such a solid game that oozes polish out of every inch of itself! :D

Slow mo is not random, but not straightforward either. Basically, the more hits you connect and less damage you take the higher the chance that you'll score a special kill. If you catch someone from behind, the chances are also very high that you'll do one, too. High-level combos help as well.

thanks Outkast and chick and the guy/gal after that. Love the game.

On a side note, I also bought Reckless Racing. On-line is very good fun.

I may not be the first one to say so (haven't read every post here), but this game reminds me of the Afro Samurai game, which was crazy underrated IMO.

I want production values like this to be standard in the app store. Retina + Gamecenter for a game with mad aesthetics, and it's substantial - not a high score minigame. Visually the games is bomb - slick graphics with smooth animations. Controls are pretty tight. I just wish the game wouldn't remember my inputs from before I got hit - nbd though.

The only thing this game lacks is compelling characters and clever puzzles.

Bottom-line: This is a hell of a way to spend your last $3 credit in the app store. Absolutely worth every cent.

Hey dev, any chance of a software requirement downgrade in a future update?(iOS 3.1 or later maybe?).

I loved the first Samurai game and Samurai II is an instant-buy for me, but i'm still on 3.1.2 with no computer to back up and upgrade my phone at the moment, so you can see the predicament i'm in.

And chicks. You forgot chicks. Although I guess you could put chicks in the compelling characters category.

Just started level 5 and I'm starting to miss the whole concept of blocking. Great combat system though, overall. It's more nuanced than you might suspect in the beginning, although I'm not talking Ninja Gaiden here. NG is practically a fighting game. Anyway the game screams on an iPhone 4. Madfinger is officially on my radar :D

    Its a sausage-fest. :)

Well, I liked what ive played on my iPad, but It crashes every time I finish the first level.... Just hangs on a black screen....

Ive tried rebooting, but that seems to make no difference.... Is anybody else having this problem?

My iPad isn't jail broken btw, and has the latest firmware.

Man. I get to the second boss and got killed 5 times. (Damn guys with their bows and arrows)

    Okay. fine.

I tried again and finally killed him and then the game crashes.

On another note, I like this game. Now if it wasn't so hard...
