Oh really? Good save with the having one eye open comment, but this post from you says otherwise, and I quote: Ouch!
Agreed with squarezero. It looks better than any game I've played on the iPad. Dont have a retina device but I can only imagine how awesome it'll look on them.
Looks awesome on the iPhone 4, but what really kills is the combination of incredible graphics and 60 fps animation. There are a lot of good looking games out there that run so sluggishly that it's just no fun; Samurai II looks and runs like a game you could conceivably play on an Xbox360. How the heck Marek and company got Unity to do what it does here, I'll never know. pgboy -- the beta was invitation only (I'm pretty sure), so you didn't really miss anything. In any event, the game will be coming out soon.
*ahem* i shall have you know i had a string of essays to write for school, which took up a considerable amount of time to draft, redraft, then perfect. (ok, not that many steps, but yeah, i had lotsa writing to do. which i hate.)
We are really happy that you are looking forward for Samurai II. We put a lot of effort and time on it.. We wanted to create something worth devices like iPad or iPhone 4G. Screenshots looks worse then game running on the Retina display and of course play very well Dont want to hype it too much, you will see soon by yourself. We will release more screenshots and video next week, so stay tuned. Marek R.
Yep, Gameplay is a silky 60 FPS and Unity isn't all that bad, it just depends on who gets their hands on it. Also, the visuals are incredibly clean, clear, and crisp on retina display. No ugly graphics here. and it will still be a little while before the game comes out, it still has to pass approval by Apple, so we all need to keep waiting for a little while before we all can get our hands on this magnificent game.
Don't get me wrong: I think that Unity is a great development environment. I just have never seen it do something quite like this...
Now that I can say is VERY true. Unity is a good development environment, and no game has been done quite like this on Unity before. It should be what all other Unity games aspire to be!
I will buy the game in the second it appears, although I already played the hell out of it. But devs like MADFINGER need to be supported. They get everything out of the device and put a lot of highly ranked titles to shame. I absolutely love this game. Prepare to get blown away by the graphics and bloody fights.
What is aralon? What are you trying to say Jak? Well, you should know that Samurai II is the new standard when it comes to Unity games. Edit: Oh, so it is a new upcoming game is it. It looks ok, but at best, it comes in second to Samurai II!
I am going to assume that your question is rhetorical, but I see from your sig that you too are patiently waiting for Samurai II, and I don't see any mention of you waiting for that other game that was briefly mentioned here. So this is a widely and highly anticipated game. I hope you will prepare yourself for the Sword Slashing Party!
Aralon and Samurai II are very different games. In some ways Aralon makes Unity do things that I'd never seen before either, but the focus of that game is exploration, leveling, and customization, with combat being more stat driven than player skill based. Samurai II has some slight RPG elements but the game is driven by twitchy combat, with the beautiful environments serving as an awesome backdrop (and often adding to the challenge a well).
I totally agree with you SZ. Aralon is totally different, and I do like it's overall gameplay, but I still would say Samurai II is where it is at for slicing, dicing, and kicking ass in general with superb graphics! So it still comes in second to Samurai II!
