Well done! Any idea when Puerto Rico will be here? By the way ... if you need a tester or a translator to German ... just contact me.
That might be optimistic. There's layers of approval processes between us and P.R. June 1 would be a miracle; June 15 seems more likely.
Unfortunately, it's all speculation at this point. But the good news is that going through the Ravensburger review will definitely result in a better game. Hang tight, it will be worth the wait! In the meantime... Two weeks, two long weekends: sale starts today on our existing board game apps!
Well, sure; no argument there. OTOH, May 19 was a publicly announced date for Puerto Rico (and today's the 19th), so anything beyond that date will be seen by many as a disappointment. And this isn't some obscure Euro that sold 500 copies total this is the Big Dog. So anticipation is high. I guess it would be nice to know more. Has Ravensberger worked with iOS development before? If so, how long does their approval process usually take? What happens if they order massive changes? I guess we'll know soon enough ... still, sometimes it's hard to be a patient consumer. Like a lot of people, I'm super-intrigued by the idea of playing PR on an iPad.
Yes, Puerto Rico is still being reviewed by Ravensburger. They are taking their time, but I think we can all be glad of that since it will insure that the first release is very high quality. We will keep you posted when we have any news, but it looks like it will be at least a few more weeks.
Ugh. So May 19 is out, then? Announcing release dates continues to be a double-edged sword for developers, it looks like. They (understandably) want the information out there and for people to get excited about their games ... and then they never hit the dates. Oh, well. If I'm being honest, it's not like I don't already have a bunch of other games I've barely looked at ...
Hi folks, Our apologies for the "radio silence", but we've had our heads down working on Puerto Rico. Ravensburger has of course been in the loop all along, but the real feedback from them only came after we felt the game was potentially ready for release in May. They are definitely just as aware as we are of how big a release this is for iOS gamers, and the market has continued to get more competitive with releases like Ticket to Ride, so we've been working closely with them to try to make version 1.0 as complete and polished as possible. We think we're very close now, and will be submitting another update for feedback to Ravensburger this week. Our goal is definitely to have the game out in June, but it's really not up to us. We will try to get back to our usual mode of providing any news as we have it, now that the big polishing push is done, and thanks again to all of you for your support, feedback, and patience. We do also want to let everyone know that updates for Tikal, Ra, and Medici are still in the works, as are the other titles we've announced in various places. The past few months have been incredibly hectic for us, but there have also been some moments of reflection too... It's been almost a year now since we put out our first call for beta testers, which led to us being thrust (not too reluctantly) into the spotlight. We've had our ups and downs and we're still not quite where we want to be in terms of speed and quality of development, but we are just as committed and excited today as we were a year ago to bringing these fantastic games to iOS and other platforms in a way that will please and entertain fans and newcomers alike. Most of the issues we've faced can be attributed to the fact that we're small and self-funded and have therefore cut some corners or rushed some releases, but we certainly hope that Puerto Rico will provide us with a much more stable financial situation and therefore the ability to grow and improve our development capabilities. Anyway, before we start to wax too philosophical, there's an update for everyone. We will post news on any and all titles as we have it, and try to provide some release dates once Puerto Rico is (finally!) out and we can assess where we are at on the various projects. We really appreciate everything TA and TAers have done for us, and we look forward to continuing to repay the favor with great games! Happy gaming! Codito Development
I'd rather a polished release that took longer to arrive than one rushed out, so take as long as you need. I love board games and I am so happy the iPad is becoming a new medium to experience them.
Wonderful! I'm still annoyed at Days of Wonder for not iPhone-enabling their board games. While minimizing and optimizing the interface when porting from iPad to iPhone/iPod Touch is a true challenge, it is the only aspect of the porting process that is actually demanding or problematic, and to this day, I've never seen a single iPad game that would be IMPOSSIBLE to port to a smaller format. My guess is that many of us would pay good money for a less than optimal, interface-wise, port of Small World. Good to see other developers are a few steps ahead
