Safari URL auto complete?

I recently restored my iPad to factory settings and downloaded the latest firmware. Besides losing 50+ gigs of apps, everything was going fine with it until today. I noticed that safari no longer auto completes my URLs. Before it would add .com to the end of whatever I typed in the address bar, but now it takes me to a page not found page, because it's treating the address bar like a search bar for some reason.

Did they remove the feature intentionally, or is there a setting or something I'm missing?

Yes. You're not using iCab Mobile :p

Seriously. It has more options than the settings application. It's based off webkit so it's just as fast (save for javascript) and it has many more features than default Safari.
