From what has been said, the IAP is only there as a shortcut for those who don't want to take the time to earn the stuff. Games like Gun Bros., on the other hand, are sleazy bits of crap where you can only get many items in the game by paying real money.
Yes you do not need to get any IAP if you do not want to. Everything is available by playing the game yourself. The IAP's seem to me to be for those that are impatient or want to take the easy way out and not earn them in game. For those kinds of players it is great. For those of us that like to earn then, it is great too because nothing is unavailable. One little thing I would like to see - in the achievements in Game Center - for the ones that are for killing x number of enemies, etc -- could you add a progress bar around the circle like some games do so that you know how close you are to getting that achievement? Having lots of fun with it so far! LOTS of fun with it. I haven't progressed too far though because I am re-playing the levels. I am guessing you can't return to past the level you just beat so that you don't come in with higher level weapons and items and stuff and obliterate the level to get an S ranking? To me it's pretty fun trying to beat the levels with the stuff I have. Sure, it's a lot of grinding but is that why?
Going to take issue with that, and here's why: developers balance a game with particular parameters in mind. Those parameters should be based on the gameplay alone; not on how high the tolerance level of the average player might be before they cave in and purchase IAPs. I noticed a post earlier in the thread where someone asks why their inventory is so small. I don't believe it got answered. Might it have something to do with the ability to purchase a "large bag" as an IAP? I don't mind games that sell extra levels or more characters as IAPs; in other words something that expands your experience. I won't purchase games that attempt to push IAPs on you in order to remove inconveniences they've artificially created just for that purpose. (And that includes grinding as well.)
That was me It seems that the developer usually answers in the morning, so I guess he's answering either tomorrow morning (but then it's Sunday) or Monday.
Well I guess didn't look at the IAP carefully. A quick scan showed some of the same stuff that I can get with in game coin. Sure I would like / need a bigger bag (especially since potions seem to fill it up rather quickly and then there is no room for anything else) but I assumed it would increase as my level did. Shame on me for making assumptions. The reason I said you could get the same items just would take you longer is for instance a dragon is 3 real dollars but 100,000 something game coins. So you can pay 3 dollars for an instant dragon or play and play and play for him and spend no real dollars. And is it like a one pay one use thing? Or -- a forever thing? Like say you buy with real money a pet - I know they can die - so will you be forever in fear that you lose (real) money by purchasing a pet because it died? Perhaps since I am still trying to painstakingly complete the early levels to my satisfaction I have not come across a point where I would want/need IAP. Later in the game though I don't know and that would make me upset. For now I don't mind grinding. It's increasing my levels which I REALLY hope helps me out in the long run!
This game gets my stamp of approval! Graphics - 10/10: I think this is the best I've ever seen on an iOS app. It is like 2D meets 3D very well done!!! Game Play - 8/10: It is very repetitive mashing the attach button and moving your character. The plot seems good and funny. Baddies get harder as you level up, The cut scenes are top notch. Sounds - 9/10: They are also top notch, not much else to say about this. Replay Value - 9/10: Besides the repetitiveness, getting a higher score and going back for more coins keeps you replaying old levels and waiting to get to the new ones. Ease of use - 8/10: Simple controls without much left to question make this a great game for everyone to play, my only issue is some of the buttons mainly the attack and dash and the heal and bomb are a bit close to each other allowing me to hit the other on accident. Pulling a bomb out when I want to heal (normally when no one else is on the screen is not a good thing and waste of a good bomb) Room to improve: This is a great game overall things I can see for improvement are: 1. I agree with making the attack button bigger and getting rid of the dash button 2. Give the Baddies health bars, the bosses have them but it would be good to see them on the other baddies so I know how many hits are left 3. Maybe put in another plot element in the levels to avoid just mashing the attack button (NOT needed at all, maybe collecting something for a side quest to allow for better weapons or something) That is about all I can say for improvement. Maybe some more achievements that don't need level 50. Other Notes: IAP - This was adapted well, as said before you do not feel forced to use them, very good! It would be cool to see this adapted to an Action RPG for a future game, keeping all the same elements. I don't even think it would be that big of a change, but allowing for more a story development and more dialog. Don't let the repetitive gameplay stop you from getting this, it is barely a con, and the baddies are varied enough to keep you thinking on your feet. Sometimes you have to pay attention to how they are acting to block, dash, or jump to avoid getting hit. Dev - Do you make any other games? This one is very good! I think keeping the price at .99 would be a good move right now, much more and people are much less likely to buy, .99 with IAP is a good model from what I've seen.(Don't make it free ever, then you will never sell a copy again!) Selling things like "Large Bag" and "Dragon Egg" are going to make you the extra cash once this game gets some attention. I know Nimblebit is doing well with Pocket Frog doing a Free with IAP. Also I hope that Touch Arcade does notice this soon, it would be a shame if this doesn't get some attention.
None but the fireworks one are for the iOS, the rest are for the XBLA. Which now explains why the graphics for this game are done so well!
Hi all, The long IAP list seems give negative image to players. We would shorten the IAP list and refine the shops. From early game design, we thought that 9 slots were enough so extra slots were marked as IAP. We appologize for the inconvenience caused by not enough slots. All items would be able to purchase in next update. By default, you can have 3 pets Yes, New England Gamer told what we thought. It will be very easy to get S rank if you go back to earlier stage with higher level and weapons. Sure. Thanks for the suggetion! That's a great suggestion. It will be taken into consideration Your pet will follow you forever unless it is abandoned or the profile is reset in character selection page. You can re-summon it again if it died, don't worry Thanks! We are glad that you like Sad Pricness We have started the development of a new fighting game Hopefully we can finish the development within 2 ~ 3 months
I bought the black dragon. Just wonder if in case i have to reinstall the game. The next time i re-purchase the dragon from IAP shop, will it be free?
The dragon in IAP is consumable, you can buy multiple dragons. It will not be free if you purchase again.
How does Sad Princess compare to other 2d side-scrollers? Is it superior or just a sufficient but average time waster? In particular I was eyeballing Twin Blades (which has the benefit of no IAP).
Well not my cup of tea I prefer buy a 5 bucks game with all its contents than buying a part of a game...
how the hell did you make it to page 7 and still not see that the in app purchases are 100% optional??? selective comprehension i tell you...
A couple of days ago I reset my character (also known as deleting and remaking), killed the boar boss (1-4) and for some reason he didn't drop the gems he dropped the first time I killed (three of them), in fact he didn't drop anything but a badge (I think) and two or so coins). Is this the way it's supposed to be? I deleted and remade the character to save the gems for the pet (since they are supposed to be food of some sorts), thought that the boar boss would drop them again. By the way, Perlogames, Sad Princess got a review from The APPera, and I'd say it's positive.
Hi all, We decided to extend the price drop for some time Thanks! The gems dropping rate was random. We understand it is quite sad to have no gems after defeating the boss, so we will force the boss to drop some gems Thanks for telling us the review! We are happy to see a positive review
