Agreed. Funny thing is, I've been playing LoZ: Spirit Tracks on the DS, and that is most definitely not open world -- you can explore specific areas, but the outside world can be experienced only by train, and overall the game is pretty linear (though there are a few non-story activities). Still a fun game (the music is lovely), but I can easily see myself enjoying something like Sacred Odyssey more, as long as the gameplay is not utterly repetitive and the writing is not atrocious.
Bad writing plus bad voice acting. LOL. But Sacred Odyssey looks like it will be loads better than EL, but I don't recall hearing any voice acting in the trailer for this game. (Edit: Nevermind, I rewatched it and it is sounding better than EL.) I have high hopes for it, after all I did like their MC2 and Gangstar and Shadow Guardian. And I agree the mount in EL was useless. I used it only twice. This game has mounted combat...even Aralon doesn't have that. But I still am a bit pessimistic on how linear it is going to be.
I have no expectation in the voice acting and writing departments. It is Gameloft, you know. Well, I am glad it comes so soon (Chinese New Year is just around the corner). My take on the price would be US$6.99. ...and where is Rainbow Six?
We haven't seen any gameplay footage of Rainbow Six, so my guess is that it's still over a month away.
Lol...overhyped? You must have made an error. I thought if a brilliant game got 1/10 of the coverage of the OVERHYPED Infinity Blade, the appropriate word would be underhyped. TA doesn't represent even a small minority of the gaming community. Check other large sites dedicated to the iOS, or having an iOS section, if see if Aralon is even mentioned with but one article stating its release.
Not sure about the free roam ability as in one of the trailers I caught a hint of that blue arrow that was in Eternal Legacy. So hopefully you can turn that off or go any way you want and not feel led around by the hand. I defy my GPS all the time in favor of a better route, so I suppose if there is the chance, I can defy the blue arrow as well!
If this is better than Aralon (which I doubt) then it definetely will be something good. The graphics already look worse, and it probably won't be as open world, but I guess I am comparing a frog and a toad. After all Aralon is a Western style open world RPG and this supposedly is a Zelda clone. But just saying.
That means just about nothing. Gameloft is a multi-million/billion corporation. Aralon was made by two indie developer teams.
Meh, not in my opinion. But like I said before, two different types of games, really. Though I would say the art is more....vibrant. In any case, we'll see tommorow, which I believe the game is being released. Then we'll compare. Here's the launch trailer if no one posted it yet. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d_2aUN4FIys
The trouble is, if this is supposed to be a Zelda clone it looks from the screenshots like it may fail. IMHO no developer to date seems to have been able to make a Zelda-like game, which is strange, as it is a very simple formula. Exploration - progressing by discovering new areas & secrets, getting new equipment that lets you progress further. Simplicity - a few hearts for your health but no stats, levelling up or skill trees! Atmosphere - whether 2d or 3d and no matter how simple the graphics, Zelda games always have tons of atmosphere. Gameloft are superb technically, but their games tend to miss out on this important aspect of games. humour & fun - the most important part (that most games lack). None of this po-faced seriousness that seems to plague most rpg/fantasy games. Sacred Odyssey doesn't seem to have any of the above from the screenshots, so these Zelda comparisons seem a bit off. If anything it looks more like Gameloft's take on Fable.
