Does anybody know what special features they've included in this title to make it only 3rd Gen+ compatible? And will this have free roam?
The game isn't out yet, so it's hard to tell. Maybe the game lags on older devices so they decided to drop support completely instead of make it more compatible. It doesn't look too graphically impressive, so I don't see why 2nd gen devices can't play it. I doubt the game will be completely free roam. It will probably be very linear and block you from visiting areas you've already left.
Yeah it would be so awesome if it was a free-roam action game, but I somehow doubt Gameloft would do that, it still looks really epic though, can't wait for it to come out!
New info & screenshots from touchgen. Features of the game include: • The peace of the world is now being threatened. Reunite the 4 fragments of Uryah’s Grail and gain the supernatural powers needed to defeat Amonbane, the dark lord at the heart of Lasgalen’s suffering. • Ride your horse, Miya, across the expansive plains of the kingdom and launch powerful sword strikes as you gallop through fields of enemies. Your journey will introduce you to an array of locations and fiery foes. • Defeat evil creatures in the Plains of Urvale, fend off enormous bosses in the icy Temple of Altemagus and the volcanic Firepitch Keep to ultimately face Amonbane himself in the royal halls of Kivira Castle. • Begin your journey with a simple sword, acquiring new weapons and abilities along the way. Soon, you will wield the Sacred Shield, Locrian Hawk (boomerang), the Nagual Cobra (grappling hook) and even the platinum Gauntlet of Brakor. • Each new piece of equipment will grant you access to new areas, new techniques and greater danger. They will even help you to overcome the many enigmas and challenges you face. http://www.touchgen.net/sacred-odyssey-rise-of-ayden-coming-february-3
That sounds like Zelda. It also sounds like it is open world, at least a bit. Amd by looking at the mini map, you see different exits in a zone.
one of those pictures had an NPC with a green ! which means it has quests, which means it is free-roam. i mean most games with quests should be free roam right?
Not really. Eternal Legacy had quests but I really wouldn't call it free roam, even though you could go back to previous areas...it was very linear with no need to. Hopefully there is some good exploration for hidden items like in most Zelda type games. On another note, the description on Gamelofts youtube trailer says shortly after for iPad. So all of you iPad users, may not be getting the good version on Thursday...
It could just be a Gangstar type open-world. Not too huge but open nonetheless... looks awesome. Too bad I won't be able to play till I upgrade my device.
I'm 99% certain that this will be an open world game with quests. Look at the second screenshot I posted on the last page, there is a minimap and a character with a green exclamation mark above their head (like in Aralon). Also two of the features from the description suggest that it will be open world. • Ride your horse, Miya, across the expansive plains of the kingdom and launch powerful sword strikes as you gallop through fields of enemies. Your journey will introduce you to an array of locations and fiery foes. • Each new piece of equipment will grant you access to new areas, new techniques and greater danger. They will even help you to overcome the many enigmas and challenges you face.
Finally a good free roam game Yeah been waiting for a way better free roaming game than Aralon (game was over hyped). And this game looks better than Aralon but I think it would be 1 gig big or more because N.O.V.A 2 was over a gig big.
Aralon wasn't over-hyped. You just liked it less than other folks . Not to split hairs, but if this is like Zelda then it will likely not be a true-free roam game, but more of a focused adventure with world exploration. I just wouldn't expect a GTA-style do-what-you-want system nor WoW-style customization. And that's fine by me as long as the gameplay is varied enough.
The key here is the exploration. Finding things in all the nooks and crannies, and ways to unlock or access those other areas. Or, revisiting the same areas once you have some special item. That was really absent minus some treasure chests in Eternal Legacy, though it's a different type of game; I'm just being cynical based on that game on how open or free-roam this Sacred Odyssey will be. It doesn't need to be GTA open, but it ought to have more *useful* exploration than Eternal Legacy...which also bragged about how you could ride around in a mount.
Riding mounts proved to be absolutely *useless* in Eternal Legacy, along with several other things in the game. I still feel completely burned by Eternal Legacy and I for one will be very careful before I *ever* buy another Gameloft game again. But that being said I hope Sacred Odyssey turns out to be great - I just won't be buying it until its been out a while and after many many reviews...
Well, based on the trailer Sacred Odyssey looks like an open action-adventure title. Kind of excited to see what Gameloft will do with their newest title. Had pretty positive experiences with their games so far.
