Don't you think that was part of the plan? It would be too obvious if it automatically was announced as free. Seriously though, think about it. This crap comes out of thin air, Hodapp hypes it up with basically no media, a domain was registered Tuesday and then we get the press release promising the world with no IAP or cost. I mean really? This is just a commentary on how much of a joke the iOS community is in terms of wanting the world at no cost.
I get the sense that he is pretty fed up with it all. iOS is a joke in the overall gaming community and I have to imagine that iOS journalists feel the results of that at big events like E3. Most of that is tied directly to the all the losers who whine and complain that we aren't getting World of Warcraft for $.99 with no IAP or subscriptions. He's been way more vocal lately about calling people out over it. Either way, what's the harm for TA? They get a laugh and their site will still be the biggest iOS site out there with the most active forums even if a handful of you throw up your arms and leave.
It's going to be fun either way. If it's a prank it's a prank, it will have hooked a few people, including me I'll say but I've enjoyed it! It isn't a prank by Hodapp because I doubt he would do this. I don't know what to think as the details don't tell us much other than dragons and multiplayer and totally free. Until I see pics or vid I will neither accept nor deny the game's existence.

Exactly. I felt like this was being billed, by the hype as a next premium ($$$) title - worthy of raising the bar from Infinity Blade, visually. I wasn't expecting, nor looking for a free game. In fact, if it's free, I may shy away. I have little trust in anyone these days, and I don't like to give companies FREE access to my info - it's the price you'll pay, with something for nothing. (HATE freemium games, and all that they stand for too!) So really, Hodapp, might be disappointing the members who'd pay premium prices (me included in that) and let us down, too.
