Rush Rover has been out for a while now, and if you dont know what it is, you should. I dunno how to link it to the app store, Im a total noob. But long story short: this is a steam transplant, roguelike bullet hell (I emphasize bullet hell, its hard as shit), with a ton of items and weapons, however I real feel this game has nailed something special. Each weapon feels unique to use, some with varied firing styles depending on how you press the fire button. For instance, The Sonic Impact weapon: a quick press of the fire button releases a short range blast, a lot like a shotgun, this attack packs a short range emp burst too that will slow enemies. Holding the fire button charges up a stack of projectiles that penetrate targets in a straight line. Hunter-Killer drones will seek out targets at long range but after attacking will enter a defensive mode where they attack anything within a certain range. On top of this, you have a probe that is always with you, it too has a default weapon that can be upgraded. The probe is one of the coolest parts of the game in my opinion. After playing for a while, you will build up enough resources to add a second probe slot. This leads to insane weapon combinations across the board. My last run, I had a laser shotgun probe attachment that fired a ring of bullets, this ring would stun my targets. my second probe attachment was a penetrating drill gun that fired off 6 drills, all which penetrate in a straight line. ON TOP OF THIS, my main weapon was my HK Drones that were doing strafing runs on enemies and destroying everything that moved. ON TOP OF THIS: My dash was upgraded to leave a trail of fire behind me that torched anyone dumb enough to chase me. And there are a bunch of different dash options to find as well. I dont want to spoil more, but I truly feel more people should be playing this. Its a $1.99.... its loaded with unlockables and goodies too. Total steal. Roguelite darling. BUY IT, PLAY IT, LOVE IT. IT IS WORTH THE MONEY! Link: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/rush-rover/id1394008449?mt=8 Rush Rover Eugenia Boehmer Rush Rover is a 2D top-down shooter game. Controls good ? Responsive etc ? pathogen541 Well-Known Member Jun 19, 2016 503 355 63 #3 pathogen541, Sep 12, 2018 Its actually a single stick, and when you get into the later levels it makes sense; it is VERY much a bullet hell shooter, but mixed into a roguelite, isometric shooter. Your rover will target the nearest enemy, so you can focus on dodging.....cuz you will need to. A lot. This is easily one of the busiest isometric shooters in iOS, and I have played most. The dodge mechanic in this game is very solid, and feels really good to use. The dodge makes you immune to bullets and enemies so you can use it liberally to escape sticky situations. The real draw tho, in my opinion is all the different options available to you in items. All items are unlocked from the start to pick up as random drops, HOWEVER, there is a "fabricator" that randomly spawns, which you can use to craft any item you would like, PROVIDED you have unlocked the blueprint for said item. This prevents you from creating some insanely powerful combos right from the get go, unless you get lucky and these items drop in the field. Luckily, weapon types are enough that literally every weapon functions different than the last, and I can't honestly say that I would choose any one over the other. This isn't including probe upgrades, dash upgrades, plug ins (modifiers that add effects to your weapons, an energy shield, hold an extra ability charge etc.) You really shouldn't be reading this. You should be throwing $1.99 at your phone. Make it happen cappin. I picked this up based on your excitement in your initial post pathogen and it certainly lives up to hype. Usually I don’t play many top down bullet hells on my touchscreen but the controls feel great. Love the visuals too, they remind me of some of the Commodore 64 / Amiga games I played in my youth. If you like rogue-lite games, you should give it a try definitely! raravan Well-Known Member May 18, 2014 829 38 28 #12 raravan, Sep 15, 2018 good news from the dev himself: «Thanks for like this game.I am developing a new game. I’ve had the blast wave module and the nano blade module. Neither has fired off a single time and the game crashed while holding the nanoblade plug in. Only time it has crashed btw.... I dunno how to bug report for this game pathogen541 Well-Known Member Jun 19, 2016 503 355 63 #15 pathogen541, Sep 17, 2018 I have yet to beat this game for a second time. The first time I feel it was strictly luck. I had the HK Drones fully maxed out, with some really good probe upgrades (Ring Shotgun for the stun, commet crush for the god damn damage). The later bosses are really punishing, and force you to be good at dodging. If you can, always grab the compact shell, will really shrink that hit box and make things a bit easier in terms of dodging....which you will really need to get good at doing. The fabricator becomes REALLY useful for later runs, when you have a handful of blue prints to unlock. Im finding that its best used not to create some intense combos, but to fill out a lacking start or to complete a load out, complimenting items you've found in the game. For instance, if I get a probe that has homing ammo (vengeful sword, drill gun, thor light only if nothing else is available) I will almost always go for a secondary defensive probe upgrade (reflection dome, pulse force). I can build those items from my unlocked blue print pool, but I still have MANY more to unlock. There really is quite a lot here to unlock, and it seems like there are also some hidden goodies in there as well. A few points of criticism: There is no autosave function. If you are mid run, you can save, quit and pick up your progress later, but if you minimize and return to the game, if the memory refreshes you are SOL and will have to start from the beginning. This isnt a huge deal, mainly as each run is short enough that it isnt a huge hassle, but it is frustrating to lose a solid run. Not a huge complaint tho. Another thing: it seems some plug ins are not working. Any of the weapon plug-in modules (nanoblade, blast wave, spaprks, rebound) dont seem to be working. More so, the only crash I've experienced was while I was carrying the nanoblade module. Im not sure how to report bugs to the dev, as Im pretty sure he is a foreign developer, but if there is anyway to drop a line to the guy, Id love to support his work with some bug reporting. He really has created an amazing little roguelite that really should be getting way more attention than it is getting right now, with a few small tweaks, I dont see how Rush Rover wouldn't be one of the best top down shooters on the app store. duxter90 Active Member Feb 27, 2017 29 4 3 #16 duxter90, Sep 17, 2018 Looks really cool. Can they be the same? Also, if there is an object partially blocking the boss, and I choose "shooting boss first", will the boss still be shot at first? pathogen541 Well-Known Member Jun 19, 2016 503 355 63 #20 pathogen541, Sep 17, 2018 Yes. That’s exactly right, and the game is pretty good about it. There will be times you are in the midst of enemies and you may be near say, a crate. If you pick shoot object first it, will shoot the crate and other destructible item near by. Likewise, if you shoot boss first, it will always target the “boss” as opposed to any mobs or junk in the way. Shoot nearest target is just that; it will fire on the nearest enemy, boss or not, if no enemies are present or too far away, it will shoot whatever is closest. raravan and ColeDaddy like this.
