Can't stand that pretty boy Hamilton myself. Big Vettel fan actually. Glad he's joined the legacy of the likes of Schumacher and Alonso on Scuderia Ferrari. Yeah, I played F1 2015 on PS4, and comparing that to the likes of DiRT Rally, it can be very complicated. You got practice, warmup, qualifying, then the actual race, as opposed to just setting up your car, and doing a shakedown run, then the race in DiRT Rally. Then the corner cutting and contact penalties are hard to emulate on mobile limitations. Guess that's why it would be hard to do a proper sim on iOS.
TBH none of that is a problem at all, its just the time for me to do it all that is the problem I need to work out what is best bang for buck so to speak. There is of course the fact that only a few people will want *that* much detail in their mobile game as they would only play such a thing when away from their console or PC!
Even if you didn't include all that goes into a GP weekend, it could be pared down to something manageable. Have simple quali, one out lap and one flying lap to set time, period. I don't really see it necessary to try to integrate a full 22 car field. Maybe 10 car races b/c I'm sure licensing will be an issue also. Color cars to represent the important teams and that would be sufficient, imo.
Yeah I already have a single seater car with different colours and liveries, its just a question of whether i go down this route or touring car route next. I REALLY want 20+ cars, anything less to me is unacceptable
Also tracks should be easy, I can replicate most of the real work ones in procedural style, get loads more objects on the trackside etc etc. but a game like this is first ALL about the driving, and getting that right.
Matters not to me, as I adore both forms of motorsport. Oh how I loved the old TOCA racers, my personal favs.
I just love the f1 circuits tho. If you do either, including the Nordeschleife in full would be epic. Kinda like your Pikes Peak bonus!
Hell yes! (Green Hell yes!) GT3's around the ring.. That would be amazing. Honestly, F1, touring cars, GT.... it's all good... You're right BM, as long as the driving is sorted, it's all good. I'm paying for whatever comes next anyway!
@Brownmonster choose the route which feels best. You're the person that needs to spent the most time with the setting of the game. Also, the Nurburgring would be cool indeed. Amazing track. But I actually hate to race on it, there are so many turns. It's just so easy to brake too late as you need to remember all turns.
All great stuff to chew on! I'm in the middle of UV texturing this bad boy at the moment when I have some spare time (which is being eaten up by work and other stuff at the moment!). What I want to focus on with the next one is MUCH better quantity of art work for the surroundings (buildings etc etc). Doing a circuit racer actually lends itself well to this for me because the buildings are all behind the fences so i don't need to worry about how they look against the grass of the terrain (if that makes sense)!
I really enjoy the physics in this game, any new use of this engine would be more than welcome. Nurburgring would be awesome, f1 is cool but I would love a tour car racer myself. Also is a top gear track bonus stage possible?
I suppose given it was featured on the AppStore over 150 countries and that it got Game of the Week, I gues perhaps it is strange yes! You never know though, some reviews take over 4 weeks to come in!
Not a bad idea you know, the TopGear one that is! (Of course it would have to be called something else!)
Here's a sneak of replay mode, this is actually me playing back my brothers times (of which most are #1 of Finland rally I believe!)
Spoiler alert: There's a review in queue that Shaun finished last Thursday, and I had wanted to get up on Friday, but couldn't due to traveling home from E3. So look for it later today! Spoiler alert alert: It's a pretty good review
