Touring cars?? I'm in!! Hell, whatever you do next, I'm in.. If it has the quality of RR2 then it will be great without a doubt.
The irony is that it is actually far easier to create procedural tracks than rally stages, its really easy to make the graphics look better because it is a lot more sparse. The problem with the stages is populating stuff in the distance. I only found this out when messing about with Rally Cross, so in theory circuit racing should be an easy win!
Will do! Once I've done this RR2 update, I'll start planning out the next game (I've actually got a 2 week holiday away from any form of computer soon, so i'll take a pen and paper and plan it out!!)
19th of June is the next race of F1, just if anybody wants to tune in. I can see that touring car racing is easier to create though. So I'll be happy with that either. ^^ On a side note, F1 is more popular though. At least, that is my guess. Although I'm a bit late to the party here, I'm always in for testing.
No probs, an F1 style racer is on the cards for the popularity reason you suggest, what ever I do it won't be worse than the current games out there for mobile! Because i'm not tied to a license I have no doubt that I can make it fun and not boring anyway! Should you want to be bet testing, send me your email to [email protected] and i'll add you.
Actually there is currently no F1 racer at all on iOS, right? (With at least a bit of quality) I'll send my email.
Got it ta, I need to really sort out my next set of beta testers as I don't think everyone who tested this will want in in the next one! Also I've bought the quatrro as a Base, it needs a bit of work to reshape and texture to make it slightly different so watch this space GPS!
Yeah probably the best would be to create a new thread and let everyone apply again, once you start with the new game. Put your name in the title and the existing beta testers will recognize you.
I'm a little late to the game. But I've wanted a new rally racing since thier last release so I just bought it. Also I drive a 2002 Subaru Impreza WRX with a bunch of suped-up after market parts. So yeah I'm excited to play this.
Never miss a single grand prix!!! So nice to see LewHam back in top form. Baku, European GP, this weekend. Side note: Rossburg makes me sick, such a lil baby. My friends and I refer to him as the 'Gerber baby.' At BM, an F1 ios racer would be utterly incredible left in your capable hands. You're probably the only dev the that could handle it properly without question.
Not a fan of Hamilton here, glad he crashed so max can make a chance again. ^^ One downside of creating a F1 game would be all the rules though. There are so much things that need to be thought about. A rally race is less complex when it comes to racing rules etc. Although a lot of things will probably the same as in touring car races.
Most of them should be pretty simple to implement, I coded alot of that stuff for an F1 game I worked on about 5 years ago! The thing thatscares me is 20+ cars racing at one time. The physics currently integrates at 360hz, so i'd need to pull the AI down to 60Hz and hope it works as well
Just stumbled across another excellent review http://macworld.nl/iphone/rush-rally-2-eindelijk-weer-eens-echt-racen-op-je-smartphone-70234
Honestly an F1 game would be a dream come true on iOS. There is absolutely no representation of formula 1 on the AppStore in years now and it is quite depressing. Brownmonster Sir, please if you could, kindly make an F1 game. Touring is great but F1 is much better. Go Lewis Hamilton!!! He brought excitement to that division after years of mostly boring drivers.
Sounds good! Is it a really dumb thing to suggest to lower the complex physics for AI drivers? Since the player just drives his own car and has no idea of the complex physics of the other cars? It probably is.
Maybe I'm wrong, but I think it's a matter of AI's "consistency". Stephen should re-calculate it. I know for sure AI's physics is simplified in rFactor 2 and Project CARS, though. In the latter AI could drive on wet like it was dry...
It's very normal to simplify the ai physics yes, I'd need to spend a bit of time smoothing it out at a lower frame rate to avoid jitter. I really want to keep them handling the same as humans though so as to make it fair! The other thing is purely model complexity, basically adding different lower LODs to the models which is more work too!
