you should be able to see what happens in game when you slide that but now you should be alright leaving it at 100%... its for really old devices really.
OK so my motion blur "so called optimisations" were a big fail on the latter devices! If you can't hack the slow down it causes, turn it off until version 1.35 comes...
Split/Second was 30, you're right. There's a lovely video of a 60fps hack here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NRBKujiCGm4 Burnout Paradise was definitely 60fps on Xbox 360. Forza too. But those are console games! I've yet to see any halfway serious racer at 60fps on iOS—so congrats! I'm not a fan of Motion Blur in this game because—when using bonnet cam—you can see a visible crescent/arc where it begins, just ahead of the car on the road. Could it be a bit more gradual? Game is definitely faster all round (even with motion blur) on my iPad Air 2. Auto Graphics used to give me everything switched on at 62% resolution, but since the update everything is on at 100% resolution. Perfect! Graphics glitch: watch attract mode and wait for helicopter cam (the very highest viewpoint). when a car goes behind a tree, the part of the tree that obscures the car turns various shades of bright green!
The next version (1.35) - I've just removed the "real" motion blur as it wasnt fast enough, its now a simple radial blur and it looks way better for this game, and removes lots of expensive matrix shader operations to calculate speed from depth! So next update let me know what you think. I think its much better. -I know run solid 60hz on my iPod touch 6th AND it doesn't get hot (its also 95% 60hz on tvOs now) - Graphics glitch, is not a glitch, it is so you can see the car through the trees, its an intentional effect (inverse depth) for the top down camera in rush rally 1 (I may have to remove it for attract mode though as when you are not playing it isnt necessary) - Tyre and suspension degrading now scaled by length of race/stage - Tyres broken - the icon rotates! - Facebook works again - It will pause after coming back from the home screen - Adjust transparency of on screen controls (requested by someone I cant remember who!) Thats it for tonight, the build I guess will be in the new week as apple sign off over the weekend! 60hz racing surely must bag me an iOS feature !
Button transparency was my request, thanks a lot for putting it in! Looking forward to next build with the adjusted tire wear. Actually, that whole change log seems great.
Great stuff! Will this next one be on tvOS? Apologies about the inverse depth, I've never used any of the external camera modes! Well, except for trailer mode but I never noticed it there.
Game just oozes quality! Amazing what you have done and every build just blows my mind, and this is on mobile! I can't wait till the final is released
It's only on the top down cameras (which are attract mode only for this game!) I have a build for tvOS ready to push, but I'm holding back till the above goes in.
Cheers, I realised last night that it really should be up there competing with the AAA games like Real Racing and Asphalt (of course this is a different category of racing game so it's not a direct competitor). Hopefully it will get the recognition it deserves, if not then I really don't know how games companies are staying a float!
I hope so to, but, IMHO, this game has way more substance than RR or Asphalt. I personally think those 2 are ok. Big reason, FTP, in my personal opinion, don't care much for that. This game just itches my niche and offers more, even as a beta. Can't wait for the final product and so looking forward to investing my time in this. Keep up the great work, on the right path!
Yes they do, so sad. I surely hope, this takes off for you, the first one was very impressive, this one is just simply amazing! I'll do my part to support and promote when available, I can assure you that
Pretty much every hard turn. Some mediums. Use it to swing the back out, point your front wheels the way you want to go with steering, and maintain as much speed and forward momentum as possible around corners. Maybe there could be some challenges based around driving techniques? Not quite Gran Turismo level stuff, but to teach people how to drive "rally style". http://www.oldrallysport.on.ca/articles/Driving.html
Thanks for the tips! I'm finding it much harder to play than other races. But very entertaining and challenging.
I tried the unoptimised tvOS build anyway. Crashes often. Bug: pressing the touch pad (to go back) is a bit unexpected. And it quits the game if you do it on the title screen. Navigating the menus is a nightmare. Especially the scrolling lists. It took me a few minutes to change the camera angle! Question: how do you use the handbrake with the Siri remote? I think it would be good to show button mappings for external controllers somewhere in the menu.
Press both buttons at once for handbrake! I have a task to show a controller mapping on first boot. The crash is always audio, happens on iOS too. The controller mappings are the wrong way round too for the standards!
Just read this again. I think we can do all the driving techniques he mentions in the game! I'll have to check braking to tighten a turn, as it's not something I do consciously. Can't see any reason why the physics wouldn't support it? The only hazards we're missing that he mentions are water splashes. And maybe moguls? I'd also love to see hill climb (and decent) stages.
Hill climbs were planned and may sneak in on a few counties, it's only a spline after all! See earlier posts on this thread!
