Everyone who has emailed me so far will get to beta test it, spaces are running out thought now as that includes the mass influx I got yesterday (Thanks to TA for the upcoming front page spread!).
I've been struggling for time these last few weeks, however I finally got some time to create all the livery textures for the cars, as well as create unique audio sets for each, and tweak the models some more to make them look better in game. Its all starting to come together now! I still need to finish the last two cars off because some where I said there will be 8 cars (and I only have 6 so far!). I'm also at a point where I'm trying to decide how the championship mode will go. Basically championship mode is a full set of rally stages played in order against 19 AI times which accumulate with each stage. Damage persists across stages. The dilemma I have is this: Do i divide the cars up into say 3 classes, so you start with the "slower" cars, then unlock the faster ones. Each championship has a max class so you cannot start it with a "too" fast car, this will encourage people to play it all and unlock the faster cars, which can then be used in time trial on any of the stages. Or do i simply make all the cars the same speed (they currently top out at 300bhp like the current WRC cars, but all have different engine torque curves delivering this power) This one is on you people, make you decisions now (Edited to add the two new cars to make the total of 8)
Firstly... I hope one of the other two cars is the Audi Quattro, a legend for sure! Secondly the cars you've shown so far look amazing! In my opinion for progression, start off slower and unlock the faster cars as a reward. Which ever you decide I am buying this for sure!!!
Thanks, I'll do another in game video at some point as its looking a hell of a lot better now than it did, I'd love to get the quattro in myself but it will probably have to be an addon once the game makes money . I've actually pencilled in and started a Mini Cooper S (new one) and Skyline R34 but they need a bit of love before i can show them, I know the skyline isn't really a rally car (although they have competed before), but I'm hoping it opens up to more people getting the game by varying the cars at the start. I really need to sell to people the whole online leaderboards and ghosts too as people seem to miss that on the last one!
Talking of the skyline, I've just spent the last few hours breaking down the model into sub parts, slapping materials on and getting it ready for game. I'll hopefully get a shot of it in game over the weekend!
Can I be enrolled to betatesters please? Sick of racing games. I made an application through email but didn't get any reply.
Hey, everyone who has sent me a mail will get a chance to test the beta, you will be notified when it is ready. I just need to finish off the auto graphics detect stuff before it can go public. The first beta version will be slimmed down to one championship as well as I need to finish the other 5 off still! I'm *hoping* that it will be ready for submission to beta in the next week or so (which then takes about another week for apple to turn it around too) as really I'd like to get as many people testing this as possible. I want this one to be perfect as currently I'm really happy with it and I want everyone else to feel that way
So the weekends work and last nights efforts yielded these two finished beauties to finish off the car roster. That's 8 in total, I'm planning on making 2 of them class C, 2 Class B and 4 class A, which will be unlocked as you progress. I'm probably going to make one of the Class C cars FWD as well to make it a bit different.
Thanks, Wait till you play it, I can't stop playing it! Usually after making 10's of AAA games I get bored of them, but I just can't stop playing this one! I'm quite happy with the handling but it may need tweaking after I unleash it to you lot. I just hope this one makes me some money, making it paid from the start will help, and also the fact the camera is how most people like it should help out! Personally I think it tops the current rally games that are out there by a long way (and none that I have found have the ghost/leaderboard system of this one). I've got the build ready on iOS now, Just need to do a few tests on my friends devices to check how it performs across the range. The first Beta release will be very "slimmed" down, but hopefully it'll be enough to get you all interested!
Just got my shiny new Gen 6 iPod touch, and started replaying the first Rush Rally, wow! So much nicer with all the fx.. Such a great game. Basically, I got the new Gen 6 touch for Rush Rally 2, so I could get the best from it, it is gonna look amazing!!!!
Great stuff, I've not actually released an update of Rush Rally since it was released so its missing a lot of the new features implemented. In fact Rush Rally struggled on the high res devices because there was no resolution scale (shorttly after release I added a slider to allow you to scale the res down but have the gfx all on high, but i never actually released the update!). GFX quality is now on a set of sliders for each section and the auto detect is MUCH better (I just finished it last night!), on top end devices you can even have real time reflections on the car which is nice. When i'm happy with the state of the engine I'll actually release an update to rush rally just prior to releasing Rush Rally 2. This also means Rush Rally will come with nice new realtime shadows and bloom effects. I promise you not long before it goes openly beta, I'll also have another Beta stage soon where a few of the "keener" players get a beta version just before I unleash it to all beta testers who applied.
I've just submitted a VERY EARLY BETA build to Apple, it will not be available to all those who applied just yet, however a few people who have been very active with the development of this game will get a chance to try it when it gets approved, I really need to get some feedback on the handling and the frame rate!
