Ok... This latest build I have been playing today is just plain incredible. I have been out of the country on business since late summer 2015 and have only played the earlier builds of which I found to be on track to be one of the best rally games offered in the AppStore. now back in the states, I was ready to get my hands on the latest build and log some racing from the comfort of...yes you guessed it, my couch! Right away I noticed the graphics have improved greatly. After running the graphics detecting software, I noticed that that many of the settings were enabled that were NOT in the early build. I was concerned because lag issues is my biggest complaint with many games. So excited that this thing runs smooth as butter on iPad 3 and looks fenominal! I played around with car settings and found what works for me and I noticed the car physics were more predictable than I recall early builds may have been, could just be lack of time in the saddle though. I have only a couple hours with this latest build and need a day or so to play and really immerse myself into the game to really offer pro's/cons but thus far, the game is night and day from what we all started with initially. I appreciate the opportunity to test and will be tearing it up the next couple days! Will report my thoughts once I get my hands on that R34!
It runs great at max (6s), though I have noticed it gets a tiny bit grainy at high speeds. I'll try to snag a screenshot but it's so minor I doubt it would show. I played for maybe 2 hours straight yesterday and I noticed the phone stays at room temperature. Not sure if that was something you did intentionally but it's pretty great! The Co-driver on Germany seems a bit buggy but I'm not positive. Also the top 19 times on Germany are all the same, I imagine that's due to needing more sample times? Loving the course though, halfway through it at the moment. Great stuff!
OK cool, 6s probably doesn't get hot as its not being stressed out like the other devices! (just to outline how bad the Samsung phones are, my Samsung S6 runs at 50hz all on for 2 minutes, it gets hot then drops to 20fps, at least the apple devices can keep the frame rate solid!!!) Co-driver is buggy on that due to the quick corner succession, its been on the list for a while, I need to sort him out! The times havent been set yet so will look at that too ta!
I actually didn't know about all the extra car settings until last night when I played the game after updating it to your new release, so a pop up window would be good to explain it all, I didn't realise you made it that in depth, very cool. I'll try the graphics setting thanks, but the game looks great and runs very smooth and the FPS is spot on too. You've made a great little game mate, congratulations, I think it should do well. How are you going to make your money? Charge as a premium app or in app purchase?
Premium all the way, to be free with IAP you need a MASSIVE user base. Also making it premium will mean people know w they are getting a great full game for a one off small price.
Managed to have a little more of a play with the blur at lunch today and have adopted a more "split-second" approach by masking the screen off into separate section so I can make the lower region blur alot more and the result is the same frame rate but better looking blur Excuse my Pink R34
I applied too but never got a reply (that was a while ago right after you the first game was out) anyway I am waiting patiently for this game to come out, I'll happily but it
Just played it for 5 minutes and I am really really impressed! What a great game (definitely the best rally game on IOS from what I have seen so far). The controls were a bit heavy at first but it soon became much easier after a few minutes. Well done dev! I'll keep playing and will send you a feedback.
Thanks and feedback is good. Some of the people on here have hand crafted parts of this game really from ideas that have floated about, and yes there is a Skyline for 2 reasons: 1. It was a test to see if non rally people would be interested (and ther ewas a definite peak of interest from others when I showed it) 2. Its just great to drive as you'll find out! I made the controls heavy after watching people constantly snake all over when it was more twitchy, the lancia could be a little less heavy though I think.
Oh a Skyline!!! My dream car, I love it so much! We can see many here in Japan. By the way your game is really a gem! I love it because it's a proper simulation and not one of those horrific super arcade racer in which you never use the break or even need to turn. Those new game are just lane racers like temple run. Will there be more countries to race in? I'd love to have an Asian country like Japan, China or Taiwan (probably because I am a big Initial D fan). Talking about Initial D, Jay Chou (the main actor in the first movie) is doing the number 2 which is a great news for those who watched it and enjoyed it.
Thanks for the new build, tonight i'll be finally able to play a bit again. One other thing i noticed in the builds before is important mention though (or did you fix that already?): reset on track button is missing on MFI controller!
New build is awesome! The sense of speed seems to have been upped from previous. Finland is a blast!! My only issue, which you are aware of, is heat. my latest Gen Touch gets super hot, almost uncomfortably so.. The settings I've reduced are: Resolution 95%, Shadowing Medium, Reflections Low, Particles Medium, Detail High, Post processing and motion blur are both on. It still cooks with those settings.. As mentioned I know you are aware of this issue, but I just wanted to give you an idea of what settings I am using, as lowering some of them hasn't really made a difference to the heat buildup. Otherwise, Amazing job to get this game to such a high standard # Thanks
Also, after finishing a stage it's still not possible to move on to the next stage using a controller. Yesterday it was the first time that i compared my times on the leaderboard. Not too bad me thinks.I was especially surprised of being the first of the 3 last german stages.I was really not a fan of germany when it appeared first but it plays much better now. I palyed 3 rallies yesterday it's SO good...looks great, plays great (i love the new details on the tracks like the trees on argentina) Sweden ralliy was not loading first (got stuck in the loading screen),had to restart the game
I played a bit of Australia and Germany last night and will be tweaking them some more, the chicanes are a pain with the camber on the track as most of the time I just end up flying off the track! I've also fixed the co driver on these tracks as he was just getting it all wrong as you said. I'll probably just make them less "bumpy" and a bit "wider" as having lots of corners in succession is what makes these ones different from the others.
So I have finally sat down and played the game through all the way, and made some tweaks to make it much better and more polished. My favourite track is Germany 6, and Germany is now swapped with Australia. Some tracks are slightly changed to fix holes in the mesh. -I've added re-spot to the game controller on the "back/select" button. -Added lots more information as to what is going on based on feedback. -Made the flow better some more -Re-written the racing line algorithm to generate better apexes which make the co-driver work properly, the racing line colour (for braking) work better, and the AI drives better in rally cross too -Optimised the blur to make it better (adaptive tiling) -Made Germany easier -Made the AI more competitive during championships -Miles/Km switches instantly -And loads more I can't think of -And whilst I got a bit side tracked, added support for custom splines to the track generator. Any one fancy Spa; Rush Rally Styleeee?! (this could be a hint as to what might be coming after this game too...) Build coming this week sometime!
