It's a bit Forza motorsporty in how it works but it works well! Especially on the leaderboards so you can see who set what time with what car and class! I think apple shut down over Xmas so not looking likely that the build will be approved until the new year :/
I'm going to push the build with dirt on the cars and a few other things for you all to mess about with this week (if you get time ). I've also made a few slight car input tweaks, especially to countersteering, which I'm not convinced on so i'd like to know if you think it is better or worse (I've literally changed 2 values to open it up a bit but i find its too sensitive now so will probably find a balance in the middle). I've also added some more fail screens and fixed profile picture display for those connected to Facebook/GameCenter. N.B. The dirt is a first pass and needs tweaking for each surface, but you'll get the general idea of it!
By the way, I need to update/change the pictures of the drivers of AI in championship mode. If anyone wants a custom profile picture in there I don't mind adding it (within reason!) also I could do with some more names as some of them are a bit naff. (I tried to go down the sensible soccer route of swapping a few characters but it only works on a few...!)
Gonna try downloading now, not at home at the moment, so relying on my data hotspot.. Update sounds good, hopefully I'll be able to test over the coming days, Cheers
Ok managed to fire this up and play a little. The handling change doesn't seem to have a too drastic effect as far as I can tell, it may have been slightly smoother in the prior build, but I think either works. Love the dirt on the car, but because I only use bonnet cam, I only see it after finishing a stage, or in attract mode..cough,.. Replays.. Cough .. # Such a good game already, thank you.
Perhaps I'll just vary the cars a little more so some are more smoother and some more twitchy! I'll have to try and add some dirt on the bonnet too!
Oh wow, this game is good. It looks great and it feels even better. The touch controls are perfect. I haven't busted out my controller yet but honestly, it feels good enough without one. I emailed a beta application a bit ago and within 5 minutes I get a message from the dev and Testflight download. Now that's cool as hell. I will post some more thoughts after finishing reading the thread and trying a controller, but for now I'm going back to playing it. I'm incredibly hyped for this game's release! Edit: a few notes I've been taking while playing - beautiful game, its looks and runs incredible at max settings on a 6s - perfect touch and tilt controls - crashes using Steelseries Stratus and no menu navigation (it's a garbage controller so I'm blaming the crashes on that) - Achievements tied to Facebook make me sad - hands down the best racing game of any type I've played on iOS - if this isn't a massive success I will seriously lose the last bit of hope I have for mobile gaming
1. You are right, facebook achievements are dead now, this was a hang over from RR1. 2. Agreed, but them I'm biased ( I'd expect it to be up their given how many racing games I've worked on ) 3. Also agree, its sad that we keep getting all these endless runners and quick pickup puzzle games on mobiles/tablets, especially given they have more power than previous handheld consoles!! (Dashy Crashy is an exception, its fun and a good one!!). More feedback = better game so keep it coming!!
The mobile market is such a strange place, but people seem to be happy getting the same generic clones over and over again. The same people that complain about paying $4.99 for a game will not hesitate to drop $49.99 on IAPs in a free game. The illusion of 'free' is pretty ingenious, but it will be the death of gaming. After a bit over 2 hours of track time, I'm loving the game. I hopped right in with assists and racing lines off and felt right at home. It really shows what a great game it is. I can't wait for leaderboards and Rally Cross! - I really like H4nd0fG0d's idea of using 3D touch for manual transmission. Having Apple's latest gimmick implemented is a great way to draw more people in. There would need to be another method for older devices, though. - It would be cool to have a few different preset tuning options for each car. I don't know much about tuning so I tend to leave it default and I feel that's a pretty big mistake that is taking seconds off my lap times. - Argentina seems a bit too easy, but that may be because of just coming off the loose terrain of Sweden. It's great how they feel totally different, though. I'm a big fan of that.
Excellent stuff, I was actually thinking about swapping Argentina and Sweden around anyway, I wanted to keep sweeden early on though as it looks cool and pretty visuals early on in games keep people playing! As for leaderboards you can see them in time trial already provided you are logged in to game centre or Facebook. I will be adding ability to see total championship times too as they are already in the database! Glad you are enjoying it though! Let's hope it becomes the benchmark for mobile Rallying!
Sweden and Argentina are both incredible looking. The lighting is beautiful. Argentina is probably my favorite at the moment. I see the leaderboards now, haven't spent much time in Time Trials yet. I'm right behind you on Stage 1 Argentina, though. I'm gonna have to snag that top spot So I clicked the downlaod button by your time and I'm racing your ghost now? If so, that is insanley awesome.
That's correct yes! I might need to make it more obvious whose ghost you are racing in game (friends will have their picture next to it) also the next version will have the car class next to it (I think I set that time in the skyline (class s))
Finally snagged it in an Impreza but I think you'll take it back easily just by getting through that first chicane cleanly. I screwed up last turn which I'm not too happy about. Ah cool, good to know so I can still go for unlocks.
When I finish it I'll start setting some times! It's too easy to get competitive before its finished. By the way Germany isn't finished yet and Australia is half done too!
