Hehe yes, they are tricky! I need to drive them all and maybe make them a bit easier in places anyway. As for track side objects, I'll be revisiting all that once the game flow and tracks are nailed down. Visuals can be updated easily and you can end up spending far too much time on them if you are not careful!
Random question this time, what are the chances of other rallies appearing, two of my faves being Monte Carlo and Rally GB..
If it makes enough money I'll get an artist to create proper artwork for the tracks. There's only so much I can do unfortunately! That said gb wouldn't be too tricky, monte carlo however is a different kettle of fish!
Finland in the Focus is my new favorite! The speed is awesome and completing a clean run feels fantastic. Also I think the time on the final German stage is out, I had a pretty clean run and lost by 2 minutes on that stage alone#
Well,i played through all stages and there is a lot of feedback incoming now 1. something with controls (MFI controller)is not as enjoyable as before me thinks. Cars feel more bulky and the handbrake is not as easy to control than before.I tend to avoid it now.Or sensitivity option for controller could help.Right now i have the feeling the game doesn't react good enough to fine adjustments with the stick.I tend to pull it mostly hard left/right now.Or is there a kind of lag involved now?I don't how to describe it exactly.Just that i think it was a bit better in the light version. 2. The cars seem to break too easy on the first 3 rallies now.Even without making any (bigger) mistakes i mostly have a (roughly) 30% damaged car. 3. I almost never get any checkpoint times, makes it hard to realize how good (or bad)my current run is.I had this bug before but it seems worse in the premium version 4. I had a crash in the middle of germany stage 1.That was the first time while racing. Before it happened only 2-3 times (in the light version) while i was in the menu 5. Australia times are a bit unbalanced.I had a bad run on stage 6 but i won this stage nonetheless with 25 seconds ahead (and the whole rally with 40 seconds). 6. Germany times unbalanced as well. It's way too hard for my taste.Stage 2 is a pita, couldn't make it any better than 25-27 seconds behind the first. And then there was stage 6....i ended it with ONE minute TWENTY seconds behind the first one.Although i made one mistake, this can't be true.I was on th 6th place before and this dropped me down to place 17 in the final ranking. 7. Often enough the copilot is not really reflecting what's going on"outside"It differs from the green racing line (yes,i used it this time ) and while the racing line was nearly always right, the copilot did tell me something else.Example:germany stage 1,first corner.Copilot says it's"easy"while in fact it's definitely not easy.It would be an easy corner without the top speed you reach here, yes.I started to ignore him and use the map more often (but that's not the"real"rally feeling) And sometimes he's just too late. That is most noticeable on germany with all the corners. "...over a crest into...(i went over the crest).....................hard left" ( but i already hit a tree) 8. The stages of the difficult tracks (australia,germany..) are generally longer (up to over 3 minutes) while the faster and more fun (too me) stages are generally much shorter.Yes,that has also to do with the fact that you are...um....faster but i wish it would be a bit more of the opposite.I hate germany for example ;-) Not saying it's bad in this game i just never liked it in any rally game because of tarmac and corners, corners, corners 9. The graphics could be improved a little in germany and australia. I'm down to a 50% resolution now (and never used more then medium shadows and reflections) and still the other tracks are much smoother.i know australia has a lot of (nice) vegetation and before you remove trees for it to make it smoother i would just stick with how it is now.I like the look. 10. there is no sign in what rally league you play and that you are unlooking faster cars when you win the world cup or is it not available in this version? 11. i still prefer the"classic"rally system where you earn points in every rally instead of always aiming for the first 1-2 places.I don't like it if i suck in a certain rally (like germany) but the game pushes me to play it over and over again until i have beaten it.And IF you suck in a certain rally then the chances are high that you also don't like this rally very much. But you have to play especially THIS stages/rally more often than the others.I think you get the point Overall it was fun to play thru the whole cup and while i can see the point of having the most difficult rally at the end i would suggest putting one of the faster/easier ones between Australia and germany.Australia has also a lot of corners, can be a tad too much (for my taste)if you have two "corner rallies" in a row. one suggestion for another racing line option: instead of having it just on/off another option were the line is only visible when needed (i.e. before it gets yellow/red) would be great. There many parts on a track were the green line is just not necessary
I'm going to be short and to the point. I agree with this! The racing line option is easy too. Thanks for pointing out bugs too!
I've actually fixed this but not in your build, for some reason the progression "new car" screens were broken. I'm planning on adding a new rally one too.
I'm also planning on allowing stages to be unlocked regardless of pass/fail the championship, so basically you can still play through them all regardless of skill, however some cars may only be unlocked when you "win" them for example.
ok,i have to take back what i said about the controls.I made a 1 vs 1 comparison with the lite version and there is not really a difference.I have the"feeling"there is a very small difference but maybe it's just that...a feeling I made the mistake to play the first 3 rallies with the Lancia (that i never tried before) and that made a big difference. So,more of a user error I also tried a more"experimental"graphic setting now.Shadows and reflections to"low",particle to"medium" and resolution full up to 100%. It runs mostly VERY smooth (a tad less on Australia but still impressive) and i absolutely love to have no aliasing (on the trees) anymore on the big ipad screen. And the difference between low and high shadows is not THAT much it seems. And since i use bonnet view,i don't care that much about thereflections.
Great stuff, The lanica is a lot less slower than the others, the cars get more powerful as you progress, I think I will be labelling the vehicles class C -> A to make it easy to understand. The idea is that people who are not experts will be able to play and have fun still as the AI is scaled based on car power/speed. There is a difference, just not a massive one. When you unlock a new car it will tell you the power/class (when you get my next update). I've made a change to the Racing line and it works really well when it comes on only when you are driving too fast! As for the latter stages, i'm going to tone it down to like 25% of the track hard and twisty, the other 75% more smooth and fluid as I completely agree, I've done it just to see how far it can be pushed TBH!
Sounds like music to my ears Also the option for the racing line, looking forward to try it! I'm totally back into this game now, scratch what i said about the handbrake as well.I just needed to use my favorite car again (the Austin Metro) to fly through the nature And playing this game in full resolution and with a mostly somehwat 60fps is beyond awesome on the Air2. I don't mind if the shadows are more pixelated now, they are flying by so fast,i don't notice it often. And with the very short bonnet on the Metro,i don't see much from the reflections anyway. I experienced something weird with the other cars: The reflections on the bonnet view distract me a little when making sharp turns.I don't know how to say that but it was first noticeable on the Escort with the black bonnet but couloured fender. Now i see this on other cars as well The reflection turns in a different angle then the car and my brain focussed on this movement and not on the"real"movement. The result is that i often estimated a slighty wrong direction after a corner.I don't know if that makes any sense but i really can't explain it better. This doesn't happen when the reflections are off (but i don't want to switch them completely off) but also not with the Metro (short bonnet and no rounded bonnet/fender). Well, maybe it's just me.I had one drink too much yesterday and my head still feels a bit muddy
That's one of the best looking skyboxes (and lighting) in this game! By the way,now that your game has more content...i deleted WRC and C....ehm...the other rally game from my devices
FYI, stuff ive tweakd so far, I'll get a build done tonight if I get time! - I've fixed the checkpoints (they were broken because of looped track additions) - I've added a new racing line (off/braking only/full) - I've fixed the unlock cars ui so you will now see them unlock properly - I've added a bit more time to the codriver (earlier speaking) although it might need a bit more than that - Medium shadows will become High shadows, I think there is no need for them to be as high detailed as low detail is fine anyway - Germany will have less tarmac, I agree the tarmac is a bit dull for a rally game, in fact I'm thinking of putting Finland first up, and changing Spain a bit. - Are you still having damage issues, which car parts specifically, you will notice this because now you can only repair every other stage rather than every stage.
I actually really like the Tarmac... But less of it is good too, I'm really keen to test the new driving line, I think it's gonna work really well. I like the way the damage works, because you can't always fix everything, having to prioritise is an interesting twist. This is a bit random but If I have one gripe, whilst I like how it drives, the Nissan GTR seems out of place on the car roster. I have seen them in Targa type rallies, but not really in WRC type rallying. It's not a big thing, but I had thought it before, and hadn't mentioned it.
Could you eventually lowering the times needed in germany as well? I would like to hold the world trophy in my hands And thanks for less tarmac.I don't wanted to say anything about it again (already did it with finland) as it's also a matter of taste. But i don't like tarmac too much.
Agreed with the GTR, I added it though to see if it pulled in more players, and suddenly I got an influx of people who don't necessarily like rallying. I'd like to leave it in to try and pull in more players, and get more people excited about the game. WRC is no where near as popular as it used to be so it would be nice to pull in others. I'm thinking that it would eventually be unlocked as part of the skill games modes instead of the championship.
