Whoops! Totally read over the part it isn't released yet and you're still working on the build. My apologies as I will wait patiently. Best of luck on the final tweaks for the next to be released build.
If that's the case, call it the 'Colin & Nicky Trophy'. Everyone knows it's referring to colin mcrae and nicky grist, but it may be a way to get around it.
Good news, the latest build is in beta review, so you should have your hands on it in a few days (hopefully tomorrow). This will be the "Actual" version without adverts. I would keep the Lite version installed anyway for now to test back to back if you want to, this willsoon be replaced with a demo version and have only a tiny amount of content. You'll notice now that the vehicles start slower and get faster as you unlock them, the game is still not "balanced" but there is now a small flow and sense of progression going on. Let me know how you all get on! Getting closer!
It's worth noting it is a new database again, and thus your data will be reset! I'll try and keep this as the last database change until release now.
Morning, So quite a few of you have already started testing the new version, and as usual I've already found some bugs with it, this time on the world leaderboards. I guess the main thing I want to know is this: Now it starts with a slower cars and you unlock faster ones as you progress, is it too "dulled" down for initial players, is it enough to keep people hooked and want to play more? I think I could do with another few dialog screens on the first play, after the tutorial, to outline how you unlock faster cars or similar. I'm going to be revisiting the spanish tracks anyway because they are quite dull compared to all the others (too straight, not windy enough and not enough terrain detail!) Let me know your initial thoughts anyway, try and forget that you have played with the faster cars on the better tracks, as this will be how new players will first start off with the game and that first impression is vital. Is it worth perhaps making finland the first rally as it looks so nice?
Just downloaded, I've only tried the warmup so far, but the look and feel have definitely advanced, Really like the idea of the warmup to get a feel for things before jumping in.. I'll play some more tonight once the kids are snoozing and give some more feedback. Cheers
Haha I know that feeling, I've got a living room to re-decorate in the next week whilst trying to push on with this! When the kids are awake there is no chance
I'm only half way through Spain, did you tweak the feel of the cars.. I'm using th Lancia, and the feeling of weight is fantastic! The way it lands after jumps, the feeling of weight transfer is really really nice. I hadn't noticed this in previous builds to the same extent.
Yup well noticed . They all need a pass on them, but the Lancia has had "the most" work. They have more inertia than before, I've also tweaked the cameras some more too.
Can I also say.. The Escort in Finland, Happy Days!!. Just finished the first stage with a huge smile on my face. You have nailed this game! All your hard work is well and truly worth it!!!
Great stuff! I just played Spain on the iPod again (I'm so used to playing it on the PC on a large screen) and it looks a lot better than I thought on a small screen. For some reason I think its not as nice looking as the others, I guess its because I see it day in and day out! The Escort may get a little make over "Ken Block - Hoonigan" Style if I have time!
Hoonigan style would be awesome #. That thing looks fantastic(on cars, I would love to see an Audi Quattro, not the crazy S1, but the original more stock version) I think the tracks, terrain, pretty much everything so far that I've seen is spot on, I was actually just thinking on stage 6 Finland, that the graphics are beautiful, I go as far to say console like... Really great stuff. One thing I did just notice and not sure how big a thing it is, there isn't any gravel sound inside the vehicle as you're flying through the forest( might be asking to much, but could add to the feel of the road)
There is but I think all the other audio overpowers it all! I've got a TODO to revisit these sounds as they make a huge difference!
Thanks, its certainly getting there! Just mapping out the skill and rally cross game modes, then I'll do another pass of the game flow (add some more dialog boxes, and perhaps a bit more glorified trophy presentation when you win a championship). Then its just the question of making it look better and more varied which isnt too much of a task given it is all procedurally generated. I just need to add some more assets to use!
