You are right,i almost"forgot".That's because i'm mainly interested in pure WRC racing, just me,the clock, the track, the nature and collecting points until the end of the season I would try the other modes as well of course and i know it is a smart descision from your side to reach a broader audience.
Hill climbing is possible, but it all comes down to how good the stuff in the distance looks, If you look at some of the earlier posts I made I had some really "tilted" tracks that I was testing out will have to try it out i guess and see what happens. Hehe, would it suprise you to know its on the wish list! Actually a fairly easy one as its just something I can bolt on to the high quality shader. It just needs the artwork doing (and OFC snow in snow stages).
not really surprising me but great to read nonetheless Now that i got it working with a controller (FIRST starting the game and then connect the controller) i'm really enjoying it.Driving is fun and while the chase view feels a little slow and cumbersome, the bonnet view is a hell lot of fun and very immersive. It's fast Usually i prefer the chase view in racing games so i can see the beautiful modelled cars (therefore my request about dirt or cosmetic damage) and it's easier to estimate corners or when your car starts to lose grip (that's even more important without having force feedback like with MFI controllers, sadly) but i guess i'll make an exception here. with touch controls i couldn't make it any better than last place but my first try with a controller and won some stages right out of the box.I was even sure to win both rallies but there is ALWAYS this one or two corners waiting where you overpace and totally screw it up Love it Next try
I've always found the complete opposite, in fact the chase camera can make a car feel totally different by adding lag to it, which is why when developing the handling (in every game I've written), its always done in bonnet cam! That's not to say you are wrong, it's more what you are comfortable with I guess. That said, you have said enough for me to revisit that camera and make it better Also the times on Finland haven't been set so don't try to beat them as some may be impossible! As long as you are coming back for more then that's good news!
Glad to know the times aren't set for Finland, I was beginning to think I sucked badly... I'm a bonnet cam man myself, I find with chase cam I watch the car and not the track ahead.
When I get round to playing it one evening I'll stick some basic times in there, I was hoping that I'd get some times from people from the leaderboards but only about 2 people have logged into Facebook (and Gamecenter is not active until it gets released )
Well,i should have added a"to me"but i thought it's obvious if it comes to personal preferences Mainly it's because i can't look left/right the bonnet (in bonnet view),makes it a bit difficult (for me ) to estimate how much space i have before the track"ends".But as i said, bonnet view is pure fun here and i can see myself using both views often! And sorry,i NEVER allow games to connect to facebook. First suggestion for this day:a way to save tuning setups would be neat. There are really a lot of tuning options but i hesitate to play arround with all this stuff because i don't like to lose a perfect setup for each rally again. For now i try only a few tuning options. Btw,how do you liked the idea of adding new countries via IAP?Do you think it could work out?In my dream this here would be the rally game that you can't find even on consoles these days with 8 countries to play with
If I remember right I think you(the dev) are aiming for a Premium game, I'm hoping there are no IAPs to be honest. I didn't count but there will be about 8 rallies? Tried out the tilt again last night, I improved my times, kinda getting to grips with it a little better.
Yeah most people only allow Gamecenter or Googleplay, but they are a pain to set up in the beta environment. Currently it saves the setup with the best lap time only, I think this is certainly one for the future, however I'm not sure I have enabled the "setup from ghost" option in this build yet? I like it, however my experience with IAP is that it turns the game into something people get frustrated with. The amount of criticism I got for RR1 because people had to wait for fuel, even though it was a one of small payment, was incredible. I now like the idea of one payment and you get it all, Ideally this would make me enough money but you never know. By the way I started a poll at the top, going to start doing them more often to open up features. You'll get a new build sometime today with better handbrake, better handling and a fixed controller (not to mention 3x the trees on Finland as a test!)
I think it will be 6, will see where I am once the content is in and everything else is finished. It may be I have time to add things whilst waiting for a good date to release it on. I'll stick tilt on the list as it needs balancing and its not on there at the minute!
Turns out that the mesh smoothing was too intense on the far stuff. This looks MUCH better without having to change anything
I did not mean IAP right from the beginning. You pay for a premium game with already a lot of content.I don't know what price this will cost but i guess it's safe to say it will be not more than a couple of bucks. The typical"starbucks coffee"example comes to my mind. But if they develop MORE content for this game AFTER it's released and offer it to those who are willing to pay for it...why should they do it for free? Why is it not a premium game aynmore then?In fact it still IS and will be.Every console game for 60-70 bucks has IAPs these days, most of them right from the beginning but a game that cost just 5 bucks will get a lot of flak,..i just don't get it.I still have this aweful Monument Valley discussion in my mind and this are moments where i want to punch all of this so called"gamer"idiots. By the way the post is not really directed to you, this are just rhetorical questions but if you want to answer to it...fine I don't have problems with IAPs at all if they are not NECESSARY to move on in a (premium) game. It's ridiculous that a game like Lara Croft Go is being criticised for having IAPs that are just cosmetic (costumes) or a walkthrough (cheating) but in the same moment a lot of people throws tons of money at the screen for pure gambling in Deathwatch (a premium game) and everything is fine (besides there is/was a problem with the random generator but not with the IAP at all). My most hated business mode is f2p with timers. This are not even games anymore to me.But many people expect a lot of content but won't pay for it and before we all got drown in f2p shit (btw, there examples where f2p is done right of course) i would encourage every developer to put a shitload of IAPs in their PREMIUM games. That's the only chance to create a little more sustainable income for premium developer. For Rush Rally 2 it could be new decals, new countries and new cars. The only thing that should be avoided is consumable IAPs.But if you get something for your money that you can even restore (purchases) i absolutely see no problem. It's such a shame that the best (imo)racing sim on ios (2K drive) yet got shredded to bits because they made the mistake to have something like timers in a premium game although you always earned more than enough currency that you NEVER had to face the timers. (man how i love this game btw...playing with a controller and using the Escort on Offroad tracks was one of the best racing experiences in years). ah well...sorry,i'll stop here,i'm just afraid that the time of premium games will come to a bitter end if the majority of iOS gamer just don't get what they are doing wrong. And this while the idevices get more and more power for beautiful gaming experiences back to topic: Sounds all great, can't wait to try the new build and regarding the pollersonally i'm not playing with manual gear shifting (so i'm half an arcade racer. But i prefer realistic driving physics),maybe because i never made a (real) driving license .So,i answered with"no"because for me it means it sucks up developing time for something i won't use.But it's a really egoistic view of course
I agree with pretty much everything there, what annoys me is that I've put 4 1/2 years into the tech for this, got a game on both platforms, made a fair "IAP" for Rush Rally in that it was fully unlocked on one payment only, and it got slammed because people didn't want to pay. That's why this will be Premium from the off. You know premium games will also be of a good quality (mostly) and not just something someone has knocked up in a few days with no polish. Unfortunately because some developers get paid in lottery payouts every day from some games that are free (Like Candy Crush), others think they can do the same thing by releasing crap games that just steal peoples money. Anyway that's my two cents, I'm not wanting this thread to turn into anything other than Rush Rally from now on Not only will this be premium, but with your help it will replace Colin McRae as the bench mark, if it hasn't already done so! Hopefully I can feed my kids with the profits . I've already fixed the controller issues that you reported yesterday, I've just added more Transmission Whine, Turbo Spooling sounds and Blow off valves thanks to HandOfGod for pointing it out. I've mad the distance stuff look a bit better without any extra cost and I'm just about to add the co driver signs back in! Hopefully Apple will get back to me today with a passed build because I want you all to have a play with latest! Are you referring to Rush Rally 2? If so Thanks again, I have to say I'm addicted and I've been working with it for years! It just gets better and better every day!
ah no,sorry.I was talking about 2K Drive. You can get an amazing Rally Feeling on the (few) Offroad tracks and the Escort is a bomb. But your game is on a very good way to be my favorite iOS racer when it's done And Colin is not really a benchmark i would say now.I bought it back in the day when it was released on ios but i never played more than 1-2 stages because i didn't like to use the touch screen controls. You made me hungry so i just gave it another shot now And while i guess its actually the best iOS rally game to date (tha's not hard) now after i played the australia and greek rally i think it's way too easy.I'm grateful about the wider tracks though, otherwise it would be no fun at all to me (again, the controls...) But the AI time is so bad that i can stop a couple of times to enjoy the...skyboxes (greece is awesome) Is that really the old playstation game?it seems stripped down and i have it much harder in my memory. Turbo Spooling sounds, blow off valves and more transmission whine...sounds all great* (you have already nice engine sounds!) btw Shame that the payment model didn't worked out as i think this is the best model, try before you buy is always great since there are no demos at the app store (which is ridicolous given the fact that apple starts to block refunds when you return a few apps.At least here in europe).I also noticed this desaster with beach buggy racing (has also a premium unlock)),it's (imo) the best and most polished fun racer in the store (from the maker of riptide GP) but it seems a total loss for them.
I did realize the questions weren't directed to me, Just trying to be helpful. No worries, Cheers. @ dev, Looking forward to the new build with improved handbrake and handling. Pretty sure I mentioned this previously, but Replays would be fantastic... I'd love to look back at a stage once finished to see where to improve, or watch an epic crash # . Also, another random thought(no pun intended), what would be the possibility of randomizing the weather for stages? Either the weather changing during a stage, or being different when the stage is played at a later date( hope that makes sense.) thanks.
Haha! I've just pushed another build, this will be the last for a few weeks as I'm having a well earned holiday from the middle of next week! I'm going to let all the Beta testers who have applied have a test with this version as well So I can get some more feedback to chew on! Added to the "bottom" of the list, Its doable but will be one of the last things I do. Easy, the whole game works on this now, I can change the entire look of the same track real time anyway (that includes the textures on the tracks as well as lighting etc etc), the only question is "how" to fit it in. Currently the weather effects the grip, and so the times would be inconsistent for each successive run if we vary it as we drive. I'd love to hear thoughts on this though. I can easily make it get darker and lighter on some stages to make it look like sun rise and sun set, do you think it would add a lot to the game?
Everyone who has applied for Beta should now have an invite email in their inbox. Let me know if you don't have one.
