During the holidays, one of my family members bought me a Rubik's TouchCube from Best Buy. It is amazing! If you are a fan of the original Rubik's Cube, the TouchCube is a treat. Here is the website: http://www.rubikstouchcube.com/ And youtube gameplay link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vPcy4Vgt7w4 Its now selling for $50 (on sale from $150). ~The Rubik's Touch Cube is the world's first completely electronic, solvable Rubik's Cube. No twisting and turning required, but colored lights that can be swiped with the touch of a finger. Has anyone tried this yet? I'm eager to know everyones impressions on it, I think its pretty impressive!
WOW! I didn't know this even existed! I want one! Wait... how much was it? I'm not shelling out $100 for a Rubik's Cube.
Whoops, just now I looked at the price..... AND ITS $150!!!! OK, now I'm not buying one. That's outrageous.
Its on sale at Best Buy for $49.99! Its worth the initial asking price, but at the sale price its a no brainer http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Rubik's+-+Rubik's+TouchCube/9492863.p?skuId=9492863&id=1218123789980
The Rubik's TouchCube is a collectors item. Collectors items are bound to be priced higher than an original Rubik's Cube.
The reason for the high price is the new touch sensor technology comes with some extra programming. The Rubik’s Touch Cube has an internal program to help you solve the puzzle, and it has built-in memory that will remember where you left off in your pursuit of the solution when you need to stop playing for any length of time. The Touch Cube also provides you with a choice of sound effects, one of which is the sound of clicking blocks as if you were manually rotating them around.
Oh man, if I knew someone that had one of those and was on the brink of solving, I'd be all over it like Aladdin when he found the lamp.
Looks good, but not for 50 bucks. Sure it has that initial "wow" factor but I think a regular rubik's cube would be more impressive to solve on anyways.
great, take something that was geniusly designed not requiring power and re-design it so it needs power, sounds like an anti-innovation to me. Then again, this is coming from someone who is preferring to use candles instead of lightbulbs to save energy.
Interestingly enough I instantly knew what you were talking about when you said Mennonite, I used to live near some of them Isn't there something to be said about living simply? Enjoying the basic things that the world gives us? I don't know, I'm really high up in my job within technology, I basically put technologies together to make new ones, I wonder sometimes if that's why I hate advancement so much or if it's because living such a complex life is living a life of complexity when you can live simply and be simple.
The last part there is really dang confusing, but I think I know where you're coming from. I still play with legos from time to time. I take a massive bucket, dump it all on the floor and just go crazy. Then I have to get back to creating net ionic equation in chem 2, but it helps
ha, I used to do that all the time, had lego things all over the house. My pal, down the street had a whole room devoted to lego stuff, he was a fanatic. He has a little baby girl now, so I think that turned into her room.
