Control Issues rRootage was one of the very first games i ever got for my iPhone three years ago and it's still my absolute favorite. it has better 1:1 controls than any shmup i've played yet, allowing me to weave through bullet hell with pinpoint precision. rRootage Online, however, has some control issues. mainly, the controls are not 1:1 with your finger movement on my new iPhone 4. i immediately noticed that when moving forward, my finger would slowly cover the ship. in order to keep my ship in view i had to keep resetting my finger behind it, which makes the game unplayable for me. just to test, i played the original version and it still controls flawlessly. i'm ALL about updating one of my favorite games, but i can't recommend this version until the control issue is fixed.
It's a known issue and a fix is already in the works. You know, the thread isn't really that long. You just had to go back a few pages to find that information.
I've just submitted version 1.0.4 for approval. Special thanks to ZorakZoran, who spent a lot of time testing different settings on his iphone4.
I'm sorry but you'll see that it's still not perfect. I have my 3GS to compare, and I couldn't get a setting with one/one response. For some unknown reason up and left are not moving as fast as down and right, as you can see on your iphone 4. Real strange, but dev was able to correct it the best he could while not having the device. So many thanks to weakfl, I think it was a long day for him.
Version 1.0.4 has been approved and should be ready for download shortly. I've also submitted version 1.0.5 for approval, which fixes a bug with the hi-score prompt on devices with iOS 3.x.
And what's next? Retina display support and/or go universal? Almost forgot to thank you for the great game!
I'll probably look into retina support, but don't get your hopes too high yet. I'm still waiting for the hardware, so I'll have to evaluate performance, etc. to see if it's even feasible. I'm also looking into OpenFeint/GameCenter currently. Maybe I'll add some achievements and move online scores there. People seem to like that kind of stuff. You're welcome

I've just tested this on iOS4, and if you turn off music and sfx in the options menu, you should be able to play music from your ipod. Dunno about 3.x. But there seems to be an issue with the volume? I'll look into it...
I'm playing around with OpenFeint and would love to hear some suggestions for achievements. I like all the potential achievements and can't think of any to add. Glad this will have OF, since I still have occasional problems with accessing the leaderboards. Keep up the great work and thanks again for the port.
I finally got my iPhone4 today and was able to fix the control issues. A bugfix will be included in the next version, which should be ready for submission pretty soon. I'm just waiting for some achievement artwork to be finished. Stay tuned! The whole menu system has been remade, too. Here's a preview:
Are you planning to add OpenFeint support? That'd be awesome edit: whoops! didn't read far enough! that's awesome that it's on the way great title and worth 99c at least imo. A paid version with additional features and retina support would be a nice idea to consider
Already finished. Complete with leaderboards and 16 achievements to unlock. I'm just waiting for the artwork for a few achievements.
Is the "control issue" only on iPhone 4 or something? I haven't noticed much lag at all on my 3GS, at least not enough to make the game not fun I'm loving this game so much, by the way. I can't begin to fathom why you keep it at Free. It's a really well-done bullet hell game, and I love all the different modes. I'm guessing Psy mode is an homage to Psyvariar, and Ika mode is obviously an homage to Ikaruga? Can't figure out what GW is an homage to, but I'm sure there's something. It's the best zero dollars I've ever spent, especially in a genre that is notorious for having obscenely high-priced games.
Yes, it's isolated to iPhone 4. Precision issue caused by the higher (touch) resolution of the retina display. Thanks! GW stands for Giga Wing afaik.
