Until Ravensword is released DH is an RPG, you mentioned Zenonia, thats a JRPG [or KRPG] w/e. I know you knew that, just saying.
Well on the paper maybe. I guess its just matter of opionion how you define it. DH is to shallow and simple in mechanics for me to classify as a true RPG. But i guess you are one of those that like to think Diablo is a RPG to? After all, it has a skill tree. =)
No..thats how the gaming world defines it. Obviously your definition is different since I'm guessing the only games you consider RPGs are J/K RPGs which for the most part require an incessant amount of grinding with a "good" storyline If you don't consider Diablo an RPG then..idk..kinda makes you foolish in my eyes, no offense. But seriously.
I like to think you knew my point even if you probobly dont becouse you are 14 years old and i make you mad becouse my opinion differs yadayadayada. Seriously, both Diablo and DH lack in story and mechanic hence they will never be true RPGs for me. It really have nothing to do with W/J/K. About Revensword, have you actually played it? I guess you must have since you actually recommend it to people.
the only people that have played Ravensword on the forums here are der-kleine, squarezero, and i-bowwow. those were the 3 beta testers (not including myself and Russ)
Thats my point. But i have seen like 10 people or so recommend your game. Would be nice to know what they are recommending since they couldn't have played the actual game.
If you read this space earlier, please ignore my comment (forget it if you can). The first rule of Ravensword is: do not talk about Ravensword!
Get the Quest best RPG ever. Just give it some patience and time and you have a game with more than 50 hours of gameplay on your hands (not counting expansions)
Dungeon Hunter? Kill hundreds of monsters? Yeah maybe spread across the entire game, since each dungeon has perhaps 30 enemies. Enemies always come in groups of 2 or 3, and since each dungeon is only like 15 minutes long, the amount is quite predictable. I wouldn't really consider this an action RPG, since it seriously lacks action. Can't believe I'm saying this but if you don't like Zenonia or hate KRPGs in general for whatever reason, you're better off getting something like The Quest or Undercroft. They have immersive story and is more challenging. Any person could finish Dungeon Hunter with extreme ease, there are basically no puzzles in Dungeon Hunter, it's so linear that you can just hold down one direction and go from the beginning of the dungeon to the end.
I'm cautiously optimistic about Ravensword. It looks a lot like Oblivion but sounds like it's really a 3d adventure game with some RPG elements tacked on than it is a true RPG based on comments by the developers. Currently there is no true killer RPG, it just depends on what you're looking for. The Quest - If The Elder Scrolls: Daggerfall was given the controls of a first person turn based game like the old Ultima games, this would be what you'd get. Perhaps a little too deep and open for casual players. Lots of story, including many in game books to read like the Elder Scrolls games do. Undercroft - Similar control style to The Quest, but more linear story and you get to create a whole party. There can be some neat strategy to how you set up your party here. However, I would not say this has much of a story at all. Zenonia - Like SNES Zelda with RPG elements and lots of repetitive combat. I'm not a fan of grinding so don't care for most RPGs from Japan and Korea. One cool thing is you control if your character ends up good or evil as the game progresses. Has a kinda generic story and lots of attempted humor. Dungeon Hunters - A decent diablo style hack-n-slash with RPG elements. If the game allowed more customization in character by choosing their look, class, and skills instead of picking from one of three predefined classes, and had more story, then I would call this the best so far. Elven Chronicles - I think the controls are a little odd, not for me. But it's the most reminiscent of final fantasy that I've seen so far. Only you can see the monsters walking around and try to avoid them instead of being random. Seems to have average depth from what I've seen so far. Nothing to blow you away but if you want a FF type experience this is probably the best right now. Those are the ones I've spent much time playing and my impressions. I hope they help you decide if any of them are right for you.
Yes I'm 14. That's why it says 18 in my profile Story isn't everything in an RPG. No I haven't played RS, but its been compared to Oblivion, which was a really good game, and Gothic, which I never played. Nonetheless, I'm confident in the devs and I'm sure its g2b a good game.
Crusade Of Destiny Crusade Of Destiny is really good. I got CoD and ravesnword and they are both good games
Ravensword is really awesome right now, although it's lacking a bit in the RPG department. It's an awesome game, don't get me wrong, but there are a lot of things RPG's usually have that this doesn't. Elven Chronicles is cool, but there's not much to the story. It's a pretty basic NES/SNES style RPG, and I'm enjoying it alot. But the best RPG you can get right now is Dungeon Hunter. That game is just amazing. I can't put it down once I start. Totally worth the 5 bucks I spent.
I love Ravensword too, but would not yet recommended it to anyone looking for a true RPG. If someone could take The Quest and give it Ravensword controls and visuals I'd be in heaven.
