If you had the amulet in your possession, you should have gone UP to floor 25. If you did not pick up the amulet, and went down the stairs, you can keep doing deeper indefinitely. Each level from 26 onward will have an Amulet of Yendor to pick up. Some people like to see how deep they can go... I've seen quite a few make it to floor 100 or further, it's amazing! That is correct, with the amulet in hand, Ascend is the only option ------ No news on the update that gives a boost to iOS 4 users (and other treats) yet... Apple has not reviewed it yet due to the Holiday weekend, but I would expect to see it go live this week.
That's really weird. I definitely had the amulet, then went down to 27, down to 28, then suddenly UP to 25. In the process I ate all my remaining food, so ended up starving on 25. I'll let you know if it happens again (assuming I can get that far!).
Good news, Rogue Touch version 1.51 has just been approved for sale at 10:45PM EST! The major feature here is improved speed on iOS 4 running devices, but there are a few bug fixes and a new feature It will take several hours to propogate through Apple's various iTunes servers, but you should be able to download the update soon... Anyone with iOS 4, please chime in here with before/after impressions of speed (and what device you are running on). Thanks for your patience, more to come!
Version 1.5.1 is out: What's new: * iOS 4 speed improvements (any device will play faster now!) * Nymphs no longer steal the *last* item of your pack, but a truly random magic item from you * Venus Flytraps now prevent you from going down stairs if held in their vines * Scroll of Safe Passage fixed- it would actually *hide* previously found traps without disarming them. Not anymore! * Tweaks to search messages (scrawlings and gold in cracks will be less frequent) * Slimes will no longer split when hit with a War Hammer * Knockback Atttacks! You have a chance to push back a monster with each successful blow you strike! The chance grows with increased strength and higher experience levels. Monsters that get pushed into a wall or another monster take additional damage!
Disastrous little glitch in game state saving for updated version 1.51 was found overnight. I have already found the offending code and beat it into submission. An update version 1.52 has been submitted to Apple with a request for expedited review. With any luck we could see the update go live sooner than later Right now, normal gameplay is not affected, but if you exit Rogue Touch with a game in progress and return to it later, you'll notice that monsters don't move anymore (among other little details that are processed in the background). I apologize for the inconvenience, and will create some extra goodies and features for the next planned update to make it up to Rogues everywhere. Final note, anyone worried about the leaderboards and cheaters with this "save game" bug will be glad to know I plan to wipe out any cheater scores posted between now and version 1.52 release
Thanks for the update! Although...I guess I will wait for the patch because I play a lot on the go which necessitates a lot of exiting and restarting. Looking forward to trying out the knockback feature though.
Amazed at how fast 1.51 runs on my 1st gen iPod touch. And I'm really enjoying the knockbacks as well. Should be helpful on those evil levels near the bottom. Nice work!
Yeah the speed update is actually helpful for *all* iDevices and iOS versions, but it is absolutely necessary for iOS 4 due to something odd that was broken with drawing into view contexts (that issue has affected many games, pretty much anything that did not use OpenGL to display things ended up slow as molasses on iOS 4). Regarding the small save-game bug discovered in 1.51: I heard from Apple that they are going to grant me an expedited review for 1.52 to fix the glitch. In the meantime, you can play complete games normally, as long as you don't exit and resume that game later. Hopefully the 1.52 update will be approved today or tomorrow if all goes well.
For those that are interested, looks like Version 1.52 of Rogue Touch is finally live! This one fixes the save-state bug in 1.51 and retains the other great additions and monster/magic behavior fixes as well as improved iOS 4 speed (actually faster on all devices now, regardless of OS)! Get it while it's hot, and please update your review or rating in iTunes if you get a chance
Will do! Now I can have a true Roguer folder with this Sword of Fargoal and Cavern (well, at least for starts)!
If you really want to go all out with roguelike folders put this set together: Rogue Touch Sword of Fargoal Cavern 100 Rogues iNetHack SlashEM Powder Don't forget to save room in there for Spirit Hunter Mineko, and something else I am not ready to discuss just yet
Ok, re-posted my review in the app store....I want more content! Somehow I completely missed SlashEm and Powder....will have to try them.
Your wish is my command! Or something like that... I have some bigger plans for Rogue Touch, but will add in one or two smaller content updates between here and there as well
I forgot to include 100 Rogues. i just bought Cavern on sale, but haven't tried it yet. I will check out Powder and SlashEM. Thanks.
Personally, I cannot stand 100 Rogues. I think it is a great example of what happens when good developers with good ideas build games, but forget to include anyone who understands game design or game theory in the making of the game.
