It's definitely a great time waster, I've burned up many hours on it, and I wrote the darn thing. On the issue with stairs, etc... this comes up quite a bit so I really need to get a FAQ done. Hope you continue to enjoy it. Some of my forum members said it took hours to really grow on them, but now they play it constantly! Here's a post that I made recently.... Read this big old chunk of text below that I wrote about secret doors and searching, it should help you get moving again!
I have a question about the armor you can find in the game. While there are special types of weapons you can find (shocking and freezing), are there any rare special abilities on the armor you can find such as rustproof other than the leather and elfin armors that always have that. An example is like a small chance that you will find a rustproof plate armor. The reason I am asking is because I want to see if there is any reason I should keep identifying armor if I already have a decent piece such as +6 rustproof scale armor other than if I would want the Shozoku or Spartan Cuirass for their own special abilities.
Right now, armors will simply be cursed or normal or have a magic bonus like +1 through +3 when found. They will not have rustproofing when picked up unless that type was always rustproof. In an upcoming version there may be other abilities you can look forward to finding! To clarify for anyone else reading, the only naturally occurring rustproof armor is leather and elfin chain (for now ). Shozoku would give you stealth (and rust proof), the Spartan Cuirass gives you random extra hits on monsters. We'll do some neat things with Armor in either version 1.6 or 1.7
Thanks for the quick response, that's what I assumed was the case but with this game you never really know what's in it until someone tells you. This will really help a lot, especially when playing as Athena for the tournament as her armor comes rustproof and it would probably be best to not waste any identity scrolls or risk putting on cursed armor.
That's nice to know I tried playing as the Hulk on my last run......the sheer brute strength was fun for a while, but was no help whatsoever when I got tag-teamed by a griffon and wraith on level 18
A potentially hidden nugget with Hulk, did you know that he can throw ANYTHING for pretty decent damage?
No, I didn't know that Even scrolls????? I'm hoping the scare monster scroll still works like it usually does.......that might keep him from getting killed in a party room full of high-powered monsters........
I hope so......can't identify anything other than potions and weapons with the Hulk since he can't frakking read and can only throw most stuff
This has happened a few times: I was on level 3 as a fighter. I approached an skeleton and attacked. I realize its strength quickly, but at that point, I dont know what to do. Its apparent I will lose if I stick around, but if I run, it follows. Help?
That is the sad but scary nature of this game. Do you know where the stairs are? You may need to leave the level or, what's in your pack? Any wands you can blast him with? The game offers you all sorts of random ways to deal with situations like this but, failing any of those, you'll just need to run around until you heal up a bit. I'm not sure if skeletons heal, but if not you can find a clear path to run around and around (careful he doesn't cut any corners on you) making a little attack once in a while until he falls down dead or you find the stairs.
Also, keep in mind that it's the skeleton of the last character you used, so it's going to have the same strength and health and whatnot. If you just got done being a strong secret character, and run into him on level 3, well you're probably not so strong at this point and it might be best to just avoid 'em altogether. I'm always so tempted to see if I can loot him/her and come up on some goodies, but lately I've found I'm just plain better off minding my own business and not poking around through human remains. Well ain't that the truth...
Yeah my Hall of Fame is filling up with skeletons! It's like I see them, and I'm like "ok lets avoid that situation" but then I start thinking "maybe it won't try to kill me, and I could use some goodies..." then I walk over and *POOF* a dead Athena whoops the snot out of me. It's especially bad if you've sunk a bunch of time in and got a good game going, only to gamble it all away. With my luck I'd beat the skeleton only to get like an aggrevate monster ring, a ring of teleportation, and a cursed war hammer.
That's about how my luck has been running lately, too I am debating whether or not to delete and re-install the game to clear my hall of fame, or just wait and see if CD puts in a way to clear it more easily in the next update
The heck with it.......I've reached the point where I can't seem to get any more scores into my local hall of fame, so I did a delete and re-install. I hated to lose the one Guild Honored listing I had, but I'm sure there will be other ones in the future
