Any word on more character animations and sounds( attacking, blocking ....snoring?) You could have in the options a choice of souds- ---- simpsons ---happy ( so he cheers when the griffins lick him violently ----its actually just a lot of touch...tough love --- the dungeon keeper sounds with swishes, clangs and screams. I love the game but feel the need to hear more than water droping sometimes.
We've got some sound effects recorded actually! Just need to find enough to handle the default cases we have in mind and then a way to manage the memory and playback of audio a bit better... but sound effects will make it into Rogue Touch somehow
Oh not at all, we definitely could still use a bit of audio wizardry from you! As a matter of fact, I have a little list for us to talk about! Should be fun Hope your Ninja Buddy update gets approved soon so you can stop beating up on my leaderboard!
Yeah, those corpses kill your ass unmercifully.........secret character corpses are even tougher. But if you kill those skeletons, you get all kinds of goodies from your last(failed) runthrough
Want an easy way to ensure that the next time you encounter yourself pining for the fjords, you're able to defeat yourself? If you know you're in a situation where there's just no help for it but to die, throw your weapon at an enemy. If you've still got a move left and still quite certainly about to die, remove your armour. Next time you run into your dead self, you'll be weaponless and defenceless.
Sorry, silly question, is this an RPG/Dungeon Crawler game? I've never played it, I've just seen videos of montage shots from the game. Thanks!
Pretty much, although it doesn't generally have the plot of most RPGs/dungeon crawlers. It's simply a quest to retrieve the Amulet of Yendor. The primary difference between this and traditional dungeon crawlers (besides the top-down view) is the fact that levels are randomized every time you play. Call it a casual RPG if you wish, with emphasis on short-term repeat play rather than muddling through a gruelling storyline solving key quests and puzzles to reach an ultimate goal.
I bought it!!! And in my very limited time with it, I am very intrigued. Anybody have any suggestions on a good starting charachter to get the feel of the game with. I heard Thor is a good one. @BOARDUMB- It always makes me happy when somebody recognizes a Mitch Hedburg quote He was one of, if not the greatest dead pan comedian I'd ever heard. RIP Mr. Hedburg.
Thor is a good starting character, but he's pretty strong overall and may instill a bit of false confidence in you when you finally start off with a stock character, whom Thor would probably eat. But he's good to get a sense of the game without getting beaten up too badly for your first outing.
I agree with Thor as a decent choice... Here's why: He is basically just a stronger than normal character with some decent starting equipment- namely that nice War Hammer and Armor. Some of the other secret characters could be fun as a first romp through the dungeons, but they could get you into bad habits: Like relying on Gimli's ability to see treasure on the map and find secret doors, or Ripley's ability to see enemies on the map with a motion tracker! And don't even get me started on Neo with his permanent Haste/Fast, which gives him two moves to most monster's one move! Or the Drizzt, Legolas, and Riddick, who can all see in the dark!!! So yeah, Thor's more like a well equipped normal guy. If you can learn strategies with him I think you'll do well when taking off the training wheels later
hey scotopia - you may be at the top of the leaderboard for wealthiest dead rogues (aka losers), but i'm at top of the amulet retrievers (aka winners). so congrats at being the best loser... of course with your see-saw technique, i'm not sure if that will be fair, so see if you can beat me with going down as far as possible and back up just once (no heading back down...) i will make a run at your loser category using the up down technique (i don't see any other way to beat 30k). although CD - is the wealthiest rogue category really the only one that does not expire? it may take scotopia more than 30 days to even try to beat my awesomeness in the winners column. not to mention i bought his game and will be submitting various fake bug reports under aliases to keep him busy "ninja attacking me in my sleep, shuriken wounds becoming an annoyance". i feel like i just woke up a sleeping griffin thinking i could take it out, should have let it sleep... hey between scotopia and i, toucharcade is rocking the rt leaderboards (or loserboard in scotopia's case). edit: mitch hedberg was awesome. was planning to see him live, but then he died. Thanks guys, I'm really excited to get off work and delve further into the dungeon On my first outing with a stock character I got killed in after going through like 3 rooms. I tried to see if Master Chief had a characther to no avail (I was really hoping for sticky grenades, and a BR)
i played through with neo once at the beginning. that was the only secret character i ever played. i actually found it really helpful to get a sense of how the monsters move, and have a shot at the more powerful creatures. plus it gives you an idea of how many items are on levels on the way down and on the way back up. definitely just training though, the game is pretty easy with him
Hmm....I see CD spilled the beans on my secret technique; I told you that to be nice CD!!! Oh well, I don't consider it a "cheat" since it is dangerous to pull off and can easily get you killed in pursuit of glory. Anyway, you did indeed wake a sleeping griffin; as surely some thought would lead you to the conclusion that I could have easily left the dungeon and went to the "winners" leaderboard instead; I just went for "deepest level" instead. I want to ensure my first place status on ALL leaderboards, which means of course in 1 game I have to die. If you really want me to romp you on the winners board....I suppose I have no choice
actually CD didn't say anything. see page 12 of this thread i figured it out because i had the same thought as i headed back up the dungeon before i even saw your score, then when i saw your stats, i realized you had the same idea. i even considered doing the same thing. see attached pic. that 'hmm' is me thinking about heading back down to do the same thing. but this was my thinking: me: "i could drop the amulet, head back down and beat scotopia's score..." me again: "but even if i get 100k, i'd have to die to get on top of the loserboard. since i've already beat CD's score on the leaderboard, so there's really no point." but i will go ahead and take on your puny little 30k losing score, just for something to do while you feebly attempt to score better than 7140 as a winner (you're #19 on that board, barely even on it anymore...)
