Damn that's a tough character to start with.......no weapons at all, just armor, a food and a bunch of potions...........died while trying to punch a multiplying slime to death after the frakking thing cornered me. I didn't know that if the slime was in the doorway and split that it could come out in the hallway.......oops
Very nice to meet you BOARDUMB / Jared! As you note later in the thread, Jared was simply a pun on the national jewelry store chain, but he is FAR from the "greatest" of secret characters, which means you are doing pretty well! His main ability is to appear in game with those rings, and then he identifies new rings automatically as he picks them up. Other secrets have amazing skills like night vision, speed, regeneration, or really awesome starting gear. I won't bother listing the known ones here, but you can see the currently discovered secret characters over in my forum! I'm glad that you spent enough time with it to get sucked in! Sometimes it can be discouraging when you get a few bad games in a row... but when you get that one where everything goes your way... WOW! Tips for Trolls- they can regenerate their health fairly quickly, and if you start to back away from one to heal they will be healing too (possibly faster than you do)! A great trick is to knock out that regen power- anything flaming is a big help- flaming weapon or wand/staff of fire. Also a wand/staff of cancellation will turn of the regeneration. After that you can pick away at them slowly and not have to worry about them healing up again. Hope that helps a little bit Yeah he's a tough one, but he can also auto-identify any potion he picks up. Just like Jared knows any ring he picks up automatically! There are equivalent characters for scrolls and staves/wands too.... you might be able to guess them as they are similar to the "Drinking Game" one, not an actual proper name, but somewhat clever jokes... but only somewhat
Ha now that is funny! Not to the poor kid of course, but still Ok, to continue my promise of clues or reveals on new characters: here's a really easy hint for another secret character for everyone... What might happen to you from handling too many scrolls?
I think only Canadians who listen to the radio would get the Jared refrence --- I hate that guys voice and I dont care that all their diamonds are fake so they can bring a better selection to their warehouses.....all I see when I hear his voice are extremely effiminate "Kids in the Hall"
I don't think we have Jared in Toronto -- or at least I've never heard an ad for them. (I don't listen to the radio much...) Unfortunately, we get that annoying-as-hell Russel Oliver "I'LL GIVE YOU CASH FOR YOUR OLD OR BROKEN GOLD / I'M THE LOAN ARRANGER, OHH YEAAAAAAAAAH!" arsehole on TV. Damn, I hate that guy.
Which potion is the exploding one? I'm doing really well and I don't want to blow myself up again. I have a bunch of potions right now and I don't know what most of them are.
P.s. My new highest score in terms of levels is now 17... and you're right those Griffins seriously could care less about humanity/piety/mercy/ or life in general.
NotYou, the items are random every game, so the only way you are going to be able to tell what's what is with a scroll/ring of identify or, you know, down the hatch and take a chug! Good luck!
Just finished the game with Thor. I know, it's not a real winning. But it was a fantastic feeling to get out of this dungeon. Wow...what a satisfaction, what a trip. Now I know what is awaiting me, so I will send my Silent Rocco down again and again and again ... Will take a while to get the amulet again. Oh man, I love this game...
Hahaha, LMFAO. Sorry, I'm not laughing at you, that was just a really funny way to put it I actually have real life panic attacks when I get to the point I'm running into Griffins, glad this game was such a great price cause the lifetime of therapy is going to be expensive!
I have decided......to finally buy this game. Seeing all the reviews, everyone seems very happy with their purchase.
Glad to hear it!! I want everyone to give this game a spin, it really is one of the most engaging games you can get. And CommanderData's commitment and obvious love for his creation, and the devotion he is showing to the fans is unmatched in the App Store. I don't think you will regret it, especially at the current 99cent price! (BTW le'deuche, kinda off topic but I love your Mitch Hedberg quote in your sig, I think you had a dif one before too. One of the best comedians ever, and I was lucky enough to see him live 5 or 6 years ago before he passed away. If anybody's never heard of him, look him up, he's genius.)
Fast food chains have their commercials about "Wow, look at what you can get for a buck." I laugh and think, "heart disease is on sale these days huh?" The truth is, spending .99 cents on this game is more than a steal. Anyone willing to spend a couple hours learning the strategy of the game and who enjoys RPG elements and fantasy based games will enjoy this. If you purchase it and are initially turned off, I would suggest trying a couple more times and slowly learning about all the different items you can get on your fight for the amulet. The variety and randomness of the items is what keeps you coming back. I've never said this about any game. If you THINK you MIGHT be interested, BUY IT! I dont know why I am helping to market this. I am making no money, I just feel like I got a deal when I paid 2.99. I would like to encourage CommanderData to eventually develop more games of a simliar style. His dedication and community participation to his game is amazing. .. I enjoy this game more with every attempt. To be honest, the oldschool graphics and lack of animation initially lessened my appreciation for the game. However, the more I play the more I enjoy the strategy and actually appreciate the art style.
They definitely have no mercy. Only hunger for human flesh apparently. There's a funny story in the "Story Time" thread over in my forums involving a pair of Griffins that I love! Check it out sometime for a laugh! Congrats on the victory! It's still sort of a victory... think of it like training wheels! Now that you've figured out more about how things work and how to balance, take them off and ride! Thanks so much for the kind words BOARDUMB! I'm very glad to find dedicated fans like you to help spread the word about Rogue Touch... I mean, honestly this is a thirty year old game that I gave a facelift to. It is an alien thing to many people.... but still, so many people are enjoying it! Blows me away PS- Mitch Hedberg was great! Too bad a lot of the great people die young... Man, learjetzoom, that's an amazingly good recommendation! I agree it might be a bit difficult for the new player to get used to at first, but if you give it a chance to see the depth and replayability it hooks you in! Anyone who tries it and has difficulty getting traction should try playing one of the secret characters you posted in that thread of yours (the mirror of the one at my forums)... Go ahead and link it here too! Believe me, when I see reactions this strongly to something I made... well I don't know exactly what to say besides thank you! If people's interest level keeps up like this we'll definitely be pushing ahead with new iPhone game development. Anyone else I missed, Thanks to you as well!!!
