    @Captain Jim:
Repeating what some - including me - said before:
Simple fix to include in the update, to make things easier: add an "Easy" difficulty that removes the cargo cash penalty when you get shot to bits. That alone should help immensely already.
And/or you could increase the bounties you get for shooting down pirates. 5 credits, really?

Anything else/more can wait till you have it properly hammered out. Better to take your time than do some badly balanced and half-tested "quick fix" ;)

I didn't know about the targeting mechanic either, definitely helpful when you're dealing with 3 or more ships. Also, what's the little lightning icon in the bottom left?

Got another one that hopefully is easy to implement:
Offer missions everytime you reach a system.
Currently it happens quite frequently that "no missions are available", so I have to trudge back and forth between Staeg and Rubecula a few times just to get one mission, and with low monetary reward to boot.
This would make mission flying a good alternative route for those of us how don't want to risk trading at the moment, due to the steep penalty.

    Something for us to try:
I just did a "protect the convoy" in-flight mission. While the poor cargo ships got blown up, this was mostly because I didn't know what I was doing (I think). As the pirates seem to target the freighters, I suspect those might be easier than encountering pirates that are solely out to get you. Of course, you run the risk of getting blown up on the way to the station then...

It's fun being a pirate too everyone lol I was always nervous to try to bend the law a bit but now I'm loving it! just some information for anyone who's currently curious about what the difference is between positive and negative legal status! I attacked some convoy ships and got my legal status to pirate and then shortly after I got rogue legal status. Basically what I've noticed is that you will still get "friendly" convoys where you can either attack them or have the option to engage your A-M drive, and you'll encounter hostile convoys where you will have take them out in order to be able to continue on to your destination. You'll also come across offers to ambush a convoy which are pretty fun but actually kinda hard because you need to protect your wingman in order to get the payment. But, probably the most curious thing I always wondered was pirate encounters. You will still come across many pirates who will attack you even though your legal status is pirate or rogue or whatever (whether that changes later on I don't really know) but that being said I am making a lot of money being a pirate ... Just saying ... Easily making a few thousand within a very short amount of time. So incase anyone's curious about being a pirate I would say go right ahead. You can still dock at stations and stuff and take the same missions so there's no penalty in that regard.

I think pirates would still attack you if you are a pirate yourself... As its a dog eat dog kinda thing. Pirates strive from attacking anyone at will.

If you get pirate status, is it possible to gain plus statuses still and swing it back the other way... Or do statuses stick?

Statuses don't seem to stick. I went the light side of the force and got enforcer status (I think it's the max "good" rank, after defender). Then I decided to attack a vessel and went down to defender quite quickly, but I behaved again and got my enforcer status back. I guess you can go back and forth.

I officially had it for now. So fed up with the crazy difficulty, I was really close to delete out of sheer frustration. The two times I went trading, I have to run into doublepacks of pirates that blow me out of the water like nothing. Lost over 2k to that insanely stupid "pay extra penalty on top of the lost cargo" mechanic.
The 5 trips before that, with no cargo? No pirates, or only single ships which I could dispatch well enough.

To add to the unenjoyable experience, at least on my Air the high sensitivity makes it almost impossible for me to line up even just a few good shots.

Absolutely no idea how you folks who find it "pretty easy/okay" manage to pull that off.
I know I am only mediocre, but I am not the worst player ever, either.

Will come back when/if I can play at a less frustrating difficulty level.

I like the feel of the game but it would be nice to be able to change the difficulty.. The default difficulty seems to be on "brutal" rather than hard.. Homing missiles would be an awesome addition.. This has potential to be great but right now it's just "good".. Keep at it Captain, there's a lot of promise here

Maybe we need Captain Jim's flight academy to learn the ropes. Followed by some Captain Morgans to ease the pain.

Sooooo.... I looked through the threads... Anyone can tell me if there is any story to speak of? Call me a game snob, but I lose interest in games really fast unless I have something to work towards other than "moAr loot".

I had the issue after A LOT of hours of play. I was very pissed off, so I started tampering with iFile to see if I got a solution and kind of did it.

In the attached image you can see the game folder inside the system. You have to go into Documents and there, you will find "persistentprofileXXX.dat" archives, being XXX consecutive numbers. My last profile was 114. I changed that archive extension from .DAT to .BAK and when I opened the game again it took my savegame from the previous mission I had done, but luckily it worked. I've lost around 20 minutes of game progress, but at least I don't have to start a clean game.

I'm JB, so I'm not sure if on non-JB devices you can get to the Documents folder where the savegames are. You can try through iExplore or similar in the computer and see if it works though, and let us know if you got a previous working savegame or not. EDIT: I've checked iFunBox and it works, so non-JB devices can find the archives in "device\User Applications\Rogue Star\Documents" :)

My guess is that this happens if you kill the app too soon after exiting, but I'm not sure about it.

@Captain Jim: unfortunately I can't send you my corrupted savegame because after it worked again, the game deleted my .BAK archive and created persistentprofile114.dat again with the new timestamp. I'll bear it in mind next time it happens to copy the archive prior to renaming, so that I can send it to you through mail. Nonetheless, I hope this is one of the things you'll be fixing in the urgent bugfix update you were preparing, because it's frustrating to have all your progress wiped out all of a sudden.

Here's what you see inside the Documents folder. I don't know how to attach two images on the same post using the TA app, sorry. I hope my tips help people with the same issue while a fix arrives :)

Congrats on the Pocket Gamer review Captain Jim, well deserved!

    http://www.pocketgamer.co.uk/r/iPhone/Rogue+Star/review.asp?c=64810

Will be great to see how Rogue Star (hopefully) grows and expands, it's a great game in my opinion and even the people that aren't liking the difficulty are enjoying what they've played of it so hopefully with a few tweaks it will get the universal loving!

@VirtualBoyFreak, Opiate and any others who are experiencing that save issue. I'm terribly sorry that's happened for you guys. We're working really hard to solve it (and other bugs) but it seems to be some sort of corruption problem. A file is getting corrupted which is stopping the save game from reloading. It's very frustrating for us too. Please accept my apologies as I can totally understand how frustrating and annoying an issue like that can be. This issue is only happening very very rarely (from what we can see) but I know that's no comfort if you're the unlucky one to experience it.

What we are currently testing is the inclusion of a 'force save reload' command. This will be a special titlescreen button which can be accessed by the player if episodes like that happen again. I will keep you posted here as to its progress but please remember that we need to test all fixes to make sure there's no unforeseen knock on effects. The final update then needs to be submitted to Apple and we then have to sit and stew while they decide when to look at it..

Please do keep an eye on our Facebook and Twitter pages for any updates too.
