Oh btw, one of those two ship losses was when I got a little too adventurous in exploring the station and collided with a wall...
Heres a thought.... What device are you playing on? I am playing on Ipad mini 2, and have same issue as you (getting as kicked constantly). I do win the occasional fight, but since there is usually at least 2 fights between planets, winning once doesnt mean anything. For those winning AND losing - what devices are you playing on?
For those who like the music, I found it interestingly similar to the introduction to Solitude in Transblucency. It's a Duke Ellington cover by Sir Simon Rattle. http://youtu.be/6HYn6QG0Mos
Can't resume game still can't play :/ weird ... Anyone else experiencing this? Seen a reviewer on the AppStore post about them having the same problem. Hope it gets fixed soon! Hate being impatient on having to wait for an update to fix this issue.
The problem isn't really the difficulty, it's the fact that dying punishes the crap out of you if carrying cargo.
Did you try closing all apps and rebooting? (Home+Power button until the screen goes black). That usually helps. I'm on a 4S and haven't had any issues. I play on a 4S. At first I always died. Then I tampered with redirecting energy to shields when things got hard and moving a lot, and that way I'm achieving quite a bunch of wins. LOL'd, I did that too. I saw the station had corridors and I wanted to do the trench run as in X-Wing... but there's a transparent wall and you can't go into the trench, you crash
Yepp! Tried everything from exiting all apps, restarting, and even doing that new software update too (8.3) and still same problem. It's really weird cause I was just playing it this morning with no problems and been trying it all day with no luck. Getting a bit frustrated not gonna lie, I've always seen people post about games crashing and I've never experienced any serious problems with iOS games actually preventing me from playing them until now, I can see why people get frustrated over it!
I got that to happen once - I can't remember the exact circumstance but I think it's a corrupt game save, since starting over fixed the issue.
Hmm okay, do you have any idea what might cause a corrupt save? Cause from I remember I was at talos station and hit options then the main menu button, then exited out the app. That was the first thing that popped into my head but though nah can that even happen in iOS?
Is the sector news in game something live? I mean, people here are critic with difficulty and smashing buttons on screen, and the sector news talks about all these things. Are they updated online, or just pure coincidence?
So incase anyone's interested ... I started a new game and works like it have before, so hmmm I wonder what the problem was! But btw .... Been playing for an hour and 17 minutes and already have the Jumo difficulty is fine guys all it takes is some luck and skill!
Let's just leave it in "it's okay for some and not for others" In my case, both difficulty and controls are great and the game is incredibly fun. If difficulty is changed, I'd like that they set the option to change it (easy, medium, hard or whatever), not to change it for all of us. In any case, as you can see in the attached image, I guess the high difficulty of the game is done on purpose. There's also a piece of news talking about auto-targetting and giving tips on how to shoot
Hi pilots! As promised, below is a list of combat strategies which I hope may help those feeling frustrated. Currently there seems to be a straight split between players who are enjoying the challenge and others who aren't. It's important to say that I am listening and trying to decide on what is the best way to proceed. Obviously, I'd dearly love the game to be a success. Hell, I need it to be after 5 years of work. I never created the game to frustrate players, nor make them feel unfairly treated. From the outset I'd designed Rogue to provide a fun and engaging challenge, in a type of game and genre under represented on smartphones/tablets. Rogue does require the player to fully engage with it's mechanics, certainly more than most smartphone games, but perseverance should bring reward. If some players aren't finding this is the case, then I will try and accomodate solutions for them. Currently, we are prioritising fixing bugs that are being reported, and plan to release an update with these fixes as quickly as possible. Please bear with us while we get these tasks completed. Okay, on with the guide! - Try to 'split' enemy vessels as they close on you. You can do this by firing shots at distance to make them dodge out of the way. - Don't overshoot enemies. Stay behind them by altering your speed. They won't simply sit in front of you at a set speed and let you fire at them. - Target enemies (by touching them) so you know where they are more easily via the radar. When they're close, think about breaking off if you're engaged with another ship. - Jink and dodge fire as enemies close with you head on. Don't fly straight! They won't so you shouldn't either. - Don't become fixated on taking down a vessel if you're taking fire, even if their shields have taken a beating. Sometimes disengaging and tackling the other craft is the better option. Perhaps the damaged ship will turn tail and make a run for it..? - Use the power settings wisely. They can turn the tide of a battle very quickly. - Don't forget to recharge your shield to full power before re-engaging your A-M drive. Many novice pilots forget to do this and run straight into another dogfight with low shields. - Don't go 'all in' on individual power settings too often. Remember, your other systems will suffer, especially at max settings! Sometimes just giving yourself a little extra power can give you the advantage/cushion you need. - Don't let your shield power drop too low before doing something about it. Once it gets too low it's harder to utilise the power manager to compensate for your losses.
I'm s..l..o..w..l..y making progress now. Actually survived 5 fights in a row What really helped is the "touch enemy to target" thing. Funny enough, I cannot remember that this was mentioned in the tutorial. And with the hectic combat I never thought to try that... Some more tips for us less skilled folks: - Below 10% Shield energy seems to be the point where the shield loses charge just from lack of energy. - If even one ship is behind you (red ring icon, empty in the middle; as opposed to the full-red dot when in front of you) : evade, evade, evade. And put your shield energy up to 80% or more (I go for 100) . Try to get them in front of you, and take a shot whenever you can. - Only when you have none behind you, funnel shield energy to lasers and try to take one out. - If you keep switching targets frequently (every 10-30 seconds), they don't get brash. I didn't figure out the exact timing yet. But if I keep shooting at both, they tend to evade more and stay off my back. - Unless you can get a really good lineup for a few shots, do not reduce your speed when facing more than 1 pirate. Otherwise, Chieftain Sitting Duck will invite you to a party you won't forget... - When you are back to not shooting, open up the throttle again. If you want to play it really safe: - Avoid Talos, just shuttle between Staeg and Rubecula. I found the pirates at Talos to be a lot harder than at the other two systems. - Always sell cargo immediately, even if you get a lower price. Better than getting blown up on the way to the high-price planet, and lose a ton of credits. - Avoid the auction. Getting enough money to buy the next ship will take quite a long time like this. But I find it safer: I don't have to risk money on a) buying the cargo , b) ship it to another system and risk losing double.
