Ahh in that case its working correctly. The main objective was to get the basic flight controls working initially and take it from there. Im hoping to get more fully featured support in the future. Thanks guys, means a lot! ##
Got the game recently and just wanted to say how much I'm enjoying it. The dogfights are super fun and the fun/funny writing adds a great deal to the overall atmosphere and vibe of the game. I've just started to explore beyond the three initial worlds and the game seems to be opening up a bit with more variety. I do think it would be good to get players to this point faster. After so many similar missions in those first three worlds things were getting a little repetitive. But that's a minor thing. Cool game!
Thanks for your kind words and feedback jedmm, I appreciate it. Hopefully the update has provided a more balanced (increased bounties/game values, less aggressive early foes) and quicker route for new players to get into the game. It can always be better though and Ill continue to look for ways to offer greater enjoyment and challenge. As ever, thank you Truncana for being such a great supporter!
@Captain Jim: what's the name of the music soundtrack? My children were watching some cartoons and suddenly I heard the music and thought "Rogue Star?", but it was some kind of space cartoons with children in them.
Question: how can I pick up the salvage after the pirate ship exploded? and 2. does buying a bigger/better ship helps me to go to farther systems? (it seems quite limited for the time being) Very enjoyable gem!
1) go trough the cargo canisters as soon as it gets released after explosion to collect it; 2) of course, getting a bigger/better ship will open you access to other planets of Rogue system. Enjoy! It's a really rare gem!!!
@VirtualBoyFreak. Rogue uses a combination of Holsts Venus, Bringer of Peace and Dvořáks New World Symphony. @currymutton. Truncanas spot on. # Be aware though, most cargo canisters have an auto destruct timer so grab em as fast as you can or ###
Thanks Captain, I'll check them all to see which one is the one I'm referring to! EDIT: the ones by Gustav Holst, those are the ones. Thanks again!
I bought this when it launched, but I think I forgot about it or quit when I got confused by something early on (probably that the boosters are the square in the HUD). It sat and sat but I decided to give it another try after catching a few minutes of Carter streaming it on TA's mobcrush. What a great little game! Finally, Elite that is playable for me -- no extra complexity or PITAs, just fun. I see that it's been updated with some more "quality of life" changes, too. It's great to see the developer talking to us here. iCloud support would be wonderful, this looks nice on the iPad but I think it's more fun on the iPhone. It would be neat to go between them, though -- and not worry about losing progress. Having Rogue Star on the big AppleTV screen with a controller would be the most boss of all. Are you thinking about that for a future update?
Thanks for the kind words JindoFox, I'm glad you're enjoying Rogue. Apple TV support is a tough one. I've had a rough build of Rogue running on a TV and it looks and feels great. Unfortunately, I'm unsure whether there's sufficient demand to support the platform and justify its development costs. However, never say never. If there's a continued groundswell of support, it's certainly something I'd like to see happen too!
According to AppShopper, the game is free atm. If you don't have it, it's a great time to give it a try. The game's absolutely gorgeous.
Hey everyone. This Thursday a new update for Rogue will be available! This turns the title free, which I hope will lead to more people checking it out. The update boasts new mechanics to support f2p, along with offering a helping hand to pilots who find it a little tough occasionally. Alongside this, there are also a huge amount of new delivery missions and news stories, as well as gameplay tweaks and balancing. On the subject of going f2p. I'd just like to thank all the players who originally bought Rogue as a premium title. Without your support we wouldn't have been able to continue to update the game so it is greatly appreciated. Oh, and if you'd like to participate in discussions on possible directions for the title, feel free to post them here or on the facebook site. I'll be doing some facebook posts soon regarding this subject and it would be great to hear feedback and thoughts.
So from what I'm reading is correct, the update does nothing to reward early buyers or eliminate the F2P elements for us? If that's the case, I'm most definitely not updating. Glad I read The update notes and came here first. Great game but am lucky I still have it installed in its premium form.
Oh Snap! Gonna have to see if I have the previous IPA file... A bit of warning on the forums might have prevented some sourness. Hope the title does well for you as a Freemium title, but I think most people here consider this practice a bad thing to do to existing customers (especially in the wake of GOF3!) It shouldn't have been too difficult to put something in place for those of us who have been playing the game for some time... Other devs have done similar in the move to F2P. For anyone new looking at this, don't disregard the game - I'd definitely recommend it for free, it's a lovely Elite-like with a great bidding mini-game thrown in. I certainly felt I got my money's worth out of it.
So um, you just deleted the premium version which is the full game in its full scope and was a great game to play simply because dev has announced it will be going f2p? The update he is referring to doesn't happen until Thursday (tomorrow I'm presuming) so if you reinstalled now from your AppStore account or will still be premium. Simply do not update it to the new version. Easy peazy. That said, I would much prefer the developer were to release an f2p version of the game, leaving the premium version intact for original purchasers and for those who try and like the f2p version, but who prefer a premium experience. If that is not possible, then perhaps at least a way to allow existing premium players to continue to receive updates and be excluded from the f2p elements. Maybe an optional IAP to buy out of the f2p limitations with a one time purchase?
Update is available right now so it's too late for people to download&keep premium version. I hope there is "full game unlock" kinda thing and we'll have that automatically.
This is my feeling too. If there's a coin doubler or similar, previous buyers should be granted with it out similar. Other devs have done this with success. EDIT: F2P elements are watch a video to double the mission earnings, plus the possibility of buying in-game credits with real money. Nothing else seems changed, no grinding barriers, timers nor anything similar. Thanks Captain Jim for the heads up and sorry for my mistake
