You have to get to the furthest planet down possible. There you can find more ships. From Rubecula (I think it's that one. If not, try from Talos) you can go further down.
Unlucky Traveler mission Anyone know how to beat this mission. I have to find some tractor beam generator near this facility, but can never find it. Thanks!
If it's the mission I'm on, it's really difficult. Check the image attached for the ship I've just bought to try and beat the mission you have to kill the 2 waves of enemies and then get near the facility before the tractor beam captures the other ship. It's a very difficult mission indeed... EDIT: finally beat the mission on the first try with Orion spaceship, and I have access to all the planets, including Viper what I don't know is where to sell the survivors and the personal cargo. I thought Viper would be the place, but I was wrong. There's nowhere you can get rid of them. Also, what's that Bolt with a 0 next to the joystick? And how do you install an extension to the ship?
Corrupt Save Game I made it very far in this game (have an Orion and can afford any ship) but now when I launch the app and tap Return to Game, it just crashes. Looks like my save file is corrupted? That sort of sucks... Don't want to start over after all that work!
Check all the thread, I already posted how to get a previous savegame and only lose a few minutes of gameplay. In a few words, you have to get to the Documents folder of the game and rename the last "persistentprofileXXX" extension from .DAT to .BAK. You can do this with iFile (Cydia app to explore the JB iPhone files) or with iFunBox through a PC (no need to be JB this way). I've already had my savegame corrupted 3-4 times, and all the times I've solved it this way.
Hey guys. Just a quick heads up to say that an update should be incoming very very soon now. In fact, hopefully around about the time you're reading this! The update mainly covers bug fixes and stability tweaks. Of main concern was a rare issue which stopped players from reloading the game. This should be fixed now, but for extra security we've added a force partial reload function. This can be accessed from the Title Screen by pressing the little 'spanner' icon in the bottom right hand corner. We're moving straight onto a gameplay update next, so keep any feedback and suggestions coming. I'll go through the thread again soon and reply to any questions I've not answered yet. Thanks for your patience waiting for this update. We've rolled it out as quickly as possible.
Just updated and everything works well!!! Captain I have a question I don't know if it is answered previously: what is the meaning of the two icons under energy management bar and under throttle bar? Thank you in advance!!! And keep up the wonderful job!!!
Thanks for the heads up captain! I read a lot about how to play the game, and also your tips. Still get my ass handed to me more often than I would like. My suggestion for the gameplay update: Keep the current difficulty as "brutal" setting, but add "normal" and "easy". Currently fighting one pirate is a piece of cake and fighting two pirates is instadeath. Something in between would be nice A landing animation when you dock at the station would be nice. Making the starting and hyperspace animations skippable would also be nice. But really, the difficulty is by far the most important thing. I haven't been playing much because of that.
I have my sites locked on this game but I'm going to wait for the gameplay issues to get straighten out.
They're not "issues" IMHO, just people not being able to cope with the initial difficulty. Plain old 80's-90's difficulty, as in X-Wing when you had to defend 2-3 fregates and they were in opposite directions Once you get past the first ship, things become much easier.
Yeah it's a bit difficult.. Actually it's very difficult lol.. I love the feel and vibe but it could get frustrating at times.. I've gotten better after following some of virtualboyfreaks tips but still struggle heavily in later missions.. No way I'm giving up on this though.. You could tell a lot of love when in to developing this and the game is only going to get better.. I'm so looking forward to the addition of missiles ##
I played X-Wing, TIE Fighter, and their expansions a long time ago...had to look up the release date - 1994 for TF - even, 20+ years cloud your memory I particularly remember TIE Fighter as being bloody hard in places (no shields and I'm ordered to bomb *what*?) They had a lot of flaws, especially with bad mission design that made some ridiculously difficult. Maybe my memory is clouded, but this here feels different: Not like a particular mission - or 5 - is badly thought out (cannot judge that yet, as I didn't get that far). More that the whole start of the game could be better. Not to mention that repeating past mistakes is not the best idea ever. I like to think game design has improved since when I started over 30 years ago, but sometimes that doesn't seem to be the case. Yeahyeah, I know that I'm not 20 anymore, and my reflexes are slower these days. But still ... some design decisions - like the extra penalty for losing cargo - are simply wrong, in my opinion.
About the extra penalty for losing cargo, I'm not sure if it's a real penalty or not. Let's say I have 10k credits and cargo worth 5k in the planet were it sells the highest. When you get shot out, I *think* it shows 15k in your credits and removes the 5k, but you're still left with what you had at the beginning (minus the cargo, which you always lose). When I had to repeat the difficult side mission 7-8 times, I noticed that if I didn't rescue cargo, I always had the same amount of money and lost zero credits, but if I rescued 1k worth of cargo, I had X+1k credits when the 1k were removed, so I always ended up having the same amount of money. I admit it's a weird way of showing what you lost with the cargo, since it would be easier to say "you lost 3t of cargo", but maybe the dev could throw in some light to this. As for the beginning difficulty, I agree it's too much, but it feels very rewarding when you finally get to buy the second ship. Nonetheless, I understand that people looking for a more casual experience request an easier difficulty setting. One thing that helps me with this game's difficulty are the controls. Throughout these years I've gotten very used to touch controls, and the ones in Rogue Star are spot-on. Amazingly precise, and very responsive too. The only "but" is when you want to target a ship: you have to stop maneuvering and shooting, and then target. It doesn't detect targetting a ship while shooting and/or maneuvering.
The first "play through"" I had which was about 4-5 hours I found it easy at the start and then impossible by the 5 hour mark. The game then wouldn't give me any missions at any planet so I started a new game. Still no missions and the difficulty didn't change. They were still throwing three ships at a time even after I started the new game. So I deleted the game, redownloaded it. I'm now further then I was before and the difficulty is perfect, not too easy, not to hard. Maybe there was some kind of bug im not sure. Maybe if you are having trouble just try redownloading it.
I would like to see a first person version of the jump to light speed. I don't like seeing the ship just dissipate into the hole. I'd like to see it happen like in no mans sky. I think that would be cool.
What I'd like to know is: - Expansions: my ship has no expansions installed, but... how/where do I install them? - lightning symbol: under the energy buttons there is a lightning sign with a "x0" indicator. What is that? Ultra charge? Where do I equip that? - Special cargo: I rescue people and they go to my "personal cargo" section in the ship. I also have half a dozen probes from a special mission I did. What are they for? Where do I sell them? - Sun: is there a way to get there? I think these questions are what keep me flying from one sector to another trying to find more things. I'm sure there are hidden treasures in this game, I just don't know how to find them...
