Jeff Well-Known Member Aug 16, 2009 91 0 0 #3 Jeff, Jul 5, 2017 Thanks! I was inspired by Reigns and wanted to add some twists to the formula. Mainly I wanted to expand on the idea of factions reacting to your choices and who's in power. For example, factions will try to form alliances when they're weak. Or they might go to war based on your actions. I love it when a weak faction pleas for your help one minute, but they'll get cocky and look down on you when they have a lot of power. It's satisfying hacking into their systems and bringing them down a peg! Hard to tell how that part works from the trailer. Hopefully AppUnwrapper or someone else will make a video. Actually, after watching the trailer several times, it looks like the hacking works by not touching the orbiting objects when jumping between nodes. Neat idea. gquiller Well-Known Member Nov 15, 2011 330 3 18 #5 gquiller, Jul 6, 2017 This sounds cool... Jeff Well-Known Member Aug 16, 2009 91 0 0 #6 Jeff, Jul 6, 2017 @Misguided, yup you're right about the hacking. It's a mini-game where you tap anywhere on the screen to make your green orb leap from node to node. The goal is to reach the end of the line of nodes without touching any of the red firewalls. It sounds simple, but these systems can get really difficult to hack when you have to hack 20 nodes in a row. Hopefully you'll see it from the trailer, the hacking game has some more depth with the introduction of hacking powers. These powers let you destroy firewalls, add extra time, slow down/stop firewalls and more. johnkittz Well-Known Member Mar 19, 2017 78 1 6 #7 johnkittz, Jul 6, 2017 I'll probably wait for sell since this takes a lot of inspiration from Reigns I'm worried about being repetitive like Reigns as well. I haven't played Reigns, so I can't compare them, but there is a lot of replay here and the actual hacking is fun as well. I especially love it when you know your game continuing depends on a successful hack, as it really adds tension to it. My only issue so far is that I wish you would get more coins for playing, but there are IAP coins, so I understand the fewer free coins I guess. Also, sometimes it's not apparent who you are helping or hurting, like when you invest in a certain industry over another. Is that by design? Jeff Well-Known Member Aug 16, 2009 91 0 0 #9 Jeff, Jul 6, 2017 @MrMojoRisin Who you help or hurt depends on what the faction is asking and your decision. It also depends on their interests/personalities which you'll learn over time. For instance Spades is a government agent so they're all about surveillance and spying on people. Hearts looks out for the people and environment. Clubs generally likes to cause chaos, and Diamonds is effectively a high tech bank robber who loves money. If your choices align with their interests, you'll help them, otherwise it'll hurt them. There are lots of ways to earn coins in the game. You can earn coins through certain critical missions, making successful hacks, and every time the game ends. I really wanted the IAP to be completely optional, since getting the hacker powers are not a requirement to enjoying the game. Getting new hacking powers was designed to be the "meta-game" of having something to strive for to unlock and keep playing. Thanks for checking out the game, I'm so happy you're enjoying it! Misguided Well-Known Member Jan 27, 2009 2,346 19 38 #10 Misguided, Jul 6, 2017 Jeff, I really think this would benefit from a gameplay video. I think it would be wise for you to PM AppUnwrapper or someone like that and offer them a code. MrMojoRisin Well-Known Member Jul 27, 2012 1,183 0 0 #11 MrMojoRisin, Jul 6, 2017 I just want to say that I completely agree with this statement. This game would be tons of fun even without any hacking powers. But they do make the hacking a little easier and can help extend your game, so it is cool to strive for them. Thanks for reaching out to me, Jeff! Unfortunately, it's a bit hard for me to get into another Reigns game, and I'm not feeling the hacking part (usually if I were playing a game like that based on reflexes, I would fail and try again. But here you fail and that's it). I also find the messages about the factions getting low irritating. It seems to happen every time they get low. And the hands pointing at the two choices while I'm trying to decide what to do. I know I have to choose and don't need constant reminders. The coins message after failing to hack is also confusing and cheapens the experience. One of my games that felt longer was only 8 days, so that made me wonder what makes time pass. Also, there's something so satisfying about the swiping mechanic in Reigns that you just don't get with buttons. There seems to be a lot going on here, but I think after Reigns and Artificial Superintelligence, it's going to take something really unique to pull me back into this type of gameplay. I think it gives a really in-depth look at the gameplay. Yeah the high/low warning messages will appear once for each faction, so a total of 8 times, then you'll never see them again. It was there because during play-testing, people had a difficult time with the main idea of balancing each faction's power. I haven't heard of Artificial Superintelligence, I'll have to check that one out. Thanks again for checking out the game AppUnwrapper, I really appreciate it Misguided Well-Known Member Jan 27, 2009 2,346 19 38 #20 Misguided, Jul 8, 2017 Thanks for the video, AU! Yeah, I think one warning message on the high side (across all factions) and one for the low side (so, 2 total instead of 8) would be a nice change. Is the bar moving across the bottom a timer? It looked like AU ran out of time once, but the at had long stopped moving. If it is a timer, maybe an easy mode without the timer would be a possibility for those of us with crappy reflexes. The theme here looks pretty good, but I bet I wouldn't get any further than she did. Without spoilers, does this have storylines that persist from game to game, like Reigns?
