Anyone else want to review Rocket Claw before its released? PureSkill Well-Known Member Apr 28, 2009 1,737 0 0 We will see... Flour Bluff #4 PureSkill, Sep 29, 2011 Rocket Claw is a fun and interesting little game. It is one of those simple pick up and play type games that are perfect for the iPhone. The gameplay consist of tapping the screen to extend your claw to grab or deflect things. One of the neat things about this game is that you can use your claw on any of the objects and not hurt yourself. The only time you get hurt is when you dont deflect an object and it floats into you. The difficulty of the game starts out pretty easy and then as you get further into the game, the amount of objects that you have to contend with becomes quite challenging. The different objects also have different characteristics, such as space rocks that you can destroy in one hit, aliens that can't be touched until they lower their shields, and space junk that you can't destroy without a power-up as a few examples. The game uses a crystal system for in-game purchases. You can use crystals to gain power-ups that help you in some manner while playing the game. Crystals can either be collected while playing the game, earned through sponsor advertisements or bought with real cash. The music is ok, but I can see it getting annoying after a long time as it kind of repetitive, but I can't say that I know what would be better. It is kind of nice for a while though. I also find the music to a little loud, so an in game volume slider would be a welcomed addition to the game I know that I said that this game is great for an iPhone, but it would also be nice on an iPad either as a universal build or a separate app. Also, the game doesn't have a help section, which might be a good idea. You are just thrown into the game with no explanation of what the different objects do or if you are suppose to touch them or anything. It just says touch here when you start the game and then your off to discover the different objects yourself with no real idea of how your suppose to go about doing it. But it is still a fun game that isn't complicated to figure out and play and good for passing time. RussianWorm Well-Known Member Jul 20, 2011 97 0 0 Biz-Dev, Marketing, SFX, Sound Design, Front End W Seattle http://www.fugazo.com #5 RussianWorm, Sep 29, 2011 That is a good review! We will definitely be discussing adding a help menu and a music volume slider! Do you have any other suggestions or anything that you would like to see in the game? PureSkill Well-Known Member Apr 28, 2009 1,737 0 0 We will see... Flour Bluff #6 PureSkill, Sep 29, 2011 Nothing is really coming to mind. I forgot to mention the different modes and other playable character which add to the games replayability and that it supports game center. With those things, the game is already loaded with some good options. I will see if I can think of something, but the game seems to have been well thought out already. JCman7 Well-Known Member Jul 6, 2009 2,548 3 36 Mechanical Engineering NY #7 JCman7, Sep 29, 2011 Loving the game!!! I have been playing it so much, it's a great pick up and play game. While im bored on the train I just play this app the whole time and it's perfect for what I want. I love the crystal system and that you have to work for getting bonus upgrades and new game types (or buy crystals if you cant wait). Game play is straightforward and easy to learn and it becomes extremely exciting the longer you play. Worm holes are tricky and make a nice addition. The whole idea is great, it's a simple game yet it keeps me occupied for a very long time and becomes a fun addicting challenge to try and get a better score each time. love it! I feel I'm saying the same thing as the last two reviewers (hey Skill) but I'll also be sure to pop in the main thread on release day and relay the message there too. The gameplay is very easy and yet fun. The difficulty grows but never becomes overbearing. The robot is cute and endearing, you really get attached to the little guy. Different game modes add a nice variety though I found myself gravitating (ha, pun) towards endless mode, game center is so crucial anymore, power ups add replayability, I even love the little facial expressions on Clawd. (Claud) I know what your going to ask me, what can we add, change. Well, let me say that the amount of time you've put into this really shows. Many times I've been asked to try a game and it feels half finished, not this time. I usually play with the volume off but when I test games I turn it on. The music wasn't bad, maybe room for improvement. Chiptunes are huge right now but don't really fit this genre. I think you were going for a 'Plan 9' vibe and you nailed it. It's hard for me to comment much cause I really don't usually pay any attention to it. Overall I give it a strong 4/5. For a game I assumed to be predictable, I was actually surprised by how much depth it had.
