Game's taken a bit hit on iTunes at 3/5 with 6 reviews, compared to Cordy's 4 1/2 with 40 reviews. Devs are gonna have to address this soon before this gets out of hand. Tweet them here: http://twitter.com/#!/FenixFireTweet
I have a 2nd gen ipod-touch and it is virtually unplayable, but it sounds like people with even higher end ipods are having problems as well. It stutters, stops, controls lag and stick...can't be played at all, basically.
Yeah, I too have an ipod touch 4th gen and have been having some issues as well. I sent the devs a message on facebook.
For anyone having issues, there is hope (copy/paste from facebook): Fenix Fire Entertainment Hi Ari, Roboto is a big game and requires a 1Ghz processor for best performance. That said, we will be applying an update to iOS soon that should give a noticeable framerate boost. Thanks so much!
With my 2nd Gen iPod Touch, I wanted to compare with and without Wi-Fi. So when I was home at lunch with Wi-Fi, I really did notice that the framerate was better when online (at least to the point that it was playable). BUT then it crashed again on the 3rd level again when I was shooting at an enemy. So I'm back to either a decent framerate (online) or crashes (offline). I'm thinking that as far as offline goes, the game is still constantly trying to connect to OF or GC, which is causing the major framerate issues. The game should try to connect once and noticing that there is no connection to Wi-Fi/3G, stop trying. Just a guess, but it's the only rational explaination I can come up with as to why the game is horrid when trying to play without an Internet connection. Really like the level design and liked the website demo, so hope that something is done about this.
read my post from facebook, with the reply. requirements should have been 4G and up to avoid this backlash. iPod Touch 2G iPod Touch 3G iPod Touch 4G Processor Speed 533 MHz 800MHz 1GHz Thats the issue, along with RAM Reply: Roboto is a big game and requires a 1Ghz processor for best performance. Can you ask them to simply post here and listen to ideas for improvement? The controls really need to be sorted out, and I've been trying to get their ear via twitter for weeks to no avail. If we don't speak up now the game won't be improved.
This doesn't explain why the framerate is much, much better connected to Wi-Fi. It's quite playable when connected to Wi-Fi. But there's still an occassional crash. If the processor speed is the issue, it makes no sense why the framerate is much worse when not connected to Wi-Fi (you'd think just the Wi-Fi connection would be using more processing). Anyway, I agree with arta. It would be nice if the Dev could come to our thread to help explain things. That's what I usually like about these forums is that we get to share ideas and concerns directly with many of the developers.
I am going to ask apple a refund and never ever again buy something from such a irsponsibke developer who releases something in this way. Wtf.
Just posted on Facebook to invite the dev over here to discuss. Hope they join in so we can know what's going on and share other ideas (like controls) with them.
Got a response from the dev in regards to better performance when playing online vs. offline: "Interesting . . . it sounds like the problem people are having with iPhone4 is that OpenFeint is having trouble connecting to the internet, which slows down the performance. We will work with them to resolve the issue ASAP. Thanks!" He must have missed the part where I was referring to iPod Touches and Wi-Fi. I would think with the iPhone4 you'd always be connected to the internet either via Wi-Fi or 3G. Still wish they'd come here so we can have an actual conversation with them.
I hope they do come over. It's a husband and wife team that sound really enthusiastic about the game but aren't into promoting it. They gave no previews save for the trailer and an interview on an obscure website.
Downloaded and runs fine on my iPad 2. I'm not sure about the controls tho, they need to improve to be able to complete this game I'm on level 8 and still not used to the controls.
Well, sometimes you have a poor 3G signal, which puts the iPhone 4 in the same proverbial boat as the iPodTouch. I've had the sane OpenFeint problem in other games.
This game WAS a day 1 for me but all this slow down talk on the iPhone4 is scaring me off to be honest
What I don't understand is the need to connect to OpenFeint. Sure it's nice to have leaderboards and achievements. But if the games unplayable because of issues with Internet connections and/or OpenFeint, then you should be able to at least have the option of disabling it. If I get to the screen that says you can't connect to OpenFeint and it gives me an error (due to no Internet connection), then pressing "skip" should automatically stop the game from continuing to try to connect. I really believe this is the cause of all the offline slowdown. I've played many other games that use OpenFeint and/or Game Center and they play just fine offline. So those who coded this game just fudged something to cause this issue.
= controls work great if you up the joystick sensitivity up 1 in the options i think its from 2 to 3 bars it works pretty good then... a digital left and right arrow tho would do good too like the flash game.
Does adding bars to that joystick control make it more sensitive? It is not clear which direction you need to move the bar to add sensitivity. Or conversely, it is clear and I am being blind.
think it has something to do with the dead zone of the stick so upping it makes the stick go over farther. ya set joystick movement to 3 bars. then try it and i must add this game is gorgeous and colorful on retina one of the better graphic games ive seen that is not Infinity blade of course lol. this looks like a downloadable console game very close to the flash version.
