Firstly, thank you MOBJOY for allowing me to test the game. An honor, good chaps.

Alright, where shall I begin? These points will be all over the place. Forgive me for that.

The front-end is nice; you can choose all unlocked cars, improve acceleration, nitrous, and shield. You can buy new paint jobs, weapons, etc. The music is quite rocking.

A proper tutorial would be nice. After playing the game a bit, it feels more like a game of luck than anything. Lemme say, though, that doing flips means nitrous boosts, which is pretty sweet.

I'm actually reminded a lot of Death Rally.

After you've chosen you vehicle you press GO. Then you choose the level of your liking.

Once you actually begin playing, you'll notice four on-screen buttons, unless you pause and set the lever all the way to the right to use tilt to flip. After this, you'll notice the game is a side-scrolling shoot-em-up. I do wish I accelerate manually, though. IMO, I would gain that ability and lose the brake button. Tracks have different paths and have well-drawn backgrounds. Although I do wish there were things happening in them.

Cars stopping on a dime after falling from a severe jump is NOT fun. I wish I could keep moving forward, somewhat. Hope that makes sense.

Now, I think here is where I find my first issue with the game: Only 5 tracks.

To be fair, though, they are named differently each time you select them, with differing degrees of difficulty. Again, very similar to Death Rally.

Okay, lemme get this out the way. The game feels like a 2D mixture of Death Rally, Trials, and Mario Kart.

I love the extreme jumps, industrial apocalypse setting, and Mad Max shoot-em ups. You can select between tilt to flip are use on-screen buttons. I wish it were in 3D, but whatev. I also wish the cars were more detailed, but with how far back the camera is it's probably not necessary. And anytime you wanna see your car in detail you can do so at the selection screen. Though they still aren't very detailed.

I would've liked to seen car deformation of some kind, but again... camera all the way back...

Also, where's mah story? This game is begging for some kind of story. ESPECIALLY with all the cool characters already in place.

I'll be back with more, later.

Also, I'm not a fan of cheating so early in the game, so I won't be using the free money, upfront. Thanks for the offer, though. I like earning my own funds through competition. Alright, back to playing.

Just looked into the in-app purchases. This is one of those games that doesn't seem to impede your progress if you decide to play the game without them. I don't know how reasonable the prices are. I guess as long as the game is 99 cents it'll be okay. Not sure, though, because I hardly ever buy in-app stuff.

If what I'm playing is pretty much final, though, MOBJOY gives you the entire game and you just buy extra funds if you're impatient. Also, you can get cash for free by downloading other applications, both paid and free. For instance, you can acquire $33, 210 dollars by downloading a Visa something or other. I'll not be doing that, but whatever floats your boat.

    Fin.

Oh, yeah... no screen rotation is ridiculous.

Alright, I the game obviously encourages speed, but there's kind of a catch when levels include different paths and you enter the second of three, for instance. If you hit the roof you die. That sucks. If anything, it should inflict damage, but not kill you. Again, I'm totally against a Brake button in this type of game, where in the beginning, at least, luck matters more than skill.

Alright, I think I'm done playing for the night, but who knows.

The game definitely has an addictive quality, as you always wanna earn more money to buy upgrades or new cars. I'm still on the first, as I have this tendency to wanna upgrade each car to the fullest. Though I really don't see a great improvement.

That being said, since the game is a side scroller handling doesn't matter much at all.

In fact, the key to success in this game is all about flips. The more you flip the more boost, more win. My advice is to upgrade boost and shield to the fullest. Although, at this point, I don't even think that's necessary, with how random everything feels. Just flip and boost your way to victory. Maybe this will change somewhat, but I don't see it happening. Maybe I'm missing something, but the three skull levels feel about as difficult as the 1 skull ones.

There's just a bit too much randomness for my taste. But again, there's genuine fun to be had in doing massive jumps, all while shooting foes mid-air. I like that aiming is automatic, too. But why wouldn't it be? Alright, I'm done. Peace.

Okay so I like the game, reminds me of Death Rally/Extreme Road Trip, like a good mix of those. I just want to point out first that I haven't gotten any IAP yet, I will comment on those later.

I like the clear menus for the car shop. Easy to see the choices on top, easy to navigate through cars to buy, which I can see are a lot of them. I like the variety of cars, guns and all other stuff. The prices are high though, will this be a freemium, especially with the IAPs in?

Controls work really well, but it took me a while to understand why the brake was there when there was almost no chance of failing while speeding. I accidentaly skipped the tutorial, by the way. Once I understood you have to break sometimes to shoot the cars shooting behind you, the game got easier, though I didn't place in 1st until like the 5th time. Flips were easy to make as the car turned quite fast. The sense of speed was very nice also.

The boost that I got by making more and more flips was an awesome addition, because once I flipped right before the finish line, I got a bigger boost than the leader and won! :)

Graphics and sounds are both nice, really loving the 2D cartooned graphical style you've chosen for this! The menus are simple and clear, graphics are not that colorful, but still good.

The only real down-side is the power-ups. I really didn't understand what are they for and how do you use them...

Those are my impressions after 10 minutes of playing though. So I'll see if I can find something to improve or if I find any bugs. You're planning for a multiplayer mode, right? It would work perfectly for this! Great game so far.

    News

    Hello everyone,

First of all I would like to give a quick thanks on behalf of Mobjoy to all those having a look at the thread and providing feedback on Road Warrior. We still have room for more players so to participate just leave a post showing interest!

We will be posting new screenshots, artwork, tricks and time records! Today we are revealing Grave Digger a monster truck available in Road Warrior. We like to think of it as a heavy mechanical bull ready for some serious car shooting!

BTW our testers best time with Grave Digger was 1min32s in Quicksand difficulty 3. Let's see if anyone can beat that. Please continue to give feedback and we are curious to know what's your current record!

Have a look at three tracks below Death Pass, Quicksand, Route 666:

Glad to know the game's progression seems right. We did our best to balance the game properly by always giving players both short and long term goals, intelligent difficulty adjustments and will be adding specific achievements / challenges to the game in the near future. Did you max The Black 3 already? Good to hear about the controls; tried out the accelerometer as well?

    @russiaone
We think the soundtrack is awesome, thanks for enjoying it. Manual acceleration was cut off during early testing with users; many felt the current input design was the best as it allow users to focus on the best part of the game: shooting and flipping.

Backgrounds will be contemplated with animations such as birds and aerial transportation vehicles flying around. The game already has a background layer system that is designed to give a sensation of depth when in mid air (layers move vertically in opposite directions to show the player new areas of the painting previously blocked by closer layers) but it may be a bit sutile. Background and foreground props also pass by in different speeds to enhance the speeding experience.

The game has 9 levels (with multiple paths) grouped in 3 different aesthetics: grand canyons, deserts and cities. Road Warrior displays 5 at a time in the selection screen.

Game story will be released in update.

We made free instant ingame cash available for users to accelerate or facilitate progress. We think is a good feature for those having a hard time in any given moment of the game. After all the game is balanced for hardcore gamers too...

Skill together with understanding both your car and gun unique behaviors and of course knowing the best path in each level determines podium positions, especially versus bosses and in high difficulty races. You will definitely feel the change when driving better vehicles.

    @LOLavi
Man it feels great overtaking an opponent after the final ramp, doesn't it? The game is designed to explore a lot of overtaking and to give the player many decisive moments in the race specially towards the last 20% fo a level. We hope you are feeling a rush towards the end of the race!

Power-ups can fix your ride instantly or provide a special one-kill weapon or grant you $200 cash or reload your ammo.

We think the graphics are outstanding too! They were painted in very high resolutions so we are starting to consider an airplay, multi-player mode in the big screen. It would be a next year addition in case we decide to go forward with the idea.

So much shooting and flipping! Thanks for focusing on the most important aspect of the game and not soiling it with 'controls.'

looks like a fun game. i would love to try it out. I initially thought it was going to be similar to death rider until I saw the video. So we are always driving in the side view I take it. Anyway Im game if there is still room to be one of the 100.

    Few impressions.
I'm loving the different tracks, seems like a good variety.
I can actually see/feel the difference after upgrading,
the sense of speed and tension is there and cool.

I've only just fully upgraded the first car so I'm not sure about others but so far the difficulty is about right, I'm not winning all the time. Which is good as I wouldn't want it to easy to win.

Haven't really found any bad points so far.
About the tilt controls I did try them out and they work just fine but I always stick to button controls where available.
