At about seven minutes into that video: Kotaku guy: "What should our jellyfish strategy be, in general?" Vlambeer guy: "Avoid them."
Don't bite! I left this comment on the review here, but I will add it again here, not because I want to flame or be a troll, but because I strongly feel this is the most over-hyped game I've seen in a long time, and I want to warn other dubious people not to drink the kool-aid. I bit for $3, which is not much in the scheme of things, but felt pretty "bit" by all those saying this was the greatest thing ever.
Actually the game is amazing. The thing is a lot of the qualities are subtle and everyone won't latch onto them. It's not the best game ever made but it is really great and has a lot of charm. I think the charm part is where the five-star reviews are coming from. So don't expect the world but allow the game to kind of work it's magic on you.
I totally disagree with this. The game is definitely a lot of fun, and I'm typically very tough to please. I am very often disappointed by the new hot game of the week, but this one didn't let me down. I think I only gave it four stars because I do think I'll bore with it after a few more weeks, but I'm perfectly fine with having spent $3 and hope the developers make more iOS games. Some people didn't like Angry Birds either. No big deal if it's not your thing.
I'm going crazy because I haven't found Steggo alone for a week! Did not have a problem with the rest of this game and I cannot find this guy.
Ah, finished Ridiculous Fishing. Quite an interesting ending. What a game. Took somewhere within 5 hours. Really glad to have experienced it. I really hated Ninja Fishing. Definitely not deleting it off of my iPad anytime soon.
You're entitled to your opinion. As a free-thinking skeptic of every game I play, I happened to find this one to be a fun distraction, and feel I got my 3 bucks out of it. Different strokes man, it's not for everybody.
IMO it's easy to get on the hype train and buy something that you aren't interested in simply because so many others are buying it and it's getting a megaton of hype from TA. Grow some resistance and put your money into games that you are truly interested in unless you just want to consider it a donation to the dev regardless of if you like the game or not. I passed on this game simply because it just doesn't appeal to me after watching the TA Plays. It looks like I'd be bored with it and the collectathon it is after an hour or so. Still, I'd double check my view if it ever goes free, but my gaming gut rarely steers me wrong. Sure it does from time to time, but not typically in a way where I regret a purchase.
I've bought most of the store in the game, and i find today that i'm able to change map. Haha! Laughing alone... 10 days fishing in home waters, wondering if it was normal not to find any more species. It started to become weird. Okkkay, i'm completely dumb BTW, it´s so fun, and now i'm ready to fish in other waters.
Ugh. No updates and still the game will not LEAVE MY SOUND ALONE I Need to get In touch with the devs if they aren't here. I would be playing this game daily, but because I can't listen to my podcasts/music while playing, then it makes me want to throw my phone across the room.
I normally go with my gaming gut too but in this case I went against it based on the hype and I have to say it's a very pleasant little game. It's not the saviour of mobile gaming that everyone is proclaiming it to be but it is very enjoyable. The 2 main reasons I bought this game were the backstory of the development of the game and the lack of IAP. I am really liking the trend away from IAP in some of the bigger releases recently. I have no problem paying that bit more for a full game. Long may it continue.
Wow I wounded like a whiny baby though. Heh. Mental note: don't complain about games in the middle of the night I would like to point out that I would not be upset about a game I did not enough for I would simply delete said game and forget about it. Really need to tweet vlambeer
Anyone ever figure out how to get the last fish? The mimic fish. Does anything happen once you catch them all?
