This game is great and all, but it could really benefit from more fish, and some sort of mission system like jetpack joyride.
Finished everything, collected every fish! i have to say that I truly enjoyed the game, congrats to the developer team. If I were to say what I would like as additional content I would definetely choose more unique fishes, as I enjoyed the collecting aspect of the game more than the score attack thing. Something like more rare fishes in maelstrom area, or unique fishes that only appear at significant depths (1500 m or 2000 m) would be great, as it would encourage both collecting and scoring. Obviously I would be willing to pay for additional content, if well done.
Amazing, game keeps me playing into the early hours, or until the iPad battery goes. The 3 man design group should pat themselves on the back for making THE most fun and ridiculously addicting game on the app store. Great job.
The Cowboy hat becomes available for purchase from the store once you achieve Eagleman rank (by completing the Fish-O-Pedia), and it costs $100.
Well, my fishing career is now over. Nabbed the final elusive fishy, a moray, this morning, purchased the final hats, and now I hang up my reel. I will leave the high score chasing to the more fixated out there, just not my thing. To Vlambeer: great game with a beginning, middle, and end game. I would think long and hard before throwing more at this game. There's only so many 'secret' ways to catch 'secret' fish within the existing, finely tuned mechanics. I say go out on top leaving those that want more always wanting. That will leave this game an unqualified success and it's far better than just adding another zone with 30 more fish where you have to wear the Pokemon hat and fish between hours of 3 and 5 (AM or PM) within 2 days before or after a full moon making sure to swiss army between 4 and 6 jelly fish before reaching 150 meters to catch the final two fish species there. The game is, as I said earlier, intensely repetitive. The structure you created for the existing game is as close to perfect as you're going to get with the meta design in place. You can see the balancing act you've pulled off in tweaking everything. Currently, it's "just long enough", just complex enough, just involving enough. Stretch it out more and the people who aren't the sort who frequent these forums and brag about getting to 1300+ meters in Maelstrom will tire of trying to perfect their game. Have any more genuinely arcane secret fish that prompt seeking out the modern equivalent of Nintendo Power to find than are here and the casual audience who doesn't spend their time reading forums and niche game sites will grow frustrated. You've got a suitably large and complex bestiary of fish, ~6 hours of finely tuned gameplay, a subtle story framework, just one arcane set of fish, AND a perfectly competent endless zone with a leaderboard. What else exactly are you going to do other than turn this into yet another iOS title when, right now, it's such a stand out?
Well this was a great game! I have all the fish caught and I have a cowboy head. But I think there is more... What about this http://byrdr.com
Mimic fish To all those who caught the mimic fish can you please give exact details? Hat? Depth? And is it Maelstorm? I cannot find it! Please help greatly appreciated and the cowboy hat needed i understand but you need all the fish to do so which means i would have to find mimic fish before reaching eaglesman rank
So is there a limit to how high you can fly vertically? I just let my fish fly past the 50,000M mark, and I'm gonna kill it since I'm getting a bit bored watching the number rack up. Any idea?
Spoiler Have you clicked the "byrd" and read through Billy's directory? Some random little easter eggs in there. Here's one: http://byrdr.com/volumes/users/WJEagler/Desktop/Screen%20Shot%202010-01-31%20at%2011.46.46%20AM.gif This is really random on the part of Vlambeer, but I kinda love it
Hey guys, we're all doing an AMA here on Reddit: http://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/1ah6mg/were_the_creators_of_ridiculous_fishing_ask_us/ Come ask us questions!
I found the mimic on my first after setting my ipad to 1 am. It was around 500 ft by itself and I wasn't wearing a special hat. Who knows if the time had anything to do with it, but I before changing my clock I had tried for a long time.
I finally caught the mimic fish as well. Depth: 791 meters Grouping: 3 mimic fish swimming horizontally Hat: Frozen Hat (thanks dad! ) Time: 1:10 AM Location: Maelstrom
