Same here bro :) Been past 1,000m and still haven't found that mimic fish. Pocket gamers guide just says "common fish" lol.

The only thing I could knock this game for is the lack of a "cut line" button. It would be a nice feature for high scores, or searching for rare fish. :)

Is the Mimic Fish like a Ditto? What I mean is, does it disguise it's self as a common fish but has some small barely noticeable tell, and you won't know that you've caught one until you do? Or is it in fact a new type of fish all together?

That was my thinking too. It might look like another fish and you won't really know when you get it. It is considered its own fish (has a place in the fishadex)
I'll just keep on fishing until I get him I suppose.

Contrary to what? My point is that consumers should not feel obligated to purchase this game simply because an injustice has been done to them. It is not our responsibility to serve justice by purchasing their game. I think the game looks really good and has original character\skin, but I also feel that Ninja Fishing fills that same gameplay and fun for me at the moment. Perhaps Ridiculous Fishing is amazing, but I will wait for it to go on sale like most other ios games I wait for, especially since it is not filling in a huge gap at the moment. For perspective, I only just not got MC4 because it went down to 99cents.

No one feels obligated to buy it to help serve justice. We bought it because it is a good video game.

How could you come the conclusion that it is a good video game before buying and playing it though? I wouldn't know for sure it is a good video game unless I first bought it and then played it. I suspect it is, but I couldn't know that unless I purchased and played it first. I'm not being negative nelly here, I'm being realistic randy.

I found this fish in the maelstrom level around 800 ft...I only found him by changing my iPad clock to 1 am, I think it might only show at night. And I totally agree that the game very badly needs a recast/retry button- its not an issue at first but later in the game it really hurts the games fun factor.

And here's why freemium is dominating the market.

Well, I should also add I was not overly impressed with the previous installments that I did pay full price for. So that was also a deciding factor. And than there is disk space and an attempt to maximize fun original gameplay while managing storage and minimizing costs. I am not a fan of freemiums with hidden costs that cost more that a premium game. I have not reached a pay wall yet with ninja fishing, but it may come. I thought the developer might be interested in the comments of a devils advocate.

Indeed I'm certain 100% you'll never be able to get everything in ninja fishing without IAP's, I'd rather pay 3 bucks for every IOS game and have it IAP free.

There's no pay wall, per se, but there are painfully obvious caltrops and flame traps scattered about.

For example, to get to just the game's 2nd area, they first tell you to catch X fish or something like that... then you do so in your first 20 minutes with the game, but when you click on it to see what Dinosaur Island looks like you get told you ALSO need to buy a time machine and, by the way, it costs 90K coins at a point in your development where that is a massive grind, timesink, and foregoing of upgrading your fishing kit... or you could just pay them $2.

Then, while you're grinding your butt off to avoid spending that $2, they keep throwing you bombs in the middle of your fish for no reason except one: every mistake completely negates that fishing trip, and avoiding the bombs safely often results in "leaving money on the table", all increasing the amount of grinding you have to do... or you could just pay them $3 for the super katana that slices right through bombs as though they aren't there.

Then, since you might actually be getting ahead, they eventually start putting mines in the water that, like bombs in the slicing portion, end your fishing trip right there (hope you weren't about to reel in a super rare chest ;)), resulting in yet more grinding to keep progressing... or you can just pay them another $2 for the super lure that goes right through mines.

So, although the up front cost is $0, and it's a fun enough distraction for $0, to actually get to even a relatively close approximation of of RF, you're looking at $7, and then you'll still get ads every time you launch the game, and often when you're just switching screens, and prompts to share it on Facebook and Twitter, and prompts to go take part in some partner sponsored offer for free gold...

So, you can spend $7 and still have a game that behaves like a truck stop hooker, or you can spend $3 and avoid all that AND get a better game while you're at it. Or you can simply prove how much value you actually ascribe to that which entertains you by saying you'd rather just put up with the hurdles so you don't have to spend what a large soda costs to avoid boredom.

This is a chicken before the egg situation. If apps didn't constantly go on sale or go free, people wouldn't wait for sales.

I'm not going to get into what got us to this point, because its irrelevant. Here we are. But if a game doesn't look appealing enough to buy out of the gate, there will likely be a sale down the road where you can pick it up at a fraction of the cost. Devs play the game as much as consumers do with constant price drops.

I don't by any means condone or encourage this wait-for-a-sale attitude, and I'm not going to get bent out of shape over what amounts to the cost of a cheeseburger, but you can't get all holier-than-thou when someone takes advantage of a fluctuating market. It's all part of the beast.

Thanks for the tip :) Hopefully we will get that recast button in an update (it's really the only thing the game needs.) Maybe add it to the pause screen?
