Managed to get to the bottom of Home Waters without lure boosting on the way down (although I did have two mulligans, so it wasn't quite as hardcore as it could have been). Trying to sharpen my skills for the endless level has helped me realize something mildly terrifying: even if I get my score in the endless level to as good as I can make it, and unlock all the stuff, I'm pretty sure I'll just keep giving myself challenges like this to extend the gameplay for a long, long time. Not that that's a bad thing, mind... it's just very ominous for my desire to be productive in, y'know, the rest of my life.
"I felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of gamers' voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced. I fear something terrible has happened."
I don't know off the top of my head if there's a quick way to do it list-wise in-game, but I do know that on each map there's a dotted line that marks your best depth, so you can see where you need to go past in a given run to beat your best score. Like how they did it in "The Blocks Cometh".
Tl;dr version: waaah 3$ is so much money for a quality game. I'll settle for this crappy "free" one! Wait till you hit some pay walls buddy. It'll take more then 3$ to finish that pile.
Editors Choice, New & Noteworthy, #4 on paid charts. I think the choice to finish and release this game is validated. Great work Vlambeer!
Great, new virtual crack from Vlambeer. Heart of the Swarm just came in the mail and all I am doing is fishing
What is it Auggie "Ben" Doggie? Do you feel a great disturbance in the Farce, as if millions of voices suddently cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced?" "No, just a bit of a headache." Showed this to our daughter for the first time last night and she loved it!
It is related to the meta topics that are covered here. Ninja Fishing is nowhere near as much *game* as RF but rather a mashup of Fruit Ninja and Radical Fishing thrown into a blender with every freemium tactic in the universe to string you along racking up ad views and, hopefully, some IAP purchases, but it is still the same general style and competent enough fun for a short while at a cost of $0. While I would argue there is no contest between the two (c.f. my cheap traveling carnival vs. a professional theme park analogy earlier), I actually respect the candor in punching a hole to let some of the hot air out of the smugness balloons rampant in this thread If you're just looking to play a tilt based game where you drop a line in the water, go deep, pull up with as many valuable fish as possible, then destroy them for money to buy upgrades, rinse and repeat, you probably are just as well going with FN as RF, because RF distinguishes itself not in the concept, originally theirs or not, but in the nuance. RF is the better game because of the aesthetic design, the presentation, the focus on controls, the balance of upgrades vs time to earn them for fun, etc.. If you're the sort of person who views a $3 price tag for an indie game of a style/genre you have an active interest in as something you need to justify, you are likely not the sort of person who is going to appreciate the nuanced differences between the two. It's like beers, no matter how inexplicable it seems to me, cheap stuff that tastes basically like water with a little hops and a tiny splash of cheap vodka sell by the truckload compared to things that are complex and pleasant to consume beyond the alcohol factor. The remarkable thing is that there are so many people outside of our little nerd enclave who do appreciate the nuance that RF has hit top 10 paid/top 50 grossing in a matter of a couple of days. Focus on that: design and aesthetics are not dead in mobile gaming
I love this game and the music. Quick question though since there is no iCloud should I be playing on my iPhone 5 or iPad 4 for the optimal experience?
The game looks amazing in iPad retina, but if you're not up for tilting it I'd say stick with the phone.
I'd say the same, tilting on the phone is better. BTW: Where are the gun sounds?!? I want some DAKKA DAKKA!
I have one fish left. The mimic fish. (toward the bottom, above the moray in the pokedex) anyone have any hints on where to catch the guy. I've been over 1000m deep in the final level. he is my last fish! little help my friends.
