RF is looking like its well on its way to being a hit. Should be a bit of xtra cash laying around to take the mofos to court
Either way, I think it's something that could be looked at more closely. Ninja Fishing copied pretty much everything, right down to having the same upgrades. Personally I see it on almost the same level as putting a new sleeve on a Harry Potter book and changing all the names. You'd certainly get in trouble for that, but writing your own book about a school of wizards would be fine. Ninja Fishing didn't really write their own book, they just changed the name to Ninja.
Hahaha I was kidding the art style is astounding. Rivals Unreal games even just because that's how the mobile market functions. But I like that
I found them all, there is a very helpful guide on pocketgamer's website that lists where and how you find all the fish. There are a few that you probably would never find without cheating by using a guide. Spoiler Some involve wearing a specific hat and hitting fish in a certain sequence
Made curious by all the back and forth in this thread, downloaded Fishing Ninja today to see how the "original" compares with the original In spite of some people's outrage, the two games really do make clear that it's the execution and not the underlying idea that is important. On paper, the core gameplay, with the lone exception of FN "borrowing" yet another set of game mechanics from Fruit Ninja when it came to the fish harvesting, is indeed nearly identical... on paper. In practice, Fishing Ninja is like a traveling carnival up against Disney World or Bush Gardens; conceptually similar with many similar elements, both with their charms and place in the world, but one has an impossible to avoid underying hint of drunken teenagers and vomit Strangely, the starkest difference to hit me were not the controls (FN is tuned to be more casual in feel, although the floatiness of its physics removes much of the seeming advantage of its slower pace and simpler fishing mechanics), but that carnival vs. Disney thing: I realized how nice it was to not have a game asking me to "share" my score on Facebook after every round or challenge my friends on Game Center, how I never care if I ever see another Twitter bird icon within a game again. RF just lets the game speak for itself - achievements are transmitted in the background to GC, but otherwise it knows what it is and doesn't feel the need to wrap a hot pink feather boa around its neck because it got the idea from watching old reruns that would make it sexier. Both games are good for their own reasons, but one of them feels like something that wants to be taken seriously as a work of creative art, the other is exactly the sort of $0.99 casual fair we've come to expect from the app store.
Having just read this article I am even happier with my purchase of Ridiculous Fishing. I hope Vlambeer really does blow Ninja Fishing out of the water.
And finally a game to replace Jetpack Joyride as my "quick game" fix. Great job Vlambeer and company!
Iirc, the highest Ninja Fishing got on the US charts was #7. Ridiculous Fishing is already #5, and had hit #8 before it even got featured. I think it's safe to say Ridiculous Fishing is going to far, far surpass Ninja Fishing in terms of success, both commercial and critical.
Top 5 now! Such a deserving game. Haven't played a game this fun in both short and long bursts since Jetpack Joyride as mentioned earlier.
This is the only game I've played this year that can compete with Crazy Bill in terms of addictiveabiltyness
Going up? First off I'd like to say this game is a lot more fun than I thought it would be. Having a blast! Right now I got a single fish that is floating off into very deep space as I type this and just hit 11000m! Should I keep going???? There's no stars left.
