Yes that's my only complaint. It's not horrible but RR7 on PS3 spoiled me.

With Asphalt 8 being the pinnacle, can someone with both games give an opinion?

This game looks fairly generic, any impressions other than frame rate issues?

I have to say, after watching the video, RR looks like an Asphalt clone, what with the IAP cars and the buffs.

Then again, I haven't bought the game and played it, so there could be something else I'm missing.

For those who care: full screen ads between races.

I have the original Ridge Racer still installed. There are no ads, the IAP are for cars & tracks and they are one-time IAP. Controls are also fantastic now. Is there anything new which should make me change to this one?

I've been reading that there are cars only obtainable through IAP which was a bummer.
But full screen ads between races are laughable.
    I'll pass...seems like paidmium.

Popped in old one to see. Night a day difference on the controls, no iphone 5 screen support, a much less mature version of a modern day racing game. Not much sense of speed. Visually subpar.

"Oh, well. This is the greatest steal since Ty Cobb took home."

    Love it!!!

I played RR to death on my original PSP and got the DS (yes, DS) version. Both were very *fun* in addition to controlling well.

I have RR Accellerated for ios, and while it looks the part and the controls are good, the game seems sterile and not fun. Maybe it's the lack of any race progression that kills it, but I keep it installed anyway and take a few races now and then. I enjoy the classic courses and the controls are good enough. The small size (by today's standards) makes this ok.

So...is this new entry *fun*? At over a gig, I can't keep it around like I do Accellerated. I'm not put off by the pocket change price, more I don't want a gig+ app that gets deleted in a very few days never to be installed again.

Say it ain't so and there is more fun to be had here than Accellerated and I'm on board.

Yeah ditto the last statement. I've played RR since the beginning and owned just about every iteration (even the lame console one they did that wasn't anything like RR).

I'm hopeful this is good, but here's my word of caution. They put a RR on ps vita, and it was an IAP fest. From the get go there were 5 cars and 2 tracks and they kept adding tracks and cars for $5 each. If they nickle and dime this game, I'm writing namco bandai off. They've gotten VERY scheisty as of late. Let's hope this isn't that!!!

Only 12'cars,is that all? They mention that in the description as if its a highlight but 12 cars isn't much to play with.

Can you buy more cars or is that it?

Hard to know without opening up game more. 4 classes of cars, class 4 the beginning one had 4 cars, three purchasable with coin, the 4th with gold. It was 60 gold which is close to 5$ I think. Each car has three performance upgradable categories that can be upgraded 4 stages each with 4th being gold dependent. Other classes can be opened up early without proper progression they career circuit for gold. On another note, some upgraded aspects of cars can be tuned as well.
