Yes, the update also contains some performance improvements. But I'm not 100% sure yet they are sufficient to stop all the slow downs. As some of you have guessed, it is because of the particle effects. Normally, I would agree that this shouldn't be too much of a problem but here... it is. I'll investigate further! In the meantime, you can disable the particle bouncing in the options. That should help!
CONGRATULATIONS! Rico has been nominated, alongside 9 other games in the TouchArcade Forums [thread=183770]Game of the Week![/thread] What's your favorite? Who will win? [thread=183770]VOTE NOW[/thread]! (as a reminder, developers are not allowed to vote if their game is in the poll)
I just started playing Rico after much hesitation and ... This game is top notch! The story elements add much depth to what is otherwise a very basic and well executed game. Highly recommended!
Just downloaded the update and its much more playable, faster, no slow down with particles. On screen buttons haven't changed though.
I tried it one hour ago, and i like it! I thought it wasn't good enough to buy it.. I was wrong. Very good controls, and the music is excellent.
Not sure how I missed this when it came out, but fantastic little platformer. My only minor complaint is that I wish the buttons were bigger. Otherwise, be sure to grab this!
Yeah its a shame a fair few people seemed to miss this, if more people bought it we might have got a Rico sequel. Once you got used to the button layout (it wasnt too bad) the game was excellent, i started whizzing through the levels but that was a bad move. As when you fight the other guy you wish you had gone back through the levels to pick up everything (as it counts for this battle) But a great retro style looking platformer
Same here. It's been on my device since the release and I still play this regularly. You get used to the controls pretty quickly and the initial crash issues were fixed in an update. Gets really challenging in the third world too. For free it's a no brainer.
I learned about the game last month (it's on PC too). Forgot about it till now, I'm really enjoying the game. Should have gotten it sooner
I just wish that the buttons were a wee bit bigger. The seem so small. Fun game. Also, invert colors while playing it. Now you are rico. Sweet huh?
I waited for this game to go free. But now I feel bad cause this game is great and the developer truly deserves my money. I'll end up gifting this to a friend once it goes back to paid.
I wanted to let Rico fans know that the spiritual successor to this game is releasing tomorrow on iOS. It's called Nub's Adventure. Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel
It has no combat? Just run and jump and collect stars and avoid everything you see? Meh that's a shame.
